Running Cables inbetween Cavity Walls
SectorSecurity replied to smcctv's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
There are many tools which will help you accomplish this, fiberglass push rods are a great start, I would also suggest fiberglass fish tape, ball and chain, stud sensor, and inspection cam for seeing what is in the wall. You can get more fancy and start buying expensive tools with rollers and magnets, but what I have listed above should get you off to a good start, its more of a practice thing then a tool thing. Also remember to run the stud sensor up and down as well so you can check for fire stops, not a problem in commercial but you find them in residential. A pic would be a big help in offering suggestions. -
zmoda intallatiion specifically router
SectorSecurity replied to strawberryqueen's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You can do this without a router, however routers are so cheap I will spare the technical details and suggest any wireless router should do just fine, if you want to get really advanced find one that is a dual band and capable of broadcasting on both bands at the same time. However you are most likely going to connect via a wired connection in which case this wont matter and any router should do just fine. -
You are better off not buying premade cables at all, for what you spend on premade I can get a box of 1000FT security wire, and I don't have to deal with the 1" thick stupid BNC ends on the cable. I sell security wire as cheap as 10/cents a foot, you need 100FT which means you need 10$ in cable, now you need a 5$ balun pair, you are at 15, so you have tax you are still under 20$, you have a more quality cable and don't have the hassle of premade. Want to add power sure its another 3$ for power connectors.

Its not the heat in the attic that gets to me, its all the insulation, don't know why its always on the trips to the attic I never seem to have my respirator in the truck and end up wearing one of those cheap 2 strap mask.

Viewing confusion local and remote
SectorSecurity replied to casualbeta's topic in Computers/Networking
When you try to view it locally, ie with an address like 192.168.1.110 are you on the same network as the DVR and are you using the DVR's internal IP address and not the external one? -
port forwarding on three routers
SectorSecurity replied to globalbit's topic in Computers/Networking
If you have 2 setup as access points, esentially doing nothing more then allowing wireless clients to connect you shouldn't need to do anything more then port forward on your Linksys router and set the DVR to have a static IP. My AP's do nothing more then broadcast my wireless SSID and boost my signal, your Linksys is handling all the DHCP and NATTING provided you have them all on the same WLAN, (same SSID and network range) -
DVR set up for internet viewing
SectorSecurity replied to videoblues's topic in Computers/Networking
I suggest you break out the good old DDNS and setup your remote viewing through DDNS. -
Denied access to surveillance
SectorSecurity replied to rrruuunnn's topic in General Digital Discussion
The last time this happened to use the crown prosecutor came in with a court order and took our entire DVR, not just the HDD, not a copy of the footage, but the whole unit, they of course replaced the unit at no cost to us, but it goes to show if the police or the prosecutor want your surveillance they can get it. However Kawboy12R is right they are not obligated to show you the surveillance video. -
Viewing over the internet -- router problem?
SectorSecurity replied to zbd's topic in Computers/Networking
Have you forwarded the ports to the correct internal IP address? is the internal IP address static? -
I don't know who is the biggest but most of my customers are happy as long as I am providing them with a name brand product, such as sony, panisonic, pelco, digital watchdog, ect.

https://worldwidesatellites.com/waterlock-protect-your-connectorcable-p-486.html I would suggest to use these. Do your connectors have the centre pin or is it using the centre conductor from the RG6 cable to make the connection?

Could be moisture getting into the connection, if these are outside are they protected by a weatherproof housing?
-
If you have a test monitor try the camera on that, have you ruled out the fact the camera may just be dead on arrival?

Setting own logo on a DVR Splash screen
SectorSecurity replied to Tibbu's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
You would probably end up having to debug the DVR and trying to identify the file that is loaded as the splash screen and change it and still make it all work. I would say look for a different supplier. Or find someone willing to split the 5000 piece order with you. I have always stayed away from rebranding gear, huge insurance headache. -
How to connect 4 x 16 Ch DVR to an LCD TV
SectorSecurity replied to jlcctv's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
To cover the distance problem you could use an hdmi over CAT5 balun, they aren't the cheapest but would allow you to do what you want. You could also use the BNC output and run coax back to the TV and connect to the AV jacks with an RCA connector. -
I´m getting confused in finding a system
SectorSecurity replied to Werner69's topic in System Design
Your biggest problem will be your upload speed, something tells me you probably have something like 256kb upload so remotely viewing 6 cameras would most likely be very choppy. NVR and IP cameras are no more complexed and if anything probably simpler then a DVR and analog cameras. -
Digital Cable/Satellite Signal Injector/Modulator?
SectorSecurity replied to videoVIP's topic in Security Cameras
Usually when I get a client that wants this they are happy with my just inputting the output signal via an RCA cable on the AV video port, very cheap and lets them see what they want to see. -
I feel your pain just rewired an entire building because the original equipment was all DIN crap. I would say try contacting Lorex or visit their website they may or may not still sell what you need.

Yes ADI covers a wide range of things, CCTV, access, alarm, Locks, Low Voltage wiring, home media, Central Vac. Don't think they really care what you do as long as you are a business with a registered tax ID and are buying for the purpose of reselling.
-
Just remember any edited video will be useless in court.
-
Picture quality is also dependant on the camera, you can buy a 4 grand DVR and put a cheap 30$ camera on it and get a bad picture quality. If you are a registered business I would say go with ADI, if not go with Smart Vision Direct.

Login: admin Password: admin Login: user Password: 4321 Login: guest Password: 4321 That is the default login info for the Speco CMS software, can't say if it will be the same on the DVR. You may want to try removing the CMOS battery and see if it resets the unit and the password. As for the cameras the DIN stuff is a little before my time.

Could you not put Blue Iris on a regular PC and setup your NAS as a network share and just have the PC forward the video stream to the NAS for storage?
-
Wiring runs are shorter on the HD-SDI stuff, forget how much shorter, there are many manufactures making media converters which will let you run IP cams over existing Coax. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_acc/media_converters/cam_t8640/ Not sure if the cost will outweigh the benefits, this is something you will have to figure out for yourself. Depending on the difficulty of the wiring runs new CAT5 may be easier, but 25 cams can make for a lot of wiring.

Have you tried setting it to a 24/7 record to see if the freezing continues to happen, sounds like you have misconfigured a setting.
