We recently had a flood from a frozen pipe that burst which ruined our old Speco DVR16IP. I am looking for a replacement and am pulling my hair out trying to figure out features/price/quality. I will find one that seems to meet our requirements and then read something about quality problems. There are so many choices. I have read lots of posts on this forum, but didn't see anything straightforward that was within the last year.
We have 10 basic Speco dome cameras in our entry, laundry room, clubhouse, office, etc. I am leaning toward embedded Linux because they user interface on those seems to be much easier to use with a mouse, etc. I have seen several systems that provide configuration through PC software or their web interface too.
Requirements: 1TB storage; web interface that allows search/review/viewing; triplex/pentaplex; 16 channels; < $1,200; iPhone, Android, & Windows Mobile viewing; at least a 2-year warranty.
I have looked at Speco, iDVR, GenIV, Q-See, LTS, etc. I wish there was somewhere I could do some comparisons...
I called a few local dealers, but they all want to come out and check out our entire installation first, which is understandable, but my boss is impatient and just wants me to get a new unit quickly.
I would sure appreciate any guidance that anyone can offer.
