    adt camera

Ok I'm taking over a adt system has anybody ever messed with the pin out on these. The cameras are being fed into a adt dvr with a rj11 plug. I would like to keep some of the cameras going but change out the dvr system. I know it is a 12 volts on the red and black but im not sure how they are getting video back out of the system. I would like to cut the plug at the dvr, feed power to the camera's via another power supply but change over to a bnc via a ballum. I tried to use the yellow and black but I can't seem to get the video out of it for some reason.

Type Camera's and joystick type might help. Could be anything with this post.
  4. lol i'm not a shack slammer just trying to help a guy who might not be able to get the same gadgets we get from dealers. I'll try to lay off the shack. I forget Ebay is out there sometimes.
  5. Davem is your last name Raup? sounds just like something he would say. My Tech support guy.
  6. whoa 25 db is to much. You don't won't to put in more then 10db over 1000ft then maybe 25 db you got regular f connectors on both ends before you change over you can get a 10db again at local radio shack it has a in and out f connector. 25 db right into a monitor can cause a over heat and fire. This is why Time warner tech. carries a meter to measure db levels anything over 13 db is against code after a fire were kinda wide spread back in 96 due to people getting 20 and 30 plus into there t.v.'s
  7. And on most jobs we do, we always run coax from dvr out to a security monitor with a bnc input, same cable. Your just changing the connector type in your case.
  8. no only if you tv or monitor does not have a video input
  9. Go to Radio Shack and get a F connector to Bnc Female to Male for the dvr then F connector to rca for you tv. Female to male.

    Is this even possible?

Yes camera's with out line cut can be fooled but it would take more then some around a neck. I seen a utube video where a guy had a mask and a safety vest with leds on the reflecting lines the some camera's blacked out while some were whited out from glare. It was really wild.
  11. I may be wrong but I think it has to do with the cards. Cards come in different formats or is it the readers with those cards. I know our system works on 26 bit but if we use a different readers with the bar codes on them we change to 32 bit. I will get my books out tomorrow and have a better answer for you.

As far as door I would look into the security film. Do a search for it. There might be a dealer in your area. They still might be able to get in but it will take alot of work even with a bat. As far as the deals at cosco you get what you pay for. I know some people on here can hook you up on video cards for computers I have seen some talk about one for about 300 dollars you can find on ebay. I have never seen a good camera at a retail store for sale. Look at some of the post I don't think I can suggest the one's we sell on here via the rules. But I know you can find some good deals on ebay and craigslist that a dealer may have and trying to get rid of. Really depends on the area you are trying to cover. Do you need a camera to see at night with not much light?
  13. just wanted to say hey maybe I can help and also be helped on issue's I have run into. Sometimes tech support is not as good as some one who has a little knowledge.

    camer aproblem? please help

Really not sure. i would love to see a answer to this one. Does it act the same to a diffrent light source. Like a another type of bulb?
  15. I just installed a couple of camera's for a friend that he got for his gym. As soon as I opened the box I noticed it was not really meant to be out side. But he used the same type at his other places so I put them in. I ran the cameras on cat5 with utp. They are in a mall parking lot and a dealership with super bright lights across the way. These are IR domes with 42 irs. The camera changes from color to day night but in the day night mode when cars drive by it blinds the camera. The company I work for never mess with ir camera's and when we do they are normally inside. Anybody know what I can try?

    Underpowered Cameras

Not a problem, that's why for any computers or dvr's, phone switch etc. a battery backup ups cause a brown out is normally what kills a system quicker then a surge it self.
  17. Just as easy to put in a egress lock that unlocks when you try to open the door on the exit side. Normally a 15 secound timer then the mag releases.
  18. Wow reading this and I am feeling like duh, I have never seen this before. The reader in most systems only turns during a key read. Can you try to kill the power to the reader via the access board and see if the problem is still there. If not disable via computer, if it still does it try to disable a new item each time. Like the door contact then request to exit till your left with nothing but strike. If is still does it try a diffrent strike like maybe a 1006 hes the smaller hes with strikes I have had some issues with binding and short cycling. Hope this helps

    Underpowered Cameras

well under powering something can be as bad over powering something. And sometimes I had the issue of just powering something down that has been running for a long time and then repowering something and out of no where it blows. I hate when that happens. Then you have to tell someone they have to spend more money and this kinda thing happens...

    Underpowered Cameras

I think you could have damaged them.If they were split in power in the y. Was the cameras the exact same that you replaced them with? If you could show a image of what the camera is doing it really might help. Do you have a spot monitor you can view the camera with instead of through the dvr?
  21. As far as your store I may have another cheap option for you. You a relay to your dsc security system. When you get a alarm you might have a siren that is triggered trace that wire to your panel. That Plus and neg should be putting out 12 + volts Look for a relay a pam relay or any kind that accepts 12 to 24 volts wire it with the bell to the plus minus on the relay then the output from that relay should have a normally open or normally closed output, check you dvr it is probley a normally open, alarm on close. Then when ever your alarm goes off from dcs system it will trigger a alarm event on your dvr systems you can get fancy and wire it in series to both dvrs. As far as the other issues with dvr recording look for masking options and mask out the trees and what ever you dont want to record during movement. Try clicking in the picture on setup screen and see if you can drag a mask or object. Hope this helps. And the reason for the relay is to keep you from mixing powers or sending power to the dvr contacts, You don't won't to mix powers.

issues with a ir dome camera

Sorry I had a few to many Golden wheats when i wrote this. I hate when something I put in does not work right and I can't answer why. But the camera's has 42 ir led's I guess I was not to clear. But it does have a great picture at day, but during night it's bad. The darker it is the worse the white out. Thanks for all the help, and I agree I don't believe it has a cut out for all the light it takes in. Since it does not have glass dome like a vandal proof does I don't think it will last long in the weather any way's. You get what you pay for....

Need Help On a Pelco Spectra III Camera

jpease I agree with other people on here. When the fans go in the spectra cameras its not long before either the power board dies or the drive gives out which is why you can't control it. The black screen means you may have not got it reseated good. I have been messing with these camera's awhile and I still have a fun time with some of them, and I have broken a few of the clips a couple of times. You can send the 3 off for repair but your next camera will be a spectra 4. And depending on the mount like if maybe you started with a spectra 2 then went to a 3 the 4 will not mount in the same with out some change to the power board that the camera snaps into.
