Reset DVR password to Factory default
Numb-nuts replied to grebar's topic in Digital Video Recorders
WHY DID YOU NEED TO SET A PASSWORD IN THE FIRST PLACE? WAS IT FOR SECURITY REASONS? Now you want to discuss getting past it in a PUBLIC forum, is that also for security reasons? -
THIS IS A PUBLIC FORUM ANYONE CAN READ THIS, EVEN THE CRIMINAL FRATERNITY

Question on Lorex LHV1000 Wire
Numb-nuts replied to dgcoupe's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Buy 100m of siamese or shotgun and make your own cable Watch out for voltage drop. You might be better off powering the camera more locally and just run RG59 which is easier to work with and lighter to handle. I actually made a 100M run with (gulp) URM70 which is a (stranded center cable) it was all that was available. The result was surprisingly good, ( well it is 75 OHM cable) but don't you do it as it's mainly for making small patch leads as its so flexible. -
What are the best Baluns to use HD-CVI 1080p

For CVI you can use a good quality standard passive balun as used in analogue CCTV. (IN THEORY) I haven't done it myself yet, but that is what my information is -
Outdoor enclosure distance from glass to lens
Numb-nuts replied to Tom J's topic in Security Cameras
If your lens was right up against the glass no warm air would circulate and that rather defeats the object of having a heater and blower. Too far away is also not helpful the short answer is neither too far nor too near. So how Far is that? Answer? = DUNNO? Trial and error seems to be the best answer, Try a small gap about a finger's width and go from there. Warmed Air needs to circulate across the entire glass surface to prevent condensation or misting. Put it too far away and light will play tricks with your camera reflecting light from different angles. -
Remote cctv access problem
Numb-nuts replied to collectors's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Very good point. In fact, if you know your public IP address, try using that directly and see if that changes anything (although I don't think it will because your browser/system will already have the IP address after the dns lookup). NOW THIS IS a really is a good point -
I called into a client to do the port forwarding for his recent purchase from ebay (yuk) of a generic type of DVR The interface is quite nice and straightforward but when I opened the accompanying CD it's entirely in Chinese. (Well I think it's Chinese) When I use the QR code scanner to go to the mibile app it goes directly to whois and I think there is no way to get beyond. The default ports are 80 for http and Device port 9101 anyone suggest any client software to download or android apps that use 9101 I'd like to help this lady as she hasn't any idea and her ebay seller isn't interested at all.

How I wish I spoke Chinese

Are you serious confuscious? Its a software disk and not a fortune cookie I have managed to get the mobile app and had it working by QR coding the APPLE ios link and typing the same name into google play and found it that way and there is a web interface but now just looking to find the client software. Haven't got screenshots as the DVRs firmware is in English. I haven't got the CD with me here it's at the client's home. haha if you put the software as a zip and pm me a dropbox link i will install it on my side. Thanks but I am not sure where the disk is now. Besides I doubt you translating it will help. I installed CMS in Chinese once to see what would happen. A really dumb ass thing to do as I couldn't even operate it as I couldn't read it and removing it was no easy task either. Don't be offended if I decline your offer -
How I wish I spoke Chinese
Numb-nuts replied to Numb-nuts's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
She knows all that now, she was very embarrassed and said she knows this in reality but couldn't resist a "bargain" when she was told how easy it was to set up " oh a seven year old could set it up" and yes it was for me even with nothing to go on but she's a Techno-Twit and hasn't a clue. I still haven't got client software for it. I did try changing the remote port to 34567 and using CMS but no joy this time. -

Floureon CCTV & Mobile App - without WIFI?
Numb-nuts replied to jacko_058's topic in General Digital Discussion
I have today successfully opened port 9101 on a Virgin Media Superhub I have had this testing on various open port sites. The proceedure starts with switching off PPoE then go to the DHCP Reservation Menu and select your DVR and reserve it's IP address Alwats select TCP & UDP when forwarding ports on yourVM superhub. Then open the ports then reinstate PPoE What Client software does your DVR use and can I have a copy please? See my other thread "Oh I wish I spoke Chinese" -

Yes, He's working as a prison librarian now! If your fingernails needed cutting, would you cut off your hands to save you the bother of having to do it again after they grow again? -
But then he probably lives in a normal neighborhood....right?

Remote cctv access problem
Numb-nuts replied to collectors's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You don't need the DMZ in any sky router and all the poerts should report as open if you have created services correctly and assigned them to your DVR's LAN address. I also find it useful especially with sky routers to reserve the DVR's lan IP address in the DHCP table to avoid IP conflicts It would be helpful to know what DVR you are using and what mobile port you opened for it and also the app you are using Check your settings for illegal characters, (No I don't mean criminals) I mean blank spaces, commas, hyphens etc. If you put hyphens in your hostname, some DVRs won't accept them some apps won't accept them etc. -
Record it if you want, legal or not, because if you're the only one seeing it, it won't matter. You are absolutely priceless......... ha ha ha

Just wrap your house in aluminium (aluminum) foil and be done with it. Once you do this THEY won't be able to get you.... Oh and avoid walking on the cracks between the paving stones that will also help a lot. You can also protect your cat with a baking foil suit, give her some catnip just before putting her in it and it will be easier on her nerves. Don't forget to report any strange UFO activity in your area and always have a foil wrapped umbrella handy in case THEY try to take over your brain when you are out. Above all, Keep taking the medication You guys are so green, you couldn't spot a leg-pull if your lives depended on it.... hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha very funny LucyLue2

You could use a good-quality wireless USB mouse in place of a remote control.

Hikvision Preset Names?
Numb-nuts replied to AMP's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
That would be great except then there would be the problem of the web interface recognising the presets and they would become useless on a standard controller.
