Diginet site - remote view problem
Wachhund replied to v's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
After forwarding your ports after you get get a static ip from no-ip.com (unless you have static already) and download their updater. Most providers block port 8080 so change the port of the host program to 8081 and the original 8081 to 8082 so the network configuration will be 8081,8082,8083,8084, 8085, 8090. The machine will reboot. Do the same for the remote software, that machine will reboot. Make sure the site codes are the same and the passwords are the same. This should work, if you need help, feel free to pm me. Info for these pirate cards is not supposed to be posted in the forum, so if it is an ebay card or a cheapo card from China...pm me. -
Could you post a picture of the main program? Sounds like you may need an ActiveX control downloaded if you do not use a remote viewing program. If you are using a remote viewing software and not a web dvr applet, make sure the ports are the same as the ports in the main program. If you are using a router, you need to forward the ports to the computer so the tzo account can find the right computer and program. Good Luck.

You're going to need more power going through 3 walls than those little spy cam systems will give you. You'd be better off running cable to the cameras so you can be sure to get the video as Thomas stated and to save on the headaches of radio interference, tuning the receivers etc. In the long run, you'll save money and time. Of course that is my own humble opinion...Good Luck with your project.

Where is this farm located? Is it all flat land or hills too? Also, is there any considerable distance getween the tree rows? -
Error Running 2 Kodicom Diginet PC-DVRS in one network
Wachhund replied to febulous15's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Once you configure the network settings to be different for both machines, port forward your router for each separately. Change one machine to use ports 9001-9010 and the other 8081 - 8090. Also, the web dvr needs an Axtive X download to work properly. If you use the center program on your network, it will work just fine. -
Is anyone using Netvision Cards? We've tried them with Intel 865 Chips, Via chips......they keep freezing up. The live video works but the recording just freezes. Just looking to see if anyone has the 4008CE cards working and what configuration you are using. We were told originally that it really did not matter which board we used....oops.
-
Thanks for your reply- We use cases with two cooling fans, one on the side and one in the rear. The temperature does not seem to be the problem. The error happens with both the 4 camera and 8 camera boards even if only one card is in the system at a time. We wanted to try your 4008HC boards but since we could not rely on these, we could not rationalize the additional cost (double) since we will probably throw these cards away.

Hi- We had plenty of disk space - 300 gb with only 3 cameras working on the system. We used a Gigabyte board, Asus Board and 2 others which I can't remember. We used the Via chipset, Northbridge 865The video cards were Radeon. Originally the system worked fine but stopped recording after approximately an hour. This is unfortunate because we really like the GUI and the features.

Their site (Avermedia) says they are taking pre-orders. I guess the distributors won't have them for a while.

Hi- A client has a Kodicom 6816 but no manuals. We tried setting it up for remote viewing. It is on his network using a wrt54g linksys router and an account with DynDns.org. Both the client and site are set up the same way and the router has DNS support built in for DynDns.org but we can't get him connected from home. All we get is a box saying "Connect Fail". All ports are the same in the site and client software. Any thoughts?

Rory, look at: http://www.barsystems.com.au/ - http://www.easybar.com/bulk.html - http://www.alcoholcontrols.com/spirliqconsy.html to get an idea of what's out there.

Are you worried about getting a facial shot on the car if anything happens? If so, the lens in that camera will not do it. You would be better off with a varifocal day/night bullet camera. Speco/Provideo also has some nice stuff with varifocal lenses to 50mm with built in IR. Look at the Speco CVC-7706DNV or KT&C KPC-N600H2. Good Luck.

Nuvico has some good stuff. Their tech support is good too. Speco/Pro Video also has some good stuff. You can contact Howard "Spytown" . I believe he deals with both brands and has some decent pricing. The Nuvico domes start at about $65. Never had a problem with them.

Are you putting the system in yourself or having it installed? A quality analog system will not be much cheaper. The dim lighting conditions inside a pub means its better to spend on good cameras then "budget" stuff you could get away with at home. Plus, if its getting installed and you get a decent warranty from your installer, it's worth the price.

You should check out the posts about mace and their lack of support before plunking down money on them. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=5208 There are plenty of good cameras out there that are inexpensive but good quality such as Everfocus or American Dymanics. Everfocus has a high resolution ~520 lines. They come in dome, box and bullet types. http://www.everfocus.com/cameras.htm This should give you a good place to start looking. The ultimate decision of course depends on your own preferences. Good Luck

Securitymonster is right on the money. If you don't have a camera that will switch to black and white for the night mode, the color filter will cause problems with the pixilization and the false motion detection. You need to increase your light source or go to a b/w or true day night camera to fix this.

Support Problem with my 4-Camera GE StoreSafe
Wachhund replied to robdog's topic in General Digital Discussion
Have you tried the default 1234 or 0000, just in case the unit reset itself for some reason? -
A cctv monitor is a video display unit, so it would stand to reason that the same standards would apply to both. The same environment is needed for the proper visualization of the monitors and repetitive stress syndrome of the keyboards/mouse, neck and eyes are the same. Check out this web site - http://www.bournemouth.gov.uk/business/Environmental_Health/Health_Safety/Computer_Safety.asp Although its geared for the VDU, the same holds true for a cctv operator....this is probably going to be an ongoing debate...good luck.

This stuff is pricey and somewhat unreliable, you can take a look at this site- http://www.security-lab.com/product/face-recognition/

You can either buy a cctv card or a USB camera hub into the pc. You can also use T-connectors to split the signal to your TVs. Super Circuits (as well as many other companies) has the hub which is ok for home use. There are also some good wireless cams for the baby's room.

A couple of newbie questions - I SEARCHED BEFORE POSTING!!!
Wachhund replied to gokey's topic in General Digital Discussion
Unless you have a video editing card and the correct software, you are going to need to buy at least a USB plug for the computer and the software to view/record the images. Also, any computer that is used as a dvr should be dedicated for use as a dvr. Your best bet is a stand alone dvr or a time lapse recorder. You can get a single channel stand alone to put your multiplexor into but you cannot separate the images after they are recorded since they come in as a single signal. You can view different cameras by changing the setting on the multiplexor. Time lapse recorders - these are getting pretty cheap now since most professionals are getting away from them. -
Now I'm ready to pick my DVR for 2-4 cameras
Wachhund replied to sick of my neighbor's topic in System Design
For the kind of funds you have, you may as well go for a stand alone dvr and use a powered video splitter to hook up to your TV sets. Your old pc, depending on its age and chipset, may not be compatible with any of the better cards which will cost you as much as a 4 channel stand alone anyway. PM Rory or SecurityMonster - they both have nice stuff.... -
Is he willing to spring for poles in his lot? Besides the obvious PTZ and motion tracking stuff, for the money he's going to spend, he may as well buy an old Soviet satellite (I think you can find one cheap on Ebay) and park it overhead...just a thought...

Okay CCTV Gurus, here is a request from a residential client with a large house. He asked for 6 cameras for the exterior BUT will not accept any housings or domes. He prefers wireless, vari-focal bullet type cameras with heaters because of the fog situation he experiences near an estuary. Money is of course an issue...to a point. Although I have seen heated bullets and wireless, I have not found a heated, wireless, varifocal bullet. Do they exist? Is there possibly a compact, cylidrical housing I can get by with? Thanks...
