What is the general feeling about PTZ cameras? I'm thinking about putting a couple around a residental home for added security.. One in the Front yard and one in the back. There are a couple selling on ebay in the $1,000 range. (see below link) I've read about the ones with AI that will patrol/pan and when motion is dectected it will lock on and follow the subject.. anyone have experience with that type? Concerned about realiability.. More moving parts unsually means more broken parts. Any comments are appriciated. What do you think about this one? http:// http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3088260279&category=48629

I'm looking for suggestions for an underwater color bullet style camera for a reasonable price. Most of the underwater bullets that I've seen have been black and white. Any suggestions? Another question.. The B/W underwater one that I've seen has IR lights.. Do you think these would work underwater? Here is the link to the Black and White one and a Color one I found.. Let me know what you guys think.. Thanks http://www.supercircuits.com/store/prodinfo.asp?number=PC81UW&variation=&aitem=1&mitem=1 [/url]http://www.spyhiddencamera.com/products/28/ax808c.htm

Good underwater color bullet camera
MiamiBeachBum replied to MiamiBeachBum's topic in Security Cameras
Rory, You said I would be better off with a true day/night camera.. Is the one in the link I posted not a "true day/night"... This is from the description... Displays brilliant Sharp color by day, and when all the lights go out, the built-in sensor auto switches the sensor to activate the black and white camera and deploy the infrared illuminators (all 12) when necessary... BTW this camera is going to be used inside an inground swimming pool.. Just thought it would be cool to be able to see under the water in the pool as part of a geovision system. -

I'm installing a cyberdome PTZ that will run off a geovision card.. It's my understanding that I can use UTP wiring or coaxial. Running either wire is just as easy for me. What is the advantage and disadvantage of each? Thanks

I've bought a geovision GV600-16 that I think may be a pirate card. Is their anyone here that I could send a couple of pictures through email that may be able to tell me if it's bogus? I looked at the pictures of the pirate cards on geo's site but that didn't help much. I couldn't post the pictures since I have nowhere to post them. Thanks

pirate Geovision Card. Who can tell one?
MiamiBeachBum replied to MiamiBeachBum's topic in Geovision
I posted some pictures.. http://photos.yahoo.com/rayslack there is a geovision sticker above the pins.. Where I believe there should be an engraved geo number.. I haven't tried to remove the sticker.. I emailed geo the pictures last week but haven't heard back from them. As for the 10,000 reward... I'm sure they have never or would never pay it.. Too many hoops to jump through and loopholes for them to get out of it. I did get remove the sticker and there is nothing printed on the card below it. -
I'm thinking about getting a slow 30fps card for 16 cameras and a realtime 480fps Card. Since of the 16 cameras there should only be 3-4 camera recording at once. My question is: does this realtime viewing with the card of 480fps work when viewing the cameras over the internet? or over a network? Most of the viewing of the cameras will be done by laptops or computers on the home's network. (located in the home). Will these images be at 480fps with the real time card?

I just bought a cyberdome camera and need to get a housing.. Couple of questions: 1. Is there a difference in terms of quality and erase of wiring or use between the coaxail and the UTP interfaces? 2. The camera is located in Miami Florida. It will be mounted outside. So, it's hot most of the time. Do you guys think I need to get the housing with the heater/fan? 3. What do you guys think about these prices? (see link below) Can anyone here beat them? I'm thinking about the 7-inch pendant housing, coax interface, with heater and fan. Also an install question. Do you need a keypad for the cyberdome or just control it from Geovision? I found this next to PTZ's supported by Geo. Kalatel Dome *use KTD-312 and KTD-410 Converter as RS232 to 422 converter Does this mean I don't use the GV-net? Thanks http://www.cctvtime.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=877&cat=Cyber+Dome+Housings

question on Kalatel cyberdome housings
MiamiBeachBum replied to MiamiBeachBum's topic in Security Cameras
So that mean's I would have to buy both of those to control the camera with geovision? Crap.. That's a extra $400. -
So if I have a 30fps card (gv-600) and a gigabit network with no traffic I can see realtime 480fps over the house's network without the Realtime card?

Can you control a pelco PTZ from the geovision software without using a joystick ? Basically can you control the zoom and pan from the web interface of geo? Thanks

I bought this computer to either run a home Geovision GV800 16 camera setup or run my Home MP3 juke box. The security setup with only record 2 or 3 cameras at a time max.. I will be set for motion dectection around a residence.. Mostly used for real time viewing. So, I figure I don't really need a huge Hard Drive. My questions are: 1. could it do both mp3 jukebox and geovision? 2. If not recommend to do both how does it look for just running the geovision? Anything I need to add? Any problem areas? 3. How many PCI slots does a 16 port setup take up? I'm also getting the 450fps realtime viewing card. Thanks for your help.. Computer specs are below. Question on real time card..
MiamiBeachBum posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hello, I am planning a 16 camera system for my home.. I was going to get a 120 or 240 fps card but after thinking about it.. I'm mostly going to be using the system for what was that "bump in the night" type stuff.. And only the exterior camera will records probably no more than 2-3 at a time and most often only 1 at a time.. So, I think I may be better off to go with a 16port 30fps card and buy a realtime viewing card... I'll also be using the system to monitor the camera views through the internet while away and also just while in the house... I have networked elo touch screens built into the walls that I want to be able to pull up a browser and view the cameras.. Anything flawed with this thinking or anything I may be missing? Also that site turbocctv.com doesn't seem to sell the Real Time card, but I remember seeing them somewhere and seem to recall them being about $500.. Is this correct? Where can I get one at a good price? Thanks for your input..\ -
Anybody know about the Itellicam Day Night cams??

squale.... Did you ever get one of these cameras? If you did are you happy with it? THanks Ray -
Hello everyone, I'm installing a 16 camera geovision and only have 14 cameras, so I figured I'd have a little fun with the last few.. I was thinking about installing an underwater bullet camera at the end of the inground swimming pool that is being built. Any + or - opinions on this? Just thought is would be interesting to watch and could also be a good way to keep and eye on the kids.. I was thinking to have the pool company just leave a hole about 1" in the end wall and install some type of clear lens or glass over the hole. Then set the bullet inside behind the glass. That way the camera would not be getting wet and it wouldn't be embedded in the concrete of the pool and could be dug out and replaced if needed.. Any opinions, feedback or camera recommendations are welcome. Thanks J

security camera inside Pool (underwater)
MiamiBeachBum replied to MiamiBeachBum's topic in Security Cameras
Any suggestions on how I could make it work? How much ventalation do they need? What if I ran the 2" pvc pipe up and vented it to the outside.. Then it wouldn't be totally enclosed but the distance would be about 15 feet to the area where I could bring the pipe out of the ground.. Do you think that would be enough ventalation? Any other ideas? Thanks J -
what are the alternatives for PC-BASED CCTV backup system ??
MiamiBeachBum replied to tom's topic in General Digital Discussion
I would recommend just adding a 2nd or 3rd hard drive to your computer.. You can get a 200gig on ubid for $130.00.. Add two of those to your computer. -
security camera inside Pool (underwater)
MiamiBeachBum replied to MiamiBeachBum's topic in Security Cameras
I was thinking maybe something like below.. I assume that the lens section unscrews from the camera, right? and since it's all water proof.. I could have the pool contractor put a 1 1/2 or 2" pvc pipe through the 8" concrete wall of the pool. Then put the unscrewed lens part of the camera flush with the interior pool wall and cement around it. That way the only thing perminately attached is the lens.. If the camera broke in the future. I could dig up the area outside the pool open the back of the pvc pipe and unscrew the camera from the lens (which would be the part embedded in the pool wall) and replace it with a new camera (attaching the new camera to the embedded lens) Does this make sense? Any better ideas? Thanks Ray http://www.eagle.co.za/display_product_2019.htm -
