Motion detection software
t3chsupp0rt replied to the lemming's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you read my last post you can see I said yes I get MD records from animals (when they pass into my grid of MD) but I don't have shadows or weather to worry about because my camera is mounted where it's always shaded, and yes I did forget to mention when snow or rain or wind blows branches into my grid I will get recordings, (big DUH) Just assumed we all knew what a motion grid was. I guess not " title="Applause" /> How can you guarantee something you know nothing about. You obviously are using the same systems and like to stick with it. Try other brands my friend you will see what I'm talking about. -
Motion detection software
t3chsupp0rt replied to the lemming's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Sure I get alerts when something passes into my grid of motion detection, i've picked up cats, dogs, birds. Never anything smaller. Not using email alerts at the moment but I can enable remotely in the event I do need them turned on. -

False I have a camera mounted under my front door and overlooks my walkway, driveway and street. I ONLY get recordings when people walk up my driveway or front door walkway. Never since setting up my motion detect region to mask the street have I had emails or recordings sent from street motion. Maybe your just using the wrong equipment -
Hello Is it always the same cameras going off? Have you tried cameras that don't shut off in spots of the cameras that do. How many POE switches are you using? is it always cameras on the same POE switch. Try a few things like swapping The ports on POE switch see if the issue follows to new port. Also what are you powering thePOE switch with? UPS installed?

Network Camera Monitoring.
t3chsupp0rt replied to faisal.tarar123's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Could be case sensitive issue, or low bandwidth and the cameras only response for issue is "invalid password" try power cycling the camera, or assigning it a new IP address -
Any ideas how to read and convert .264 files
t3chsupp0rt replied to the lemming's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Would you be willing to supply a backed up file (something around 1-5mb) doesn't have to have video or anything just so I and anyone else can have some hands on with this. Thanks -
Can we get a little more detail. How much area do they want to cover, is it just an overall shot they want to see or does anything need to be captured. I'm guessing no since you say it's going to be output on a TV and not recording. You can run a mic from inside the meeting room to the tv so audio can be heard without being muffled by 20meter travel. The camera and mic don't need to be mounted together to be heard together. Give us some more info, this should be very easy to accomplish

Motion detection software
t3chsupp0rt replied to the lemming's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What make/model DVR do you have. It should have a Motion Detect or Recording type menu. In this menu you will have a 'region' or 'mask' button so you can unselect the street and other areas you don't want to trigger recordings. -
Kind of a reason I think firmware should only be sent by the manufacturer or technical support for the manufacturer.

Newbie Frustration Help
t3chsupp0rt replied to jesuscowboy's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Your DVR should have a network menu. Find it, write down all th ports you see there, log into your router. If your not sure how to do this visit www.portforward.com find your router and follow the steps. Once your ports are forwRded to the IP of your DVR(PC) then goto www.canyouseeme.org enter in the ports one at a time they should show open, if they show open next part is easy goto www.ipchicken.com write down your IP address and try it from an outside network. Not your network, maybe connect to a neighbors wifi if possible or an aircard, Internet cafe etc. Open IE type in your IP address (from ip chicken) and should be able to log in from there forward. Let me know if you need more help or get stuck -
Motion detection software
t3chsupp0rt replied to the lemming's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hello, I'm assuming you want to cover the front door/walkway instead of the street, correct. So motion on the doorway starts recording and not cars driving by. Am I right -

Idiot Needing Help with Adding Hard Drive
t3chsupp0rt replied to DominoPublicity's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Haha Ok so I would actually leave the drive type as is. If IDE is standard on that board I would keep it so. If you have additional IDE slots on the board then I would definitely take advantage and use all HD bays. Theres usually no setup required and you get more days/weeks/months of recording. -

I'm confused your last sentence says the other racks are for sata, but you asked if it's possible to add sata. .?? If you have sata slots on your board then yes use sat a drives if not then IDE is your only option. Unless it's a PC DVR with a capture card then you can use either one (with a converter connection) -

Need advise on security of network CCTV
t3chsupp0rt replied to iantao99's topic in Computers/Networking
Hello again, while I will not recommend make/model. I can advise you to run rg59 and cat5 to all your cameras locations. You might say now you are not interested in having a camera that uses cat5 (rs485, ptz, etc.) but. I speak to people everyday that have no rs485 run and they just bought a really nice camera and I can zoom in with my iPad from and guess what now you have to run a new cable and it could have been done already to begin with. It's also very nice in case you want to hook up a microphone later on. You can use that cat5 without having to say, no mic cause I have run more cable. cat5 is soo cheap too. I think I paid my last box $30 for 500ft, so it's worth it. -
