WHY OH WHY do people repeatedly ask how to overcome a security issue when they know full well this is a PUBLIC FORUM where anyone can read the conversations? Hardly a day goes by without some Charlie asking this SAME QUESTION! Passwords are set to stop unauthorized people getting into a DVR and it's settings. The implications of learning the answer on a public forum are that the security measures set by manufacturers won't be worth anything. Would you go to a locksmith's forum and ask how to pick a lock? IF YOU DID YOU'D DESERVE TO BE KICKED OFF THE FORUM. So why are those on this forum so keen to tell you how to overcome such security? Simple either they are willing to offer basic info you can work out for yourself or they just want to SHOW OFF how clever they are. Personally I give basic info that anyone could work out for themselves but on passwords I am NOT prepared to go the extra mile like some of the idiots that are simply here to show off how clever they are. Typically I refer to these people as Ewan after the infamous Ewan Kerr. (hint: say it a little quicker )

Browser based monitoring on a mac. Possible?
Numb-nuts replied to slicksilver's topic in Digital Video Recorders
There is a client based software called PSS for Mac and it works reasonably well. You can download it free from the Dahua website -
UM... ERRRR.... Read the instruction manual for which app to download and from where. (probably on your original CD) The only thing I can say for certain is look in the network settings for the Mobile Monitor port (probably 34599) If it is as I suggested, provided you opened the port you can download vMEye (very popular) or one of the apps at the google play store or App Store

I can't advise as that must be a local brand in your country, hopefully someone will know it.

If you pay less, in my experience you GET LESS.

Please can anyone identify this CCTV recorder
Numb-nuts replied to mark_derry's topic in General Digital Discussion
For the BT home hub start by reserving the IP of the DVR after allocating it a static IP address and then it won't matter if its set to static or DHCP, (better change back to DGCP after reserving the IP) the router DHCP will always allocate that DVR with the same IP address. (The router recognizes the DVR by it's MAC address) I have found this the most reliable way to approach the BT Home Hub settings. for the DVR generally set a device identifier address of between 159-200 If you speak to maplins tech support they will do it for you very often 'receipt needed'. -
What is your DVR make and model and what ports have been forwarded? You are talking about client software not apps. Try CMS (a generic name) this ine is one that works with a wide range of DVRs Click the link to download

The lesson here is deal with official outlets, yes it may cost a little more, but then you'd not be stuck now would you. Call a local technician out to resolve it for you ask thm if they deal with Videcon before you call them out. As a dealer installer I find Videcon more than willing to help technicians resolve issues with their product even if they weren't the original supplier.

CNB DVR hard drive failure/password reset
Numb-nuts replied to roughyear's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Client's place way too much financial pressure on installers to cut their prices and wonder why their installer disappears and goes out of business. Frankly That's it now, chuck it in the nearest river and get a new one. You can still get your HDD in the new one but. Areen't people wonderful they set the password as a security measure and wonder why manufacturer won't assist them to overcome the password, ARE YOU SURPRISED? Don't take it personally, thye just do that to stop their equipment being used thieves and people that buy used DVRs in suspicious circumstances. You explained that the password didn't work and frankly I know that sometimes happens so you are in a difficult position. My suggestion is to call out a technician that also sells that brand and show them the 'original bill of sale' they will probably get a code generated for you if they are satisfied you proved to be the legitimate owner which we have no doubt you are -
Don't be too hard on Videcon, they are set up to speak to resellers and distributors, they aren't set up to speak to everyone that buys their products. Speaking to the general public would effectively flood their lines and they just haven't got the staff to deal with that. As a dealer I have found their help invaluable which is one reason I buy UK imported products, clients can benefit from that support via myself. Very often the dealer will know the answer thus reducing the load on Videcon. Your original seller should have given you the confidence to speak directly to them otherwise why else would you buy from them? I love Videcon products they are really easy to get good results with.

Is there such a thing as 960H CCTV camera?
Numb-nuts replied to jprzybilla's topic in Security Cameras
In short anything higher than 960 tvl is probably 960H compatible and you will get the benefit of the higher resolution. 1000 tvl and 1200 tvl would bosh benefit a 960H dvr -
Unlikely that user1 has full admin permissions but even if it does only admin account can change the admin password so its a reset unless you stumble across the password.

Does your dome cause Image smear?
Numb-nuts replied to Logan005's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yes to get the best out of a dome they need careful and regular cleaning. They suffer terribly from water spots and left untreated these can corrode the polycarbonate and become permanent. (this is a phenomenon I have noticed more and more as rain becomes more corrosive) Clean polycarbonate with mold soapy water and a CLEAN LINT-FREE CLOTH Never use a wash leather or Vileda There are perspex cleaners on the market but repeated use results in fading. I'm not keen on dome cameras myself but they have their place and uses. They are mostly not desined to be mounted on walls or vertical surfaces especially where the are not sheltered. If they are mounted the intended way you always get that gravity water spot. You may have also noticed that this type of camera is often supplied with a cotton glove so that alone should indicate they require careful handling. NEVER touch the inside (or outside) of a polycarbonate dome with bare hands or if you do clean it as soon as you can afterward -
You have IR clicking in so the camera is getting power but how many volts. You tried swapping out the cable and the baluns at both ends and there was no difference? Yes/ Have you tried a different camera on that line/channel? I am thinking the camera might be at fault but usually thats unlikely if this is a new installation. Most common is a faulty single balun but you eliminated that but you video signal is not getting to the DVR. If you have a field test monitor test with seperate baluns direct to a BNC monitor remove the camera connections and send a test card from the camera end to the DVR and see if it displays if it does the line is okay it's the camera (Probably)

If you are recording on motion detection it's impossible to tell. If you are recording continuously, it is easier to calculate you should note the bit rate set for each camera before finding an online calculator.

strange red green and yellow lines?
Numb-nuts replied to jagbuilt's topic in General Digital Discussion
Thats exactly what I thought when I saw them ? wierd It may be some form of intelligent analasys zoneing I would take the camera down, bring it in and leave it in the airing cupboard for a week or so as moisture may have got into the OSD controller. -
Does your dome cause Image smear?
Numb-nuts replied to Logan005's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yep just clean the polycarbonate dome with mild soapy water and dry with a terry or microfiber cloth. Try not to leave fingerprints on the polycarbonate dome as they do have a tendency to hold natural oils from hands. They also scratch easily of they are cheap. I know this will sound patronizing but it isn't meant that way. Check to see if the protective film has been removed and don't feel stupid if there is still one on there because I have seen many cameras that still have their protective film attached mostly I am called out to these with the description the lens has some dark areas, whats happened the clear film has started to peel and has become dirty. It's ridiculous I know but people often leave these protective films in place. -
Do you get a higher video quality with a TV or PC monitor?
Numb-nuts replied to jprzybilla's topic in Security Cameras
VGA has a more complex signal and therefore a better picture. Your TB would definately offer a better picture either using VGA directly or HDMI if available, you then select the appropriate input via the TV's remote VGA is sometimes called RGB, VGA or PC depending on your TV or if using HDMI select the appropriate HDMI input. I like using VGA in preference to HDMI for one simple reason, the VGA plug has securing screws, it's that simple. HDMI connectors have a tendency to either pull out, or break. If your DVR just has a BNC video out then I'm afraid you have no other choice. -
invezio SC-0824-HEVR - Factory Reset
Numb-nuts replied to ron.jace's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Your best chance is to find the company that imports that device and contact them if they can't help contavt the person that sold it to you and get your money back -
if you can install one into a computer you can do so on aa DVR yourself. some will format immediately and some you will need to actively format but it's not difficult. Before you buy another HDD establish if it's a sata or IDE and replace it with an appropriate hard drive. Handle the drive carefully and no hard knocks, Be aware of static electricity and take precautions to avoid static electric discharge. The internet is full of articles about dealing with the dangers of static discharge.
