Hi, In effort to replace Avtech Av760 battery, which was soldered on reverse side of motherboard, I pulled off the track itself (I know, should have taken extra care while working with multi-layer PCB). Can someone help me with picture of motherboard, specially the battery area so that I can solder a wire for battery to PTH hole or to a pin on top of motherboard. I am tired of changing date & time after every power cycle now. Or if you can point out the RTC chip used on this motherboard, I can trace back PCB track/pin for battery from there as well. Thanks, Sanjay Kumar

Finally I have CR2032 battery installed in my old Avtech DVR AV761. Key was to identify the RTC chip used. This DVR uses RTC chip S3530A which is installed near VGA port or I would say just above original battery location on the other side of board. RTC chip uses two diodes for supply from backup battery & main SMPS. I have circled the location on attached image for clarity. Next was to scratch the track connecting to diode to battery to expose copper and do the soldering. I soldered battery holder negative terminal in one of connector grounding holes for VGA. So finally it has a battery backup and keeps the time intact across power cycles. Thanks, Sanjay Kumar

Problem got resolved after DVR hardware reset, the jumper on the board, and changing SATA data cable. Thanks, Sanjay

Hi, My Avtech 760 was working fine with 80 GB SATA HDD for past 4 years but recently it started rebooting with long beeps while accessing the drive. I have checked with HDD vendor for drive replacement, but HDD turned out to be good and working as boot disk in my PC for past one month now. DVR works fine without HDD, but of not much use without that. Can someone please help me with troubleshooting. I suspect hardware reset or HDD cable change or power supply change would resolve it but need more guidance before I try these options. Thanks, Sanjay

Hi, I was not using this DVR for past 2 yrs, but after renovation at home, pulled it again and started working on this issue. The problem with recording and playback got resolved after hardware reset of DVR and changing SATA data cable. Thanks all for your support. -Sanjay

Hi Scorpion, I also have 761AS, but could not see any battery on system board. It loses time/date since I purchased 4 years ago. Can you point me to the location on board where battery needs to be soldered. BTW to my earlier post on DVR reboot while accessing HDD, it is resolved after resetting DVR to factory default using reset jumber and changing SATA data cable. Thanks, Sanjay

Thanks Rory, But does that option formats HDD or just clears the index. I have tried this multiple times but still it lists all previous recordings. My problem is It plays initial few recordings and reboot midway. But while playing recent recordings it just says "scanning disk" and reboots immediately. I am looking forward to low level format the disk before trying a new one. -Sanjay

So that's the reason I do not see an option to format disk. In that case will change the disk and check.

Thanks for responding to my query. Is there any way to format the HDD when installed in DVR. I am looking forward either format the disk or try a new disk. But could not find an option in DVR Advanced menu option to format the disk. Thanks Sanjay

Hi, I have same problem with my 2 yr old Atech 760. Whenever I try to play a recording it says "scanning disk" and just reboot with long beep. Can you please provide details on type of HDD used, as I remember I was told mine has 80GB SATA installed. But not yet opened it. Regards, Sanjay
