    Interference problems with Swann camera

Right, ok. I've bought a 9v 500ma supply, hoping this will cure the problem. Plugged it in and the camera doesn't even power up! I'm bemused about what to do next, do you think there's any point in contacting Swann?!

    Interference problems with Swann camera

Right right, I'm with you, though to be honest I've always taken specs on websites with a pinch of the heart attack inducing stuff so I was just wondering if you had additional knowledge of it somehow. Ok i think I might have a 9v psu somewhere I'll give that a go see what happens... Do you think it worth me contacting Swann tho? Thank you!

    Interference problems with Swann camera

Ok, how do you know it's rated at 9v (so that I can go back to Swann and ask them for a power supply that won't cause this issue!)? Odd thing is by the time I got home from work yesterday, about 730pm, the interference had stopped so it comes and goes all by itself, why is that do you think?

    Interference problems with Swann camera

No it's not light level, it's doing it during the daytime now also... it just seems to be when it's been on a while it starts having this creeping interference problem. The power supply is rated at 12V 0.3A Example picture from camera showing interference...
  5. Hi all I recently installed a Swann CCTV camera to cover my front door, specifically this one: http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/43903/Swann-DCC-Dome-Colour-Camera---400TVL---Super It works well but after a few hours (mostly towards dusk it seems) the picture is distorted by severe interference in the form of thin completely horiztonal lines, if you've ever seen "RoboCop" it looks not unlike the view from Murphy's point of view! But if you interrupt the power when the camera restarts the interference goes away for a while. So this can't be a cabling fault and must surely be a camera fault or have I missed something obvious here? Thanks, Andrew/

Identifying DVR and suitable hard disk for it

Hi It looks like the drive is simply incompatible, I tried the jumper settings as suggested, no difference. The DVR is actually made a company called LEPTA Technologies and they responded to a tech support email saying that they've used a variety of current drives in their DVRs without issue, including WD, Seagate, Hitachi. They sent me a photo of a Hitachi Deskstar they currently use, went and bought a similar drive and it worked fine. Problem solved! However, still having problems somewhere.. i bought this to be used with it: http://www.henrys.co.uk/cctv/colourptzcctvcamera.htm And am finding that when storing presets it does not store zoom setting. LEPTA have just confirmed the DVR does normally store zoom settings so it must be something with the camera.. and this is now in the wrong forum i know! Thanks both of you!
  7. Hi I know I really should know better, but I've just bought this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170609211885&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT It's generic with no model name or number on it but the seller seemed helpful and has a 100% rating so i thought it should be ok. I planned to use an existing Western Digital WD2500KS SATA drive which should have worked since the seller said any SATA drive will work. Well it doesn't, it refuses to even recognise the drive as being attached. The drive works ok in a PC and the DVR can detect the hard disk from my laptop when I tried to test it with that so I know the onboard SATA controller is working. Trouble is the user guide gives no recommendations as to what hard disk to use so I'm worried about buying a drive in case it doesn't work also. Do you think the fact that the WD2500KS is a few years old is the reason here, perhaps it's just too old for this DVR?! Does anyone have any idea what make this DVR actually is or has any experience with it at all? I'm really stuck at the moment! Thanks! Andrew/
