  1. Yes, but the aim is to:— save ALL video locally, AND — stream (not just file upload) video with motion onto a remote server I guess in order to have this, the camera / NAS must be able to generate/direct several streams, configurable separately. Is it common? Should I seek a solution having the feature explicitly outlined in its description, or should I assume that the feature is common and configurable on most modern IP cameras / NAS with surveillance?
  2. I am looking for a software (or probably a ready hard/softwarey solution) that would be able to: receive video from several IP cameras; record the video locally in loop; detect motion; selectively stream the video (when motion detected) onto a remote server in real time; the remote server would just save the video for later viewing I have found some solutions that are able to upload video with detected motion via FTP. However, this is not exactly what I need, because... Imagine that a burglar enters the room and finds that he is being recorded. He would just plug off the power cord immediately and so the file would not be uploaded via FTP. And he would also take the recording device so I would not have any recordings at all! And if the video was streamed off in real time, I would have the recording until the moment of powering off. That makes sense, doesn't it? Any suggestions or advices would be much appreciated. I have not bought any soft/hard ware yet, just started figuring out what to buy/install/configure. This would be just an advanced home security surveillance system. I suspect that I would need to install an agent / receiver software on the remote server. That would not be a problem if I knew the right one . Thanks in advance.
