Even my cheap cameras and $200.00 DVR cameras captures better images then that. That is certainly not an accurate representation of analog technology today. -

I think that analog picture from TheWireGuys is an innacurate representation of today's analog technology which is considerably better then shown. There is no doubt that IP is higher resolution but Analog is not nearly as bad as portrayed in that picture. -

ANALOG CAMERA TESTS: Left = NEXT Gen DSP Right = Effio DSP Any questions just ask. -
What bad experience did you have?
-
If this is true then it sure sounds like someone at Arecont is doing all the right things to help lose customers quickly. That's sad considering I heard some good things about Areconts image quality. Getting bad merchandise that needs to be returned can tick off a customer. Getting bad merchandise that the manufacturer refuses to accept back is a sure way to doubly irritate the customer.

Poor quality control is that what you are referring to "Soundy"? Too bad they might as well make it in china. -

What a helpful quote. Can we find out why? -
There has to be enough light as to safely illuminate the area for pedestrians. Regardless of the time of day people are entitled to be safe on public property.
-
The fact that is was requirement to put in the light fixtures indicates to me that they are supposed to be used. Why would you put the safety of others in jeopardy just to save a buck? If you had a business in my area and you turned off your lights at night I would probably choose not to do business with you as your actions would indicate a disregard for the safety of others.
-
Using and testing both Effio-E & P I must agree that there is little difference between the two. I would actually say that Effio-E worked better at night at long distances then Effio-P did.

I would rather keep the lights. The city doesn't turn off the lights to save money do they?

Need help with a home system after two break-ins
nDAlk90 replied to brasskey's topic in Digital Video Recorders
This is a big house. Here is what I would recommend. 1. Install door and window contacts on every accessible window / door (first floor and basement windows are of highest priority) 2. Install glass break detectors and motion sensors for alarm in large rooms and hallways. 3. Install sirens at following locations: - Front Door - Back Door - Garage Doors (With Strobe) - Interior of house 4. Install exterior perimeter motion lights. 5. Install Security Cameras at following locations: - Front Door at eye level (doorbell) and second camera right above door frame (for overview shot) - Underneath Garage Door frames (for good facial identification) - By all other doors and large windows. - Cameras looking at driveway - Cameras looking at gate entrances - Camera inside garage These are just what I would recommend doing. The alarm should be monitored and the security equipment should be kept in a locked closet also protected by a secure steel door. -
The funny think is that my local Costco has few cameras except those on the perimeter of the outside exterior emergency exit doors. They are renovating now so I wonder if they will add to their system.
-
Wow... This is the application where having 4 IP cameras makes sense and having 14 analog cameras is overkill.
-
Wow. That Costco has 7 cameras just for the gas station alone. I wonder if they are using IP?
-
Unbelievable. This is an impulsive person. He was considering if he should take it or not for a while. What camera was that recording him?

I agree that Samsung model seems to be a pretty poor camera. I have seen $50.00 cameras handle wide dynamic range better then that. I think that camera should be returned if possible and another camera can be bought with an actual mechanical cut filter and real WDR feature. I don't know about you but I would strongly consider the Secolarm camera. Look at where your doorbell button is, sometimes the wire the builder uses has more then 1 pair and you have an extra pair which you can use.

Questions for you PRO CCTV Intallers..?? Pay? Misc? Q n A?
nDAlk90 replied to johnny916's topic in Test Bench
Its against code in areas where large people congregate like churches, malls, etc. That's because if you have a fire indoors PVC releases toxic gases. That however doesn't mean you cant use it outside above ground. NEC doesn't exclude its use from residential or outdoor environments. If it was against code in the US why would Home Depot sell it? -

The PVC I have seen always is rated and can be used above ground with direct sunlight. What PVC do you use? -

Do you mean how to get the wire through the pipe? I would put a pull string in it and then pull the wire. But at 400ft, you will need 40 pieces of 10ft long conduit. For this reason keep the bends and turns in the conduit at a absolute minimum.
