KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) allows you to control two or more pc's through the use of one monitor keyboard and mouse, it is not designed to let you view 2 at once.

cat6 &cat5 colour code
SectorSecurity replied to krithik49's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Just remember if you go with the T-568B standard use the same on both ends of the cable. Don't use T-568B on one end and T-568A on the other. -
Thinking of buying a swann cctv package. Any good?
SectorSecurity replied to thevman2k3's topic in Security Cameras
This is because most installers are not network technicians and have a very limited understanding of networking. Overpaying for a system has nothing to do with getting a decent system that is reliable. You can over pay for the worst system going and over pay for the most high end system on the market. -
eyemax dvr 32 camera system
SectorSecurity replied to bonzep's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
But well above the the ability of your upload speed once you are off the LAN. I still think this is most likely an activeX problem. -
Setting up surveillance camera outside, do I need a sign?
SectorSecurity replied to keepsafe's topic in General Digital Discussion
As this is not a public place you are not required to. Also most signs say something like video surveillance in use, not you are being recorded. You can get signs really cheap though if you do feel like putting one up. -

90$ - american keyboard no pound sign and I am not looking up the alt code you have it nice I am paying 1300$ a year but that is at 2 mil liability, failure to perform, damage, bunch of other crap they make us take. Never thought about the warranty void part, will have to write that into mine. -

eyemax dvr 32 camera system
SectorSecurity replied to bonzep's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
I will try to address your concerns here, firstly I would assume since you can login locally over the LAN and get a blank screen, this is either a restrictive security setting in your browser, or you are missing a codec or activeX control. Check all those and see if anything is missing or being blocked. As for only being able to view on wifi from the cell app this means you do not have port forwarding set up correctly, or you are not using the correct external IP address to reach your system. Use a site like whatsmpip and get your external IP then ensure you have all the correct ports forwarded to the correct internal IP. You do not mention if your DVR is static IP or not so also check that. -
Dahua hybrid dvr/nvr power issue (self boot)
SectorSecurity replied to bluestar's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Login to the unit and look for a maintenance menu, once there look for anything related to a nightly or monthly reboot, these are often set to yes and cause the units to reboot. Usually these reboots happen with no issues, but some units don't like them and fail to restart properly. -
Hardware factory reset for DVR?
SectorSecurity replied to hawkinau's topic in General Digital Discussion
If you can't figure out a factory reset can you get it to perform a firmware upgrade? Also look inside for any jumper pins, these may allow you to reset to factory default. -
What's Your Favorite Outdoor Camera Housing for Box Cameras?
SectorSecurity replied to dvarapala's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
This sounds like a great solution for making your own game cameras, however I don't know many customers who would be willing to go for this idea, still I like it though. -
First post and it has absolutely nothing to do with CCTV, just you looking for another avenue to sell your junk.

Convert Camera to Wireless?
SectorSecurity replied to pedro's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
There are many more options available but they are usually more expensive and usually implemented for businesses that don't mind spending several hundred dollars. Usually wireless is more so done with IP cameras through the use of wireless bridges. -

I would also say get a roll of RG59 with 18/2 (shotgun Cable) and use that, the premade cables are so thin and never long enough. If you have the time and money I would say piece together a system, the biggest problem I see with most packaged systems is they include only 1 type of camera, and this camera usually does not meet the application for every spot the customer wants them located in. You should include where you are located, this often has an impact on what type of equipment is available to you. -
pic not clear in monitor near by dvr but clear view in remot
SectorSecurity replied to krithik49's topic in Computers/Networking
This is not a text message nor twitter, you are not limited to 160 characters, the forum leaves you more then enough characters to spell gud the correct way (good) If you are saying you have a bad image on the local monitor and not through CMS then this would mean the problem is with the monitor not with the cameras. Try adjusting the brightness and contrast on your monitor. Is your monitor connected through VGA, D-SUB, HDMI? Perhaps there is some interference or something. -
Convert Camera to Wireless?
SectorSecurity replied to pedro's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Phones can be on the 2.4 spectrum, however most new ones are on the 6GHz spectrum. If you have a strong enough signal it should work, however video will send much more data then voice. Yes your camera is analog, so it will work with an analog to wireless video converter. -
Install/ hold harmless agreement
SectorSecurity replied to Nola26's topic in General Digital Discussion
Holds harmless usually revolve around injuries say should your system fail and a person is injuried they hold you harmless, it usually does not cover the failure of a system to perform. For this you will want to write in some clause that says without regular system maintenance and checkups you can not be responsible for the health of the system and its components. Of course this does not stop someone from taking you to court. You should look into it, for me my insurance is only 1300 a year, and I am covering CCTV alarm and access control with failure to perform and 2 mil liability. -

Do you have line of sight between your garage and the office? This will be a big factor in whether or not it will work reliably. -

The 60FT cables will most likely be useless, I have countless amounts I get from customers, they just never go far enough and the cable ends are so large that drilling exterior walls will need 1.5 inch holes. Those bullet wall mount cameras tend to droop over time, I have found some lock-tight can help. The 4mm lens leaves you no room for adjustment, what you see is what you get. I have always found these low budget systems never live up to the hype they are given. -
Are you planning on getting a DVR or alarm system? You will need something to trigger on the alarm input and to facilitate the output when an input is tripped. You will probably need some type of controller to turn on the lights or lights that work with z-wave devices or similar. The sensor strip would be the input and the lighting control module would be wired to the output. I am sure someone can provide you more details, but that is the basic idea. I don't recommend using a DVR here, you can get a honywell vista control panel for under 100$

System Setup for Bar Cash Register (Loss Prevention)
SectorSecurity replied to BrianChicago's topic in System Design
Your post is useless without pictures, as I can tell you all day I have amazing video from a 420 TVL Camera. As for the post you received we were simply offering suggestions, and showing there is more then 1 road to your solutions. I hope you get a good frame rate over the internet to be able to count your liquor pour, I would be surprised if you are getting more then 7.5 FPS over the internet.
