Trying to get ddns to work. I have set up an account with noip.com and set the correct setting in the dvr network, but dvr will not update unless it is rebooted. When rebooted I try to log on with a computer or Android phone, outside my network, with noip hostname or either the current ip and the connection does not fail, but says the dvr did not respond to request. Ports 80, 37777, and 37778 are port forwarded and checked to be open except for 37778 which is not tcp. If I log on within my network as admin from pc and go to config tab, I see an option named Auto Register. What is this? Mine is enabled but not filled in with any info, all fields blank. There is absolutely no documentation on this. Another odd thing, which now doesn't really matter, is I set up an account with G4IP and when I go to add a dvr to my account it will not accept the mac address. This mac is right on the config screen of the dvr, so it should be correct. Error message from G4IP is "mac address not allowed on this sever". What's that all about?

Partial success. I can remotely view all cams on dvr with laptop or Andriod running g4ss, but only by entering in the current external ip. The Beldin N router will not update the dyndns.org. I can ping the host name, so it seems to be working. Router says "registration failed". I looked on the Belkin web site and I see that other users of my model are experiencing the same problem and there is no firmware update. So, it seems I may need a different brand of router. Thanks for your help.

Cleared out the dvr settings for ddns, set up account for dyndns.com, and enter all the settings in Belkin N router (which has dyndns built in service). Now I have a loopback error on router and when I logged back on to dyndns I see my router wan ip instead. Will work on this tomorrow.

I have a G4-RTAHD 8 channel with 7 Intellicam dome cameras, 6 outdoor and 1 indoor. DVR output is HDMI to 32" HD TV. All cams set on MD. Here is the problem: if the DVR hangs and has to be rebooted or is powered down then after boot 4 (1 indoor and 3 out) of the seven cams will false trigger together exactly every 60 seconds 24/7 for 4 or 5 days then the cycling process will stop and everything will work perfectly. During the cycling, rebooting or a complete power off does not help and the system sometimes reboots itself. I haven't tried one reboot after another to see if it helps. Unplugging one cam at a time and then reconnect does not stop it, nor does pulling the HDMI cable. HDD status report is "normal" (1TB), but the HDD light on the front panel is on and the OM says it's suppose to be off. Dealer say voltage to unit not constant, but is supplied by UPS. So, I connect the DVR directly into wall outlet and bypass the UPS (but cams still on UPS), didn't stop it. Now before I go to the trouble of sending this unit in for some sort of repair does anyone have another suggestion that I might try? Thanks.

I finally got my alarm notify to work, but it was by accident. I downloaded Rory's LiveVue demo and when I went back to use the Webcam the alert sound works. The download probably replaced a damaged or missing codec. (Thanks Rory) I now have IE 7 and the alarm still works and it pops up. Go figure.

When using the alarm notify option on the webcam at client pc and with the motion notify and alert sound both checked, I can't get any sound. The words motion notify appears at the top of the webcam but the buzzer sound will not work even though it has before. I have found buzzer.wav file in the windows folder and I can play it manually, so I know that works if it is the right file. Anybody had this problem? What's the fix? Geo 1240 card and ver 7.x at server.

Does anybody make a telescoping tool that will reach and clean outdoor camera lens that are mounted 10 to 15 feet above ground? I would like to be able to do this from the ground and not drag out the ladder.

I have been reading this message board for some time now and this is my first post here. I think I have a port problem I can't figure out, mainly because I don't know enough. First my system: PC based GV-1240 with 9 cams Web cam and Win XP Pro firewall enabled Buffalo WLI2-TX1-G54 wireless ethernet converter - WiFi No router and no Norton This is a system I installed at my farm shop in Dec. 2005 to keep an eye on things while I'm at home 4 miles away. Everything was install new and the computer is not used for anything else. Lately the web cam started acting up and would not let me connect to the server. I use the single window mode. Sometimes I can disconect the WiFi converter power and then reconnect to force converter reboot and regain web cam controll at client pc at home - sometimes not. I also have tried to connect by turning off the firewall at the sever. While the firewall was off "can't connect to server" message appears at home pc and also doing a telnet from there for ports 4550 or 5550 results in no connection. Port 80 of course does connect. Anyway today I downloaded and installed Active Port scanner from ezcctv web site and also their batch file to set up XP firewall for the GV-1240 card. I set the firewall to the default setting to clear out everything and then ran the batch file and it set up everything very nicely. Went back home and still no connection. Again went back to server late today and ran the port scanner and I see that my home computer is still connected to port 4550 even though its browser is closed, but the wireless internet connection is always on at both computers. Just got back home, disconnected internet (client pc) to see if I could break the connection, repowered, and sure enough web cam connects. Sorry for all the rambling, but what do I need to do here? Im' not 100% sure that is my problem, but that's what I'm guessing, it won't release the port. BTW when I did the Active port scan it reported that port 4550 was established (to my home IP) and port 5550 listning. Thanks for any help, I've got to buy some gas.

OK, put a router on the server if no other reason for better security and turning off xp firewall. After that I still had some trouble logging on the web cam so did a telnet for port 5550. It connected so I restart the web cam connection and this time it worked. I'm beginning to lean toward the wireless connection myself because after all this thing worked fo 60+ days without any problems and I used the web cam every one of those days. I'm running a continous ping every 15 seconds now and I see a couple of times there was no ping. My ISP has a recieving antenna on top a 250'+ building and I have LOS from server which is about 3 air miles away. I use and external dish antenna at the serve. My speed at the server lately is 1500 down and around 500 up. At best it will be 3000/1500, but they are doing some equipment upgrade and that may be the key to the whole issue.
