  1. Hi, I'm in the process of setting up a small business but I haven't a clue about cctv systems and I'm reluctant to talk to any companies until I've done my research but to be honest I don't know where to start. To be honest I don't even know what questions to be asking so any advice would be welcome. Anyway, it's a small business located in the centre of a small (1.5 horse) town. It will already be monitored by an alarm system however I, myself, will not be nearby if the alarm goes off so I'd like the added piece of mind a cctv system provides. To be honest my main concern is not so much breakins (like I said it's a small town in a rural area - the kind where nothing goes unnoticed) so to be honest, even though there are valuables inside, (computers and other equipment namely) my main concern is to do with drunken idiots, bored teenagers or other vandals kicking the door, breaking windows etc, etc. Obviously a good security system is a great deterrant against theft but not so great against drunken lunatics in the throes of sloppy drunken bravado so if anyone does go at my premisis I'd like to be able to have a good look at them and, if needed, be able to pass a nice clear picture of them to the cops. So I guess what I'm looking at is an indoor system with decent nightvision with a good range - enough to cover say, 5M inside and also see out the front door. Secondly I'd like to have a secondary camera directly over the main counter area, something the size of a webcam would suffice, just to be able to keep an eye on the till and behind the counter when I'm not there. Ideally I'd rather not bother with tape, instead I'd like to go for some sort of hard disk system, preferably one which could record onto my computer if necessary. How processor and memory intensive would such a system be? And, for that matter, how much HD space would I realisticy need? Price range? I'm looking for something in the budget range, reliable, easy to use and install which is fairly flexible and can be moved around from one position to another with relative ease. Hope you guys can help me, or at the least, point me to another post where somebody asked the same thing. (tbh I didn't know where, exactly, to post this thread - there doesn't seem to be a specific area for noobs like me)
