  1. Best option from what I have read is to turn the IR off on the camera and buy a standalone IR Illuminator and mount it nearby the camera.
  2. If its ok, I'd like to piggyback on this thread. Is this PC too weak for this simple home camera setup? It's an old system I have collecting dust. Sorry, was just one of the first videos I could find for my phone. I'll totally admit to my noobness about cameras, but I'm learning as I read more.

    Newbie Questions

Good thread, I've had the same questions being new to cctv as well. After looking through footage (still looking for what system I'll end up buying) and just scratching my head wondering why the video in ~$3-400 ip cams is so horrible compared to my Samsung Fascinate cell phone that takes amazing video day or night for a cell phone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfPwpWsadPw. I guess the market just isn't 'there' yet. [edit] That Vivotek IP8332 looks pretty good btw! Have not seen it before now.
  5. Does anyone have any camera images of this series of sony chip? Amazon has one for $60, 540TVL in a outdoor dome with IR. I've looked all over and have found nothing. Looks like the camera would be just above entry level. New to the forums, looking at getting a few cameras (don't need anything amazing) along with a DVR (Linux US411L for $120). Also I know Amazon isn't the place to buy anything good for video, just rough estimating some prices and gear.
