Help w/IP camera selection & placement for difficult config
MrBostn replied to dmeals's topic in System Design
Hi, I won't be able to help with all aspects but I can help with the networking/server end. You mentioned you thought the company that bid over spec'd the server. Which leads me to this. 1. How many days of video do you want to keep? This will determine the amount of disk space you need. Also the higher the resolution the more space video takes up. The cost of hard drives are up close to triple due to the floods in Thailand. 2. You mention POE-Think about the length of the cable. POE will struggle with lengths over 300Ft. Positioning the POE switch is important. 3. The original quote had analog cameras. What card did they suggest? -
Yet another "which card" thread

You didn't mention a budget or if you want analog or IP or how many cameras. Anyway I kinda went thought the same thing as you. I searched and searched for info, finding little that applied to my appication. I settled on a NUUO SCB-7016. This controls 14 analog cameras. I built a socket 1155 Win7 64 pc with 6 hard drives. 2 for the OS, and 4 in a raid 10 for the recordings. Everyone is happy with it. Good luck -
NUUO vs Aver vs Geovison

So, I got the NUUO SCB-7016. Very happy with it. It's sitting in an i7-2600. 8GB RAM six drives. two drives for the OS (Win7 64) in a raid 1. 4 drives (WD Black 2TB) attached to an Adaptec 6405e raid controller. 14 analog cameras. Recording full D1 on all channels. The i7 is overkill. CPU usage is about 8-12%. I'm a novice at cctv and don't find the NUUO software an issue at all. So far I'm very happy with NUUO. An i5 probably would have been fine. We shall see after I add some IP camera later this year. Very stable. The four 2TB drives in raid 10 gave me 3.67TB of usuable space. I hope to fit 45 days of recordings on this. I hope this helps someone here. -

Your original post never mentioned cost. You can't find one for under $200. -
High res capture card win7 64
MrBostn replied to Mavrik's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You shouldn't be having a hard time. There are many cards to choose from. Geovision, Aver, NUUO. All have cards that can connect analog cameras and most if not all of those cards have have win7 64 bit drivers. -

What kind of HDD we need to choose?
MrBostn replied to marufai's topic in General Digital Discussion
I'm using 2 WD blues in raid 1 for the OS (win 7) and 4 WD 2TB Blacks in a raid 10 my first DVR build. The raid 10 controller is an Apaptec 6405e. The OS is using onboard Intel "raid" -

Geovison or Aver communicate via rs232 to C-Cure 800
MrBostn replied to MrBostn's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Good to know. I forgot to add there's a huge IStar cabinet in the "telco" closet. It's the controller for the door entries. They'd need about 6 maybe 8 connections tops. -
Geovison or Aver communicate via rs232 to C-Cure 800

I notice Geo has some I/O cards that look like they might be able to "talk" to a security access system. Has anyone tried this? http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/Prod_GVIO12outV3.asp I'm looking to communicate to a C-Cure 800 system. http://www.tycosafetyproducts-europe.com/english/products/access/ccuresoftware/ccure800software.asp I really want an Aver NV8416 but I don't see any Aver IO cards. Only Geo. Thanks -
NUUO vs Aver vs Geovison
MrBostn replied to MrBostn's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi Zach, From what I see NUUO has decent products. If you're a putting together a system without a NUUO integrator (partner) as I am, support might be suspect, as it is Asia based. I'll touch base with you today or tomorrow. Thank you, Scott -
Hi, A property management company I work for is finally replacing their dying Intellex DVR. They currently have 13 analog cameras. It's not likely they'll add any IP cameras. I'm looking at either the NUUO SCB-7016, the Aver NV8146, or the Geo 1480A. (all pci-e) The property manager just wants to be able to view from his desktop (on same lan) and burn any video from incidents from his pc. I'm drawn to the NUUO because of the hardware compression, and the full D1 recording from all channels. The pc that I'm building will have local storage. It could run either XP or Win7. 2TB of recording space. Any input will be appreciated, Thank you

MrBostn posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi, New to the dvr world but experienced building systems. System is for apartment building. Anyway-we're going to reuse the current 16 analog cameras-just replace the Intellex LT. Looking for card that provides best quality (D1?) Can spend $1200-ish on card alone. Motherboard will be Supermicro (CPU type TBD) maybe. sandy bridge. 16GB ram 2 AV-25 WD 160GB drives for the OS (win7 64) 5 WD Black 2GB drives in Raid 5 (need advice on raid for DVR's) Hardware based raid card (TBD) Geovision or Nuuo card -Advice needed. Thank you, Scott -
Update-I just opened the CD and began reading the manual. Sorry for the noobie post. Just got the card, waiting for some bnc cables. Just looking at the card, can anyone tell me what following do: 1. I/O connector (is that for stacking?) 2. The Watchdog and reset pins (I guess you short the reset pin to "reboot" the card??) I figure watchdog notifies you of a drive failure, how do you set it up? 3. TV out Link Connector. Thank you Scott
