Hi Kawz, you needed 4 cameras for the warehouse surveillance that will run away with central server room.In this case why don't you try for IR illuminator cameras. They are more reliable, exact pricing can be found out on internet.IR illuminator surveillance cameras are designed as well as they are available in plenty and may be cheap according to your budget.Axton one of the pioneers in this domain can provide you with exact specification and exact pricing and have variety of the range of cameras for security purpose. What do IR illuminator cameras have to do with the question he asked? Any camera can be run back to a central location. There are many widely available cheap cameras on the market, but I fail to see how this helps answer his question.

What's Your Favorite Outdoor Camera Housing for Box Cameras?
SectorSecurity replied to dvarapala's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I don't remember which brand I buy would have to look at my invoices, but I have never gotten a customer complaint with the flip open top ones, there these can be a problem is if a customer wants them mounted under an overhang or similar area, then you can run into problems with not having enough room to flip open the housing. I don't know where you are located so I dont know if you would need a heater and blower but these usually only add a couple of dollars to the price. Just make sure any housing you get is wide enough to fit the camera. -
I don't have much knowledge of the package systems available as I don't usually sell packaged systems, we custom build solutions for customers with a range of cameras and recording options. I would need to know more about the warehouse to provide product details, the last one I did that was about 10 000 SQFT I used 8 Digimerge Box Cameras with 3-12MM lens and wall mount brackets, we mounted most to steel pillars or the walls, then back to a digimerge DH250 with 4TB, power was provided by an 8 input fused 24V power supply box. Perhaps if you could upload some pictures of the warehouse I could make some better suggestions.

Looking for an outdoor rated video server
SectorSecurity replied to ssnapier's topic in System Design
Something like this would work: http://www.axis.com/products/cam_q8108r/ I believe it is IP rated, not sure to what extent. -
Yes, once you have admin access it is very easy to change the date and time settings on the DVR.
-
I think he was looking for a solution that avoided the use of a computer.
-
I would start by looking at date and time stamps and go over the logs to see who has accessed the DVR.

$9000 budget. 4 camera small retail store. Need advice.
SectorSecurity replied to makoto's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I have seen the army do this before, we have x to spend on generators, so they ran out and got all top of the line generators, spent the entire budget, to this day the generators have not been installed as no one stopped to think the budget needed to include installation. 9 grand is a lot for 4 cameras, I do agree with shockwave it can be done for way less, however if they must spend it all, I would say buy spare parts, keep extra hard drives on hand and maybe an extra camera or 2, always handy to have when things break, and if the money has to be spent I don't see the problem. -

SectorSecurity replied to makoto's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Sure I will work on it tomorrow, I will try to match the part numbers to what you need, but I cant guarantee the canadian ones will match up to the american ones. Yes I believe they should continue to record should the PC go offline, I would have to check with Axis as I have never tried. I would say try to get a 3 bay NAS and run RAID 5 but that is just me a 2 bay with mirroring or stripping will work, only problem with stripping is if you lose 1 drive you lose everything, mirroring cuts your storage capacity in half, that is why I like to use RAID 5, I lose a drive to parity bits but I can sustain losing 1 hard drive and still recover the data. If you do go with the NAS solution just make sure you get good quality hard drives. -

A few questions re the Mobotix Q24
SectorSecurity replied to ghurty's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What cameras are you happy with for restaurant/retail? This all depends at least for me it does, I don't try and sell a 1 camera fits every solution, this is why I don't even stock many cameras, I find each job has a different set of challanges, so I usually order the cameras specific for the job. Axis has their camera companion software which is free. -

SectorSecurity replied to makoto's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Why not go with axis camera's which come with the camera companion software, and get yourself a NAS running a RAID 5 array with something like 6TB which will give you redundency should a drive fail and let you get your computer too. Give you the computer which will let you view the cameras and set recordings, and give you the NAS to do the actual storage. The nice thing is camera companion is free, give axis a call they will tell you all about it. Looking over your shopping list don't forget your CAT 5e cabling, and you will need a router to handle the DHCP (Assign addresses for you) Just remember a UPS is not a long term solution during a power outage, its meant to give you 10-15 minutes maybe more depending on the size to shut down equipment gracefully so it does not crash, if you are looking to stay up for an extended period of time you will need a diesel generator and some way of failing over from the UPS to the generator. Where are you located? I may be able to provide you with a complete shopping list and part numbers if you are located in Canada. -
Camera tplink h.264 and panasonic blc160a
SectorSecurity replied to sec5's topic in Security Cameras
I have to ask the obvious question have you done any research on either camera you are asking about? Or are you simply looking for someone on this board to do the legwork for you. Can you use your computer monitor, well yes but this depends on how you plan to use it, can you directly attach the camera to your computer monitor most likely no, if its an analog camera you could look for a BNC to VGA converter which would allow you to connect directly to a computer monitor. Are the cameras any good, I am sure they are, but this question all depends on what you want to do with them, then the answer may very well be no. You have to provide some detail on the intended application of the camera. They are most likely both indoor cameras, can the be put into housing and put outside, Im sure you could find a way to make it work. Why don't they have optical zoom, well most likely because they are entry level cameras and you are asking for a more advanced feature. -
What you need is an 8 channel multiplexer. Something like this: http://www.ambery.com/8quvimupige.html Then you would connect a cable to the BNC video out with a BNC connector on one end and connect the other end to the AV video in on the TV with an RCA connector.
-
Just remember any one of those systems you buy you are going to need a roll of RG59 W/ 18-2 or what we call shotgun cable. You are also going to need BNC connectors, and power pigtails or screw terminals. You wont have any degredation issues with RG59 at 200FT assuming there is no interference near buy such as high voltage lines. Also depending on the distance you want to cover you may need more then a 4mm lens. I don't know what your warehouse environment is like or what the mounting situation is like so it is hard for me to say which system would be better for you.

Cannot configure CCTV remote viewing

Can you add to the service access control list the following Service = HTTP Access Source = Internet Action = Accept Status = enabled See if that works. -
If you have not specified DNS servers on your router and set it up accordingly you will need to change those DNS fields. Now you just need to port forward that information and then use your external IP address.

Can somebody tell me what I need to finish my CCTV?
SectorSecurity replied to hellfire127's topic in General Digital Discussion
No, that is if you are asking about the power, the power does not plug into the DVR it plugs into the provided power supply. The BNC connectors go into the DVR. -

SectorSecurity replied to hellfire127's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yes those are the screw terminal power adapters I spoke of, I also love them as they are quicker and cleaner then installing the pigtails. Just remember to only strip enough wire to seat the wire in the terminal, if you strip back to much with the screw terminals you can end up with your positive and negative touching and will cause problems. -
Cannot configure CCTV remote viewing
SectorSecurity replied to saifs1410's topic in Computers/Networking
The last picture here leads me to believe connections from the internet are being blocked by the Access Control List (ACL) try adding a rule to allow HTTP from external. Or try adding HTTPS to your hostname and see if that works. -
Power surge?
SectorSecurity replied to need2shave's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would have them check their outlets, or have them checked by a licensed electrician, if the monitor and DVR were plugged into different outlets there is a possibility one outlet is wired incorrectly and causing a fault. -

The pigtails are handy to have always keep about 15 of each on me. Don't use them so much with 24 volt cameras but they come in handy on repair jobs and 12V cams. Just remember to get RG59 BNC compression connectors, or crimp if you dont have a compression tool, if you get RG6 they are slightly bigger and will not fit correctly. -

https://www.techtoolsupply.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MAGNEPULL_LT This Magnepull claims to cut wire fishing time by 75%, havent tried it myself but I have the magnespot reference locator and I love it. Might be a good purchase if you are looking to do this on a continual basis.
