  1. I was at my clients today (im a computer guy), he has a 4 camera system DVR. I installed a USB KVM switch so he could switch between his PC and his DVR, so he won't need to swap the VGA cable back and forth anymore. After I installed the cable, we had 1 camera that was somewhat distorted. I unplugged a cable then plugged it back in, and now I have 2 cameras distorted. I removed the KVM and the same problem existed so I plugged the KVM back in. I checked all wires and nothing seems to interfere. I then unplugged all 4 cams (cat5 baluns) and played with different configurations and here are the results (which did not help me in a fix yet). Camera 1 works perfect all the time regardless of what is plugged in. Camera 2 works perfect when three to four total cams are plugged in, but will get distorted if two or less cams are plugged in. Camera 3 is blurry all the time, but is most distorted when plugged in alone, then less distorted with the second plugged, then even more less with third is added etc. Camera 4 has same symptoms as 3. If I unplug camera 4 and then just touch the BNC connector to the back metal area of the DVR, camera 4 gets just a bit less distorted and vise versa with camera 3. Does this ring any bells? Thanks.

    VGA to BNC adapter?

    Thank you!
  3. My old DVR used BNC to go to the monitors. I put in a Geovision card into a computer now and have VGA and DVI out. I need two displays, and the problem im having is one of my displays is 80-100 feet away, and currently is a rg59 cable which worked great for the BNC monitor. But now, i'll have a VGA/DVI instead, and I want to know if I can somehow still use that rg59 cable, or do I need to somehow run a long VGA cable. A quick google search didn't show any simple DVI to BNC adapters. Thanks
  4. I fix computers for a living and one of my clients had a camera system crash on him and the installer has since bellied up, so i'm in charge of getting it back running. The original computer would just crash every few hours, so I got used system, p4 with intel chipset to take its place. It has a gv650 card and im running the 6x software. The problem i'm having is the software keeps closing itself out then reopening it and all my changes aren't there. The only thing i'm changing right now, is I'm turning off all cameras so the computer won't beep at me. After it reboots itself, the computer beeps again. I'm trying to get everything running off site so I can just walk in and plug it in, and not fumble around trying to set it up in front of my client. Since i have 0 cameras plugged in, is this normal for it to keep rebooting itself and problem will go away when i plug them in? Thanks!
