I have a Dahua dvr and cameras already, but i need a camera out in the yard now, i need it wireless and i prob would need a solar panel to power it, any ideas? So like a wireless camera and a wireless receiver and a little solar panel. I did a little bit of search and only found wireless dvr's. Thank you!

This is a domecamera i got from empire security- Model ESC3 650 TVL 2.8-12MM varifocal lens 36 IR Sony Effio-E DSP Sony EXVIEW HAD II CCD F2.0 Lux This is a 700 TVL one from them, with 72 IR Model ESC1 2.8-12mm, same sensors as previous. These cameras are about ~90 $ each, can someone recommend better quality ones around the same price range ? Ahh.. You need that cool software they use on the CSI shows that can take an unfocused image and turn it into a properly focused one in no time flat and with any image.. Yes! Because you can totally generate those license plate numbers from the missing pixels =P It's like pulling it out of thin air. I can sharpen the image in Photoshop but still wouldn't be able to read it.

I guess analog cameras do not get much better than that as far AS quality goes. Yeah maybe i can mess with the focus a bit more. I wish i could read that license plate through the door tho.

I use the VIVOTEK FD cameras, they are excellent quality, great features and the software seems to be pretty advanced with options. If you wan't a cheap solution... well i used an old computer Blue Iris software and an eBay wireless camera... It's surprisingly works great. With wireless camera you need to have line of sight for the receiver and most don't have IR. This is like $80 total + laptop But if you can spend ~$300 on vivotek ip camera... i would go with that, they have the option to put an SD card in them and you set it to do motion record and store for only 4 days, you don't even need a dvr/laptop then.

I am looking for a cheaper decent portable lcd to test cams out and adjust them with. Any one bought any off ebay ? there are ones $50 - 300.

I need to add a mic to my system, 12v, any recommendations ? Lapel Microphone - MICPA [edit by mod-store link replaced with manufacturer link] That is the only one i found that seems to be what i need.

I have a DVR that can do 30fps @ D1... i need a camera that you can see peoples faces and recognize them.. With night vision. The cameras i have now.. it's hard to recognize peoples faces unless you know who it is... and these are 700 TVL with Sony Super HAD II CCD.

I need flashing lights to put on top or by my cameras outside to warn people. Any suggestions where i can find such things? It would be nice if they could flash only after certain time.

Ok for cheap setup do this. Get 2x Foscam Cameras (PTZ) (http://www.foscam.us) they can be bought on ebay for about 80$ each, check the foscam website for approved ebay sellers. $160 Get a battery back up plug in your modem/router and your cameras into it $70 Download Blue IRIS (torrent or you can buy it for $50 if you want to be legit or just use the software foscam gives you *FREE*) Record at home or anywhere off site, set up dyndns account in case your IP changes. Also make sure to set Static IP's on the cameras (you can have them wireless). I recommend hard wiring the cameras instead of wireless. Just hide the router like up in the ceiling.. or in a locked room or box. You could get a NAS that has FTP server built in and that way you do not need a computer.

I was wondering if there is any DVR Review websites? I am trying to pick out a nice 16 Chan DVR for no more than $1200 that has a mobile viewing option. All i was able to find was EH5216H and maybe Mace MVR-SQ160... or EverFocus ?

Those look like they can blend in as a smoke detector =). Do those plug in directly into the dvr? and a regular 12vdc power source?

So i am having a hard time finding anything out online, not much info or maybe i am looking for the wrong things. I would like to know what licensing i would need to be able to install security cameras as a service. Alarm licensing ? Low voltage ? I read somewhere that you need to either have an alarm license or you have to work for a licensed security company for 2 years and then take a test to get your own license?

So seems like people vouch for CNB brand around here, who deals them that i can trust? My second choice is monoprice bullet IR cameras.. they have some nice varifocal 2.8 - 11mm. They have good reviews on their website. I need some varifocal and some no more than 4mm. I will be using the "Qvis Apollo HD PRO 16" @ D1 to record, so i would like good quality images as possible.

Well i think we need a sticky on the forums with a poll to rate products, i spent all day researching cameras and calling dealers, it could be an easier job if we can put all the info on one page. Maybe do something like $80-$200... some products lack information and reviews. I will be down to write some stuff on what i purchase.

yeah just watched some videos on you tube and they do look pretty darn good for 90$ a pop. DVR has good specs just not sure how their software is.
