Thanks you, I have ordered belkin cat 5 cables; just not sure about POE injector. You've mentioned POE switch; Is this a combination of an injector and an adapter to unify the Cat 5 data in to the DVR? My Aver only has one ethernet port; I am installing three cameras using POE to keep the cabling simple. What I cant get my head arround is how to unify the data from these cat5 in to one data stream. Am I making sense? what equipment will I need? -

Rory, these are awesome pics for cameras that are non mp; I am now glad I did not jump on the mp bandwagon. if this bullet camera had an audio and black or dark green in colour I would deffo gone for it; perfect camera for semi covert monitoring sneaked under the hedge. -

Hello all, I read some where that Avermedia can provide tailored updates to make Camera's compatible with their Stand Alones. Does any one have a link or email address for them? I have searched their website - not user friendly; hardly any info about customer support.

what camera are you looking at adding. also there was an avers ip patch released in may with 42 more added mate all I want is an outdoor cheapo (that's an understatement ) camera which has a crisp clear day and night megapixel ip with audio and possibly PIR so that I can ID the thieving gits that lurk about at night time and scare the crap out of em. Camera must have poe cabling. Cant be asked with separate cabling. Oh yeah did I mention they've got to be cheapo. I only need two cameras front and back of home. where do find a list of all compatible cameras? Ps I have not even removed the Avers packaging. I 've got cheapish nano with wd 2TB caviar green from us minus the u know what Can you reccommend the cameras, for mwa it sound like vivotek Vivotek FD8361 but they aint cheap at da moment. -

I'm in Love with Vivotek FD8161
smartboy posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hello friends, I have decided all the cameras that I recently bought have to go, didnt even bother to try them out and now I am in love with Vivotek FD8161 unfortunately it is not for outdoor us I like the look of this dome; don’t like those fat round ones or them boxes. This camera has PIR sensor, I like the idea of camera having a wide coverage and is crispy clear night and day for facial and number plate recognition and has audio. Can anyone recommend one like this one for outdoors? PS camera has got to have POE not keen on separate cabling -
apart from Milstone (which are very expensive) are there any other stand alones that are compatible with all camera brand and non-branded? Is it possible to tweak stand alone so that they work with everything that you throw at them? Is it impossible, other electronic devices can be programmed so why cant stand alones?

I am a newbie to CCTV and need some advice. I have three IP Cameras one is Dedicated Micros Ice DM/CMVU-VDN and the other two IP cameras are Vivotek FD6121V. I’d like to know which standalone recorders to go for, either a Hybrid or NVR?. All I want is one that is able to accommodate 4 channel IP Cameras. Any suggestions? Are there likely to be any compatibility issues due to different brand cameras? Averdigi EH1004H Nano is appealing but I see other Hybrids like Dahua/Appollo that has HDMI. What role does HDMI play, what are the benefits, is it just a sales gimmick? Prices over here in the UK are extortionate. If I were to buy one of the above DVR from USA or Asia during holiday visit in the foreseeable future, would I encounter any problems like UK compatibility? I realise that I am asking a lot of questions, but that is because I am very new to this,…lol I have not even tried to install these cameras yet. Oh I more thing, now that I have the cameras would it be alright for me to attempt to set them up to my PC, just to check them out? Am I going to need a DVR card right? Help

yes keep your Vivotek cameras and if you go with avers you will get a free patch. you are just going to have problems with the DM camera. if you resell you may get more than you paid for it. if someone is just looking for 1 camera with built in recording and webserver U'r a star

Thanks for your reply mate, really appreciate your advice. Must agree, one got carried away with ones purchase, not so smart after all The Vivotek’s are old but when I look at the new Ip cameras they are hundreds of quids each. I thought I was getting a good bargain. I asked all the ebayers that bought same camera from this seller. They have all told me that they are happy with the product and they bought em co’s they also believed they were getting a bargain like. To be honest mate, I could resell every one of these and reckon could recover all my costs, Co’s they’re still boxed up. Should I stick with em or what? When you say that avers patch in 24 hours; do you mean avers do a tailored patch for brands not compatible with their product for free. If that is the case, they are just awesome company. I have written to them, will update here when I get a reply, for the benefit of others. tc

Hello all, I am a total virgin to CCTV Surveilance; just purchased Dedicated Micros DM/CMVU-VDN CCTV Camera http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130512483308&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I am now after a DVR; but not sure which one to go for. I have read some reviews over here and the Dahua DVR's seems to be quite popular. I like the Dahua DH-DVR0404LE-L (not sure how much it costs). I live in Lancashire, UK and there dont appear to be any retail or web based stokists/distributers for Dahua. There are a couple of distributers in India. I could try and get hold of one through my family contacts over there. I have also seen on ebay this Dedicated Micros Digital Sprite 2 DVR Model Number DS2A 6 DVD 160gb It has 6 video and a 160 Gb hard drive. I reccon it could go for about £200. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170633845167&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Which one would you reccomend? (New) Dahua or (used DM) am I getting a good deal on ebay or is it a rip off? I dont want to rush into anything, I am prepared to wait and build my CCTV system gradually, so that it does not hurt ones pocket; Christmas and new years sales are always worth waiting for.
