I wish i could help. All of my experience is with raid5 which allows for 1 hotswap. That lets us replace them all as long as we allow the previous replacement time to recover. I'll try to research online to see if i can find an answer for you

i got mw3 on the xbox (lvl 13 prestige atm) i got bf3 on the PC (3rd general) So i put some time into both. Unfortunately the MW series has been on the same engine for what seems like an eternity, and it also has passed hands a lot. Any problem that was a core problem in CoD4 is still a core problem today. It does move smoothly but there is an issue with character animations that i find HIGHLY annoying. I'll see somebody that appears to be looking 90 degrees from my direction only to have bullets come out of their elbow, and even though it looks like that gun is in their hands it's really a turret mounted to the top of their head, so long as the tip of your head is above cover your can fire your gun over it. It makes for several places where people will simply camp because the risk of getting shot is low. With all the problems of the game they do offer a lot of fluff in the way of progression and unlocks which is their strongest point as i see. That fluff is such an important thing that they have esentially made the same game 6 times with just changing a few basic things: gun skins, maps, unlocks. BF3 has its issues as well but at least they had the brass to create a new engine which makes it a completely different game from the previous games. I play it on pc where it is up to 32 on 32 and the scale of the maps is simply awesome. Also it takes physics into account where bullets have travel time/drop. If i get 1 shot across the map on MW3 i assume its some 7 year old with a sniper rifle sniping towards an objective other than capturing said objective. If i get 1 shot across the map on bf3 i assume its some guy with a notepad on his desk calculating bullet drop over the distance vs. the velocity of his bullet load dependent on which gun he is using. Either way they are both campers, but i don't hate the bf3 one nearly as much because he won't be a threat consistently or a tank will eventually get him. Whereas the mw camper will annoy me because on my way to flank him another camper in a different corner will kill me on my way there lol. I like bf3 more due to the scale of the fights and the random epic things that happen (look at the video posted below) But i find myself playing mw3 more out of the 2 since most of my friends can be found there.

I am the surveillance manager/tech for a gaming property, i can't really go into more than that. We are currently remodeling an area that stores our "vault" Instead of a safe we are creating a room. It is approximately 4 foot wide by 6 foot long by 8 foot high with plexiglass boxes to hold a certain amount of strapped currency. These boxes will be on 2 of the walls. I plan on adding 2 still cameras, 1 in each corner, with crisscrossing shots. The problem is, a camera can only see so much, if someone stands or squats in front of one of these boxes, their hands will be unseen. To combat this i would like to add 2 camera's, about waist height to look along the edge of each wall of boxes. Looking at the doors into this room, i'm inclined to believe that the studs between the walls are 3 1/4 inch which doesnt leave much room for the cans we usually use, the Pelco df5-1 I know they make a smaller dome but that still leaves us with the bubble outside the dome that will stick out of the wall. One possible solution i have found is the Samsung SCD-2010. I have never used a board camera and i dont quite understand the spec's on it. I really dont want a fisheye lens and it doesn't have a lens that can zoom as it only defines it as 3mm. Any other suggestions? Thanks guys

That 2nd picture there is an active hub. We expanded a 2nd floor to our casino and used the NVT active hubs and PV or PVD baluns at each camera. It has worked pretty well for us so far BUT i did have one entire hub flake out on me last week. NVT holds a lifetime warranty on all of their products. The problem occured at 8 a.m. local time and i got on the phone right away. I swear to god i had another unit on property by 3:30 p.m. I don't know how they did it but NVT won me over for life right there. As far as table games go i agree 100% with survtech, do not place your cameras over the dealers shoulder, nor directly overhead of the table, get some sort of angle from the players side of the table to get some depth perception on chip stacks. As of right now i use Honeywell box cameras HD5 series. They have the option for color or BW. I tend to favor B/W just because of how clean the shots stay whereas i've had difficulty getting good focus out of my color cameras due to the aweful lighting on our property. I wrap these cameras in a Pelco df5-1 can/dome as i have yet to find any alternative houseing that i like. the df5 can be tight with certain baluns but it gives me the best range of motion since once a dome has landed it won't be moving due to the way our ceiling is designed, we have very few drop tiles, most of what i do are pendants from poles or hard lid ceilings.

without divulging too much (confidentiality) my casino is planning on a "non gaming" expansion. When speaking with an installer last month while he was on site for a maintenance contract i figured i would pick his brain a bit for how he would do such an expansion. Essentially the expansion will be somewhere between 50 to 64 cameras. We will have what they are telling me is a "wire closet" with rack space and wall space for power if we need it. What the other tech suggested was a 100 block between the closet and the DVR room. He suggested a cat-5 pushed to every camera from the wiring closet and a twisted pair for power (all cameras are analog Honeywell box cameras, HCCm474M, and a few Honeywell Acuix PTZ) With no more than 64 cameras i can order my encoders with UTP inputs and jump them directly into our DVR and bypass our switch (non gaming, i see no reason needing 1:1 live viewing) The PTZ will have to go through a type of DA that splits the UTP input into at least 2 BNC out so we can still use the switch for PTZ control (we dont use digital PTZ at all) I guess my biggest concern is the distance. I have not gotten complete specs on distance yet. How far can i expect to push video over UTP without a balun? This will be the longest runs that i've made. Most of my experience comes within our current property/parking lot. Haven't had to do anything special really yet! Thanks!

Thanks, This has taken a while to get off the ground but now the expansion is nearly here. I will be pushing 1 cat 5 to each camera and 1 twisted pair. the cat 5 will act as my video lines and the twisted pair for power. I requested this for future expansion as we are always adding cameras somewhere. That gives me 3 pair that i can use or splice into at each camera location. The twisted pair video will be going into an NVT hub that splits the video out over mini coax so it can go into our system easily. There are twisted pair encoders but oddly enough they require a different more expensive license (yay)

sorry for replying a year later here. Distribution amp. We run analog cameras into digital recording as well as an analog matrix switch. each video line comes in over the mini coax into a DA that amplifies the signal for splits. 1 input 3 equal outputs. one of the outputs goes into the switch, the other goes to the encoders>DVR. We do this for 1 to 1 real time video on gaming shots and PTZ control.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Supplier hooked me up with a couple of low profile recessed mini domes. The edge of the dome only sticks out about 2.5 inches. Only had them bumped into a couple of times. I wanted the mirrors too but they get a little strange whenever i make requests like that around here. Ended up covering the entire area with 2 overhead shots and 2 wall mounted shots about 3 feet up. It's a bit overkill but i suppose most of our system is overkill for the size of property we are on. Idea behind it was if one camera is blocked, the others will support, LP thing.

Hey everybody. Was browsing around for a wire labeler and came across this site. I am the surveillance manager for a casino in oklahoma. Before becoming the manager i was the surveillance tech. We run a honeywell enterprise digital recording system with a videoblox analog switch. We have around 300 inputs coming in over mini coax into a distribution amp that splits the line into our 2 systems. On the digital side it goes into an encoder that runs the video into our server and raid network. The other side simply goes into our video blox for real time 1:1 viewing and PTZ control. We use a mixture of older pelco small box cameras and newer honeywell small box cameras. Most of which are in a Pelco DF5 ceiling mount or pendant can. I stopped ordering pelco after they were bought out but i still prefer their domes as they are roomy and easy to get into. As far as PTZs we use the Spectra IV and the Honeywell Acuix PTZ. Hope to talk to a lot of you. It is rare to come across people who even understand what i am talk about, let alone understand maintaining these types of systems. Currently i'm browsing for a proper wire labeler. We are planning an expansion and instead of doing POE through an NVT solution (we've done that in the past and i did not care for it) i'm leaning towards still pushing a cat 5 to each camera with an 18-2 twisted pair for power. Doing the video over 1 pair and going directly into our encoders that way. This will leave me spare pairs incase a video or power wire goes south. But with all the extra pairs laying around it would benefit me to have a decent labeler that prints on the tubes that go around the wire more so than a sticker that usually ends up on the floor after a while.

why not a DA? wanting to avoid the cost?

indeed, looking forward to these boards! yeah, i was looking @ the rhino ones as well! seem pretty nice, pricey, but nice.

compressions were used on an expansion where i work before i became the CCTV tech. Every single one of them i was able to pull off with with my fingers. I have replaced every one with a crimp on BNC. Was a long process. Never used the twist on.
