“I would zoom all the way in but the problem is that I also need to monitor 3 cars in the same lot. I was so frustrated at the quality that I almost went out and bought a sony handycam to use it as security camera.” Garbage in garbage out. You are not bright enough to ask for what you want, you deserve to buy the wrong camera again.

Mini ptz are usually around 3x zoom. Do need the pan tilt also or just the zoom part.

Looking for advice on a setup

BlueIris is barely hobbyist level. Thats why it is 50 bucks. -
“RJ-45 plugs come in many varieties, some are for solid-core cable, some are for stranded. You often end up with the wrong ones, and "universal" plugs aren't. It can be difficult to get the proper rj45 for the wire you are using, many times the description does not give you enough information. I found i had to call and specifically ask or just buy packaged deals of 1000ft cat5E with a bag of rj45 and or a cat5e cable tester. A good crimper does not hurt either, all metal not a plastic POS. And whenever possible i also buy pre-made cables. P.S. there are many video on youtube on how to crimp rj45 connectors

“What's a 7 eleven?” Rory was joking, a 7 eleven is a small convenience store about the size of a large gas station, they sell milk, bread, beer, batteries, etc. Open 24 hours a day and robbed about 2 times a week.

“1 Lux(DSS On), 0 Lux(IR LED On)” Poor sensitivity and built in IR, looks like a looser camera to me.

Can I use a IP camera in my car?
Nimrod replied to the lemming's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
“20m yes that possable you may have problems with lighting.” I think TomCCTV is right. I have never seen a wireless camera that has good sensitivity at least in the few hundred dollar region. Looking out of a dark car to see someone with a light in the background is another killer. You might have something if you want a image only if someone is in the car and the dome light is on. -
“I bought a 140 led IR illuminator off of eBay for $55 with free shipping from Hong Kong and the thing lights up my whole driveway like a charm. I've had it up for 6 months now with no problems. I tested it on a Sony Effio camera that we bought a sample on where you can go into the OSD and turn the gain way up and doing that you could see the IR past 100' easily. Of course the closer you get to the IR, you get totally whited out but its great for far away objects.” Can you post a picture of the unit so we know what one you are talking about.

What about the “starlight” analog cameras with the 1/2 inch sensors. I have never used one but maybe someone else here has. This is one example but there are others . http://www.toshibasecurity.com/news/041206.jsp

The CNB Monolisa line are very good cameras, You will have to spend about 3X more for a better camera. Here is a list of the good ones. CNB DBM-24VF 1/3" 600TVL, Indoor, true day/night, DC Iris M13 2.8-10.5mm .005 lux CNB DBM-24VD 1/3" 600TVL, Indoor, fixed IR cut filter, DC Iris M13 2.8-10.5mm .05 lux CNB DFL-20S 1/3" 600TVL, Indoor, fixed IR cut filter, M12 3.8mm Fixed .05 lux CNB VCM-24VF 1/3" 600TVL, Outdoor Vandal true day/night, DC Iris M13 2.8-10.5mm, .005 lux CNB VCM-24VD 1/3" 600TVL, Outdoor Vandal fixed IR cut filter, DC Iris M13 2.8-10.5mm, .05 lux CNB VFL-20S 1/3" 600TVL, Outdoor Vandal fixed IR cut filter, M12 3.8mm, Fixed .05 lux The VF versions are much better than the 20S ones in terms of sensitivity and ability to accept 24vac and 12vdc. The VD ones are not true day night so poor low light response like the 20S. And do not worry about Rory’s post, if i remember right he got mad because an order was screwed up and he has not found any camera to replace the CNB with.

Will IQeye511 fit in Arecont 4 inch dome housing
Nimrod replied to Nimrod's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I do not care who makes the housing. This is for me for home use to play with. These guys make some inexpensive housings, if you use there indoor ones. It looks like they call there outdoor housings indoor if no fan and heater is installed. http://www.videolarm.com/family_item.jsp?content=254&model=17409 -
Will IQeye511 fit in Arecont 4 inch dome housing
Nimrod replied to Nimrod's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
From Skane’s post about fit, and the measurements from Soundy, and looking closely at the dome picture with camera mounted, i would say that the .4 to .5 inches bigger the IQeye is, will prevent it from fitting in the Arecont housing. Can someone please give me the next housing up in price this might fit in. Must be outdoor rated. -

Since posting, I started thinking about my sentry box-style shed for a camera and thought, hmm how about buying another one to put next to it in my side return. If I could plug all the cameras at the back into some sort of junction box in the shed, then I'd only need one cable from there to the house wall and up into my study. (A study each is what you get when you don't have kids, this is a four sofa hovel). If I'd need mains power then there's an outdoor socket on the other side of the side return, close by. Feasible ? “ WOW that was impressive logic especially for someone just starting out. Yes it is possible and fairly inexpensive. Search for this on ebay. CCTV 4 Channel Video Balun Look at several different ads for them, some will have instructions and hook up diagrams. You need 2 of these, one on each end, your cameras plug in to this balun and you plug in a standard cat5 cable to it and other end of cat 5 to the other balun. Note, it does NOT connect to your computer network. On the dvr end it is reverse the 4 bnc connectors go to your dvr camera inputs. P.S. your hiding a bullet camera in a bird house is only a good idea if it is very securely mounted as this larger structure will have much more wind loading than a bullet camera. And do not get to real with it like giving the bird a place to land by the lens or he may try to peck it out, especially if there is any kind of hole around the lens the bird can get at.

“Woow, so much time time and energy spend to track down poor guy” How much time do you think it took to google “Jomago Video Stabilizer alainmazy ” he is the only link. It took me about 12 seconds to track him down like a dog. Ill bet this guy is hit and run, as in never comes back. But if he does, it will be because this link comes up in his standard spam search again.
