    Camera light sensitivity specifications

All I can say is wow! What a fantastic forum! It would have taken me months to try to locate all this information. I was wondering if I should replace some Bosch LTC0355 cameras that I have. I had seen cameras with better low light performance specs and thought that the LTC0355 might be obsolete. Maybe they are better than I thought. From what I have read here: 1. Many camera manufacturers inflate their sensitivity values. 2. Since most (reputable) manufacturers are using the same CCD sensors their cameras should have similar basic sensitivity as long as tricks aren't employed such as prolonged shutter times or reduced resolution. 3. Specs don't mean much, you can only really tell by testing the camera. Thanks!

Which Indoor Mount for Box Camera?

I just bought some used cameras that came from a bank upgrade. They had Pana-Vise and Pelco mounts. Here is the Pana-Vise link: http://www.panaviseonline.com/CCTV_Camera_Mounts_s/33.htm These are nice mounts. I'll try to find the link for the Pelco mounts. The Pelco are much larger, maybe more than what you need. Edit: Here is an example of the Pelco mount: http://www.pelco.com/sites/global/en/products/camera-solutions/range-presentation.page?c_filepath=/templatedata/Offer_Presentation/3_Range_Datasheet/data/en/shared/cameras/bs1750_cm1750_cm1750s_tb1750.xml

    KT&C Bullet Cameras

Wow, thanks, that's a lot of good information. The drainpipe idea is a good one, I could do that with the KT&C cameras as they are about the size of a large lipstick tube and they are waterproof. Maybe the CNBs are not what I need if they are not good in low light situations. I probably should stay with the KT&C cameras. I would like to change the lenses on a couple of the KPC-S190SWX. Do you just unscrew the front of the case and install the new lens? We have a lot of humidity here (Florida) and the outside camera looks foggy in the morning until it warms up due to condensation. Is there else I should do? I can't find any instructions for changing the lenses. I wish an overt camera would do the trick, but around here they pretty much laugh at cameras.

    KT&C Bullet Cameras

Thanks for the information. I might try one of the CNB cameras before I buy more KT&C. I could use the outdoor version and try to hide it somehow. The color would be nice and I'm curious to see how the performance compares under low light conditions. Thanks

    KT&C Bullet Cameras

The KT&C are better at night than some of the old box cameras I have tried and certainly better than the inexpensive cameras at the big box stores. I think you can change the lenses on the KPC-S190SWX so I may try a 6mm or 8mm lens for the sides of the house where I'm only interested in a narrow FOV. I've seen the CNB DFL-20S mentioned and am wondering if I could weatherproof them and hide them. I don't know if that would be possible and whether other lenses are available for the CNBs. I wonder how everyone feels about the CNBs now that they have used them for a while. If anyone has any other camera suggestions I would appreciate them. I have a wide range of lighting in my yard but in most cases I can position the cameras where this does not present too much of a problem for most of the day, so I think I can get away with inexpensive cameras for now. I have had problems with teenagers hanging around in my front and back yards when I am not home. My main interest is to just determine that someone is there that should not be. I don't expect to identify them with this level of camera.
  6. Hi Everyone, I'm new to this so please forgive if these questions have already been answered. 1. I need to run some siamese cable underground to 4 camera locations in my yard. The longest run will be about 150 feet. I intend to put these in pvc conduit but I've been told that I can expect some standing water inside the conduit and junction boxes. Do I need to use direct burial cable for this or will standard cable last? 2. I am planning to use KT&C KPC-S190SWX cameras hidden in some sort of enclosure (yet to be determined). How do these cameras stack up against others in their price range? I'm on a limited budget. I've tried one and it seems to do well but I'd appreciate any feedback anyone may have. Thanks

Ok, thanks, I will run conduit.
