I have 8 Camera's already which are BNC type. 4 external Bullet type which are Video only and 4 internal dome types which are Video & Sound. To be honest, even running them at CIF quality, it's really not that bad. -

Hey everyone, I finally managed to get iDVR Running perfectly with remote access on a dedicated i.p. to our iPhones. However, I'm after upgrading from the 8 Channels that I have on the PCI Card to 16 Channels, so I can add on later if required. I'm looking to change from my PCI Card Based WHS running iDVR4000 to a more simpler, less power consuming solution, which the PC wasn't. Being on 24/7 it was just eating electricity. The PC was using a 500w PSU, whereas DVR's are a lot lot less. Trouble is there are so many unknown makes and maufacturers that I'm not entirely sure on which is a viable solution. I've seen Avtech, XVision, This one on eBid, plenty on ebay, Amazon and the like. But which one is a good all rounder. Ideally I'd like a minimum of 1TB (expandable), must be able to remotely view on our iPhones, VGA Output. Price range for these varies from £200 - £350 or thereabouts. Any idea's? Thanks all in advance. -
What PCI Card to choose?
BagPuss replied to BagPuss's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hmmm, What a dilema What to do, carry on with the PCI Card and just have to log in on a laptop unless I can find out how to connect via the webserver or some other means. Edit. Did a search Tom prior to this and I thought it wasn't too bad, mainly having a Dynamic I.P. didn't help and having to create a DNS, whereas I have a Static I.P. purely for this. Also from some of the problems, most people have been able to help out sorting them out. So I didn't think it was too bad. I've emailed the guy for the iDVR4000 software in china and asked him about the Web Server on Port 80 in the settings but what is the address and also increasing the size of the storage as it's limited to 999Mb per channel. Might be a few days before he gets back. He did provide the key to register the iDVR4000 so I didn't get the popup's If not I'm still in a dilema about which way to go. -

I have to admit that the card I have is pretty bloody good really, it's just the software (iDVR4000) that lets it down. 8Ch with 4 Video & Audio and 4 Video Only feeds, all run at 25fps. I had a Business Broadband line with a Static I.P. purely for the CCTV Server in order to try and make it easier to connect to remotely, but again the software is not the best even though I have the latest version. I've just emailed the developer and asked what Web Server should I be connecting to as the one in the manual just times out? I'm seriously thinking of the DVR route as it will do everything I need it to, if not more. I should be able to still use the CCTV Server build to do the back ups from the DVR...possibly. -
8 channel system? need help
BagPuss replied to september's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I'm in the same boat, i have an 8Ch Card that has 4 Internal Domes and 4 External Bullet Type, however the software really lets it down. So I'm debating whether to replace the card with some decent software or go the DVR route with massive storage (2x2Tb HD's) I've found one at Henry's CCTV which to be honest will do everything I need, so I could use the original Sever maybe to back things up with. -

That GV600 I found was around £140. Up to Eight Camera Solution Includes: PCI Card, DVD with software programs, drivers and instruction manual. Requires Windows XP or Windows 7 (Excluding Cameras) GV600-8CAM £139.95 Only other thing maybe a DVR Recorder like this one. Henrys CCTV -

Thanks, Will have a look at that later on. Defo cheaper, but not too worried on cost, well upto around £200, but it has to do the job. I take it it will allow audio through it as well? And will it run on WHS, not that its essential as i'll just format the system and start again. I'll have to see what chipset that card of mine is running. -
Hey there, Well, I'm seriously thinking of changing from the iDVR4000 Card and Software, mainly for the remote support. So having a look at the Geovision GV-600B at around £140. Anyone had good or bad experience with it, when i spoke to a retailer he said that the playback for this one wasn't brilliant as its 25fps divided by the number of cameras you have, whereas even the iDVR4000 is 25fps on each camera. So what is the remote access like for this, any good and on what platforms, PC, iPhone/iPad or Android? Or are there any other PCI Cards that you can recommend within a good price range of say upto £200? Many thanks

iPhone, iPad, Android App for iDVR4000?
BagPuss posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi, I've got the iDVR4000 PC Card based software running on Windows Home Server and I can know view the client remotely via my Static I.P. Which is great but I don't want to carry around my Laptop to view it, so does anyone know if there is an App that works on the iPhone, iPad or Android system that actually works with iDVR4000? I've tried a few but without success. Any idea's? Thanks -
DVR4000 and Hybrid Software?
BagPuss replied to BagPuss's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
After a few days of testing it out, it seems the refresh rate isn't as good as the old V2.01 version. Is seems very 'Robotic' on the Channel windows instead of nice and smooth. Its ceratinly more stable than V2.01. I'm struggling to view the files as they seem too big, although the Player didn't work in V2.01 on the Server but did on the Client. Opening up the player just seems to take an eternity while it looks at all the files for each channel, sometimes I can leave it for around an hour and its ready to look at, but then I can't view the channels to see what has been recorded? Anyone else struggling with V4.10? I don't have any other software or cards installed on this machine, it is purely for the CCTV. Cheers -
