That would be great. I still haven't got one. Here is a URL that you can get the manual from: http://home.comcast.net/~kg6mti/downloads/GeoUM_8.0.zip Enjoy!

I assume at this point everyone who wants the user manual has found a copy. If not PM me and I can post a zip for the 8.0 user manual.

I have some Mace CAM53CIR that I am very happy with. I was able to purchase them off Amazon.com for just a little over $100 each. If you would like to see sample images let me know and I will be happy to send you some. I have the camera's mounted in very similar places as you have described.

Am I the only one that is curious that you can download the v8.0 software from this site but not the official Geovision website. From what I can tell the EZcctv.com company is a legitimate company.

Can anyone provide more detail on the Geovision modem server feature. Is there a manual that can be downloaded to detail the features and functionality? I have look through the Geovision 7.05 manual and there is only references to turining on the modem server feature and being able to access remote viewing via a modem. Specifically what I am looking for is can it be set to answer after a specified number of rings? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Thanks for the information. I had found the same on the net. But it is great that someone posted it so others may also benefit.

I have a couple of camera's outside that get little spots on the lenses from the fog at night. Would a camera with a built in heater solve this problem?
-
I found the camera. [edit by mod-sorry no links from websites that sell at dealer pricing] Can anyone provide some sample images from this camera?
-
How about a link to that camera? I did a Google and was not able to find anything. Thanks!

If it's still providing a signal and good quality video it isn't broken. I wouldn't fix it. The parts I would examine are the ends. Are they getting loose? If so you might want to just change out any loose ends. I agree with the previous post depending on the environment the cable will last a very long time.

Where is Sacramento are you. I am also in Sacramento.

What are you going to be viewing? It will make a difference in what type of camera you need. Will the camera's be outside or inside? Do they need to be hidden or seen? Do they need to be able to see in the dark, low light or lights on only? You will want to decide what frame rate you are looking for. Do you only need still images or do you need real time video (30+ fps). How many camera's total will you have or begin with?

Thanks for the tip. I just spend about an hour searching and checking old posts. I have searched for the following: 1. "geovision modem server" 2. "modem server" 3. "geovision modem" 4. "modem" 5. "modem at commands" 6. "modem s registers" 7. "at commands" 8. "s registers" I have tried to use the "Search all terms" option and with out it. But I reall turned up nothing on the forum. I do know that the S0 register controls the number of rings and I could set the S0 register to the number of rings I desire. The issue I need to answer is does the Geovision software for the modem server have its own settings for features like this? When using the Geovision modem server do I have to configure the modems AT commands and the Sx registers manually or does the Geovision software take care of it? Or all all the modem settings configured from the Windows Control Panel? It would be helpful if anyone has more insight into these questions. Thanks!

Yet another good suggestion. But it would also be nice to be able to forward the email to another person that does not know the URL and allow them to just click the link already in the email. Thanks!

Is there a way to configure the email notification from the GeoVision system to change the "Server Address" to a fully qualified domain name or at least a different IP address? When I get my email notifications they contain the local IP address and that will not function as a valid URL when I am outside the local network.
-
What I am looking for is to have the link available from any PC no matter where I check the email from and have the link be valid. Thanks!

[edit by mod] Sorry I do not have any experience with that particular DVR. But you might try doing a Google and see if you can find and reviews of that particular manufacture or product. Good Luck!

Well last Friday I recieved my Geovision GV-800 from http://www.digitalwatchguard.com/. I had talked with a sales representative named Nick and he was outstanding. He was very helpful with getting the information I needed to help me make a decision on what card to buy. He even called me back to see if I had any additional questions or if I needed more information to make a decision. They shipped the card right out that day and I recieved it right when I asked them to get it to me. The price I recieved when I made the purchase was extremely reasonable and much lower than the prices on the website. If you are seriously interested in the Geovision product line I would highly recommend Digital Watchguard. The card installed with absolutely no problems and the system is up and running at this moment. Though I might want to add that I am a person that reads the manual before I do anything. Yes, I download the manual from the Geovision site to read while I waiting for the order to arrive at my home. Although there are many options that still need to be configured and tweaked the basic setup is complete and I am more than extremely happy with the Geovision system. I am in no way connected to Digital Watch guard or Geovision. I simply made my decision based on information that I recieved from users on this forum and throughout the internet. I had also seen the banner adds for Digital Watchguard.

How did you pay? Many credit cards offer protection for returns. This is why I always use my American Express card. They will protect me for returns and will even refund me any restocking fees that I get charged. Good Luck! -
Can anyone confirm for me the specs on a Geovision GV-800 card. When it states that the card is a 120 fps (NTSC) does that mean that each channel records at 120 fps or is the 120 fps divided by the total number of channels being recorded? For example GV-800 120 fps (NTSC) with 6 cameras. Does each camera record at 20 fps (NTSC)? Thanks!

Good point! Thanks!

I am located in the Northern California area. But what difference would that make if I purchase from an authorized Geovision dealer can't FedEx or UPS still deliver to California. I am interested in knowing where everyone else gets their parts and has experienced good prices, fast shipping and great customer support. As much as everyone here talks about Geovision cards I would expect this to be a very easy question for some really experienced users. Thanks!

To keep a long story short stay away from ADT. I just had a very bad experience with ADT. I decided to install a system on my own and I am much more happy now.

You described the problem fairly well. Does the problem occur on a regular pattern? For example if you track the time in between the black outs is it away s the same? Is it always 5, 10, 15 minutes or what ever? If there is a pattern find other items near by that are cycling in the same pattern. Disconnect that item if possible. Then see if the problem goes away. Try connecting the power to the camera on a UPS that has voltage regulation. Depending on the camera you might want to bench test the camera. Take the camera down from its mount and use a short test coax cable and power source. Just connect the camera to the RCA input of a television and watch for the interference to occur. If the camera works fine on the test bench you have just ruled out the camera as the source. Then you can work on ruling out the mounted coax and power supply. You need to use a linear process to eliminate and or isolate the component causing the problem. Good Luck and I hope some of this helps you out.

That camera looks very similar to the one that I already have. I checked the specs and it looks like it has better resolution that mine. Mine is 420 lines and the CAM53CIR is 470. I am willing to give this camera a shot. Can anyone recommend a good place to order them on the internet? It always makes me gives me a better piece of mind when others have ordered from a company and can tell me their experience was positive. Thanks!
