Ok ... I take it that apparently there isn't anything that you can build yourself comparably for less than $1000?

If so, to me that isn't worth the time and labor of building it yourself, ordering the Samsung now and I guess I'll just order more of the 4 channels as the need arises.

Those get very expensive, which is why they weren't an option.

The Samsung SDE-3000 dvr seems to fit me very well except the fact that it is 4 channel. Does anyone have any suggestions on a spec comparable PC based system that would have expansion room for up to 16 cameras?
