Hi, Wonder if anyone can shed light on this - I have a trusty old SA 5108 and for some reason Remote Console no longer works. As far as I can see, all the settings in the DVR are correct and indeed have not been changed. It used to work fine, but I've not used it in a while so can't say when it stopped working. The webviewer (on a web browser) works ok as does the Aver app on iPhone, but if I try to log in on Console Viewer I get a message saying "Login Server Failed !!!" IP address is correct, as is the port number. Operating system is Win7 but out of curiosity I also tried it on a WinXP box and it's the same on that.. It's as if the server service on port 5550 isn't running.

Sounds like you're in the same boat as me Harry. I've been trying to sort this for a long time and have stuck with the old NV for now. I've spoken to Aver who tell me there's no SDK available and it's not possible to grab the jpgs from a URL. Does anyone know of any other DVRs that will return either a jpg on a URL or an MJPEG stream on a URL?
-
No I haven't - that looks a lot better! But what I really want to do is put live streams on my own website - the cameras are speed domes and I can write the controls into the website, but just can't figure out how to show the streams.
-
Thank you Tom - a good place to start. I was hoping though that it would be possible to grab a direct mjpeg stream from a URL off the DVR. As an example, an mjpeg stream from a video server I use is accessed by using: http://IP-ADDRESS/GetData.cgi?framerate=25&resolution=352x288

Hello, Does anyone know how to grab the video stream from an Aver DVR (either a Nano or an SA) so it can be incorporated in a web site without using the awful Aver WebViewer, Cheers.

Ok, I've deleted both apps and reinstalled, but it's still the same. The Orange AVerDiGi iViewer is v3.1.0.0009 28th Jan 2011 The Green DSS iViewer is also v3.1.0.0009 18th Feb So if there is one released 2 weeks ago, then it's not the version on iTunes. I don't know anyone with a nokia, but I can easily connect with Handy Viewer using any web broswer, I can also connect with Remote Console and I can connect via the standard Web interface with no problems at all. It's just the app which doesn't work on either the iPhone, Ipod Touch, or iPad. Very odd.

What a small world! I'm in Vicars Cross at the moment! Must admit, I'm very grateful for all the help. Do have you any more ideas? Did the version numbers give you any idea of what's wrong? It's very odd that I can't get to the DVR you sent earlier either, but I can get to that DVR through the web using /mobile to see the handy viewer jpgs. My understanding is that the app simply takes sequencial refreshes of the handy viewer jpgs rather than an mjpeg stream, so since on the SA series, handy viewer does not use a username and password, maybe the app is not compatible with the SA implementation of handy viewer? This would explain the authorisation problem since there is no authorisation protocol in the SA handy viewer and yet the app is trying to provide one?

No way! Whereabouts?

Not sure what you mean as updates on the iPhone as apps always inform you of updates - but it's definitely using the latest version of the viewer app. I'm in Chester, Cheshire, Mark

Ok, now it gets weirder! I was fully expecting that to give me images, but it's just the same as when I log into my dvr, giving the "no authorized!" pic. I can tell you have a 16 cam dvr, but no images. The odd thing is that I can use the app to connect to the demo site at live.dss.com.tw on port 80 absolutely fine and watch the Taiwanese motorbikes! I have also tried connecting to your dvr on my ipod touch using both wifi through my isp and also through a mifi(on T-mobile) to prove it's not my local network - and I get the same results. Now I'm really puzzled.

Sorry for the delay - had to sleep Ok - F1 produces this:

Really hate to say this, but I already tried that one and no go. I installed it again from your link, and again it is the same as before. I wonder if it's maybe the DVR software version that's throwing a bug? Mark

Yep, all cameras ticked! As I say, all users work fine for web access and in Remote Console, Mark
-
I figured it was a user rights issue, so good to hear that confirmed. The user Mark and of course admin are both administrators and so have access to all cams. Mark and admin work perfectly using web access and remote console for all cams. I have tried logging in as admin, also I have tried Mark with and without the correct password for that user and also tried admin with and without the password. I have also tried creating a new login called user which is not an administrator and assigned all cameras and that does not work either. Kinda puzzling!

Yep - Handy Viewer works perfectly on a web browser, both on Lan and Wan. Attached is a screenshot of Handy Viewer working ok (dark outside!) and also pics of what I see on the iPhone app:
