    Opinion on this system

I would recommend you look into an IP system. Video quality and resolution is much better then analog. Dahua branded systems are very good and widely recommended on this forum. 2. I don't understand. From what I have seen usually garage doors need a momentary connection (perhaps about 500 ms). Why do you need a pulsing trigger? On residential garage doors I have seen at least that will just start the garage door, pause it and then reverse it... Yep. Got it. Exacq can do pulses, right?

    For sale or trade

You do know in some states this is not allowed right? In Florida they allow it?
  4. Yep... I don't think the quality is so great for an IP camera.
  5. Is it me or does that video look like analog quality?
  6. You need a POE switch. TRENDnet makes a highly rated one... TRENDnet TPE-S44: http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-8-Port-100Mbps-Switch-TPE-S44/dp/B000QYEN1W I would recommend motion light... Natural light coming on unexpectedly can make people look up and then you will most likely get a clear and nice face shot. P.S: I think you are making a big fuss over buying from a brick and mortar store. Over all my purchases online if I ever had a problem with a purchase (relatively rare) one call or email to merchant usually solved problem and if not the cc company usually does.
  7. The following cameras are good for low light and have very good quality at an inexpensive price: Dahua IPC-HFW2100N http://www.amazon.com/Dahua-IPC-HFW2100N-1-3MP-Security-Camera/dp/B008NRWESS/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1343068963 Dahua IPC-HFW3200Cn http://www.amazon.com/Dahua-IPC-HFW3200CN-Security-OUTDOOR-3-3-12mm/dp/B008NZVG9I/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1343068934

    +1 That's a nice unit. http://www.amazon.com/AVerMedia-Technologies-NEH1004HN-EH1004H-Hybrid/dp/B004NBZB2O
  9. Yes, "who knows" , but I know I won't be driving in front of shockwave's place, with the PTZ and the 12am nails he puts on the road, "just to see what the camera picks up". HAHHAHAHAHAHA
  10. Some people on this forum recommend Blue Iris VMS for the software. Its an inexpensive VMS and supports a wide range of IP cameras. http://blueirissoftware.com/ In terms of cameras I would recommend Dahua if you are looking for relatively inexpensive yet high performance cameras. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=dahua+ipc
  11. How exactly can you tell who is authorized and who is not? Quote from B&H websie: "B&H sells most products with a warranty from the manufacturer or from the manufacturer's licensed importer. We also sell some products we've obtained from sources other than the manufacturer or its licensed importer. These are "grey market" products." http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/HelpCenter/USGrey.jsp

I think I would have to agree... IP cameras have a noticeable quality difference from analog. Dahua products which are often recommended on this forum are inexpensive and yet have very good quality. I have tested a few of their models and have been impressed. I should be posting some sample pics in a few days. You can find their products sold re-branded, or by doing a Google search you can find them sold under the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) name like from links below. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=dahua+ipc http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=dahua+ip&_sacat=0&_odkw=dahua&_osacat=0

    Preschool security design

The Dahua IPC-HDB3200C is a nice camera. I ordered a unit online to test and really like it. Its a small camera and is inexpensive. I should be upgrading my entire system to IP shortly. In the process now of running the cat5e as before I was using Rg59 Siamese... Found them for under $200.00 online so how can you go wrong? http://www.dahuasecurity.com/English/product_info.aspx?type=339&&css=0&&id=8

    Dahua HD-SDI

Has anybody tried Dahua HD-SDI? Feedback? Has anyone seen night time performance video quality? M-4SaaMKVLw
  15. Because people who have no commercial interest in selling product on their site are blocked and those are the people who were actually interested in helping and not here on this forum for business promoting activity.
  16. The problem is that when I tried to help, by giving that poster the website to b a h m a s s e c u r i t y where rory detailed the RTSP string for various Dahua devices the website is blocked from being posted in forum or PM...
  17. Why do you think company's create proprietary brand names? Anyway you slice it all links back to them. Why is this forum not recommending real brand names / original equipment manufacturers (OEM's)? Instead some people are recommending importers who put a new sticker on a product and pretend they manufacturer it. Seems like you don't even let the customer choose where to purchase a product if you just recommend a proprietary brand name or model number which links back to one site.

    New Dahua DVR

If your going to spend the money on a 960H, why not go to IP system? Why are you considering 960H?

    Aposonic A-E650 Info out there?

Is standalone OK? Any particular reason you looking for a PC based unit?
  20. What a wonderful thing a forum can be. It allows each of us to voice our opinions. shockwave199 thank you for putting this into words. Each case requires a new perspective and solution. If someones budget only allows for a analog solution isn't it wonderful that they still have a choice to buy and use it. Isn't it wonderful that you still have a choice what solution to choose for you. Your needs at home for monitoring 1-2 cars can be different to the needs of a supermarket needing to monitor 200 cars.

    converting old rj45 cameras

There are many ways to build a camera system. I have never seen your setup and thus can only offer generic advice. If you have unique circumstance for a 4ch camera system (multiple power boxes, power box in separate area from dvr, etc, etc.) then you may either tell us of those so we can give more specific advice or this is the best I can personally offer. Good Luck.

    converting old rj45 cameras

Well a few of my thoughts on this. Cat5e takes less space in conduit, hides easier behind vinyl siding, looks less conspicuous (if you use white Cat5e on white wall), has a smaller cable diameter and is compatible with IP for future needs and changes. This device is a balun, audio, and power connector for sending analog video with cat5e cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-UTP-RJ45-BNC-Audio-Video-Balun-Connector-for-CCTV-Camera-/330753321672 Using something like this gives you power, video, and audio (check with your local state laws if audio can be legally recorded) over one cat5e, and when you have the Cat5e in place at camera locations, upgrades to IP can be easier in the future. Siamese Cable or Rg59 +18/2 sometimes gave us better picture in analog systems when run close to power lines or some other sources of interference.
  23. I agree. All subway restaurants I have ever seen have multiple cameras. The space is usually small (usually less then 1500sqf) and analog might just fit their needs and budget. That camera was probably put too see the counter area from the customer side. It captured the face well enough in my opinion. I have seen worse quality and fov.
  24. Sure... I'd use the free gas for myself
