I am currently installing 70 IP cameras, a mix of Arecont 5105, 3105, 8185, and Vivotek 8185. I am currently running Luxriot, but not really liking the performance. Current NVR setup (2) Dual quad core Zenon; 8 GB , 30 GB SSD, 48 TB RAID 6 servers. The luxriot easily peaks my CPU load (30 cams), and I had to trim down frame rate, make motion detect on camera side and still at around 80 % load. I was researching and found Video Insight, seem like a good way to go. I have seen the webinar and I tried the demo on my server today using virtual pc. Have anyone had good or bad experience with them? any input would be appreciated. thanks

both machines will be just servers, but its used as a client right now for setup. I decided to remove VI for a few reasons. The main reason is the way it records it archive. The s/w will write 200mb size avi files, the problem is if for some reason there is packet loss, you loose the entire 200mb file. Thats a problem in my mind since the data is very important and a few second blip can cause 10 min file to go bye bye is not a good. Im currently have Luxriot back on and I have some remote support to help me reduce cpu load and to optimize the system. -

I have looked into Exacq, just been holding off since the license is more and with 72 cams it gets pretty high. The problem is selling it to the customer after I already quoted the Luxriot. I guess I can demo the Exacq s/w -

lets see what the webinar tomorrow brings . I found out after searching and viewing recorded video for a few hours, it would fill up the Windows 7 temp folder, and since Im only on 30 GB SSD , it got full quick. ....Im, beginning to dislike the VI S/W more and more -

Im supposed to sit in on a webinar tomorrow. Ill bringt hese issues up. Im not impressed with the side cameras because they are not as clear as I want. It seems like they get a bit blurry. I might see if I can focus them. Im using 3Ware Raid card, running RAID6. I know Im using about 15% of my Gigabit card, what would be a better way of measuring my bandwidth? -

I really like the FD8361 , good image. The new model fixed the cable length and the amount of connectors. I also use the FD8161, basically the same camera, but I wished it looked more sleek. Another thing that bothers me about this camera is the rubber part that goes around the lens to block out he IRs. Pain int the butt to put back on, I got it down now but still takes a few minutes. -

Ive been trying the Video Insight S/W for a couple days now and it seems ok but I have a few issues. -The VI software wont display an image for Arecont 3135 under H.264, only Mpeg. -The S/W gives me a error message on some of my recordings. (file is corrupt or being use by another program) I After talking tech support, they indicated the file size was larger then the maximum specified (200 MB ), but could help me until I went to the latest release. I was on the latest I thought, but apparently they just released a new version. -cant get the camera side motion detect to work for Vivotek FD8361 It boggles my mine that they are in a version 4.XX release and still have these kind of issues. here are some pics of the server server is not on the rack since the customer bent the rails. I had to order replacements. pic of the unfinished Server Room A pics of the s/w and some of the cameras not impressed with the Arecont 8185 's side cams -

I understand Luxriot can do both types of detection. I have all the Arecont cameras doing that now, but having a tough time getting the Vivotek to do it. And since Im going to have about 35 of them, its going to be a problem. I have check the Motion detection tab on the vivoteks menu, but it doesnt do anything for the Luxriot. I will update the firmware to see if it will fix the sensor bar not showing anything in the camera menu. I havent really taken note of the bandwidth since all the cameras are not installed. But it was hovering around 10-15% on a gigabit port. -

I'll post up some pics of the server tomorrow, its running a redundant 900w PS and a in a 4U server case from Supermicro. http://www.supermicro.com/products/chassis/4U/846/SC846TQ-R900.cfm this is only going to be a server, only temporarily using it as a setup client. The CPU load is still at 80% when the client is not running. The bandwidth is gigabit and according to the task manager, the load is very small so far. also can anyone confirm is Vivotek 8361/8161 cameras have 'camera side motion detection'. According to the Luxriot support I get from my distributor, it doesnt ... -

thanks. from the reviews here, I am looking into Exacq VMS also. Any thoughts on which one would be a better choice (price, features)? -
I guessing you are using IE8 as the browser? if so then you will goto internet options, security, custom level, then ENABLE "download unsigned ActiveX control". I understand you frustration with eyemax tech support. I have the same experience with them
-
I would suggest you look into IP cameras for the client.

what city are you in? another good idea is to small jobs on your own to gain experince

you should be ok at 50 ft. just harder to get a connector on a stranded core wire

Control PTZ over RG59 Cable!?
themerchant replied to SEANHAWG's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
not sure about your camera, but Pelco made something similar called 'coaxitron' which require special translators -
Currently installing a bunch of Arecont 5110 and already have a very hot camera. they tell me to update the firmware, but im pretty sure is a bad camera. Also have a few 8185 in the mix and the device no longer shows up even in the installer. they tell me to unplug it from the switch, well the switch is in a IDF 25 feet up.

Help connecting to my CCTVs

+1 on Soundy's advice also the PC is running a NVR program, whatever the internet port for the software, is the port you forward. -
hello and welcome
-
hello and welcome. IP and NVR will cost more than analog, but if you budget is higher then its a much cleaner picture.
-
glad it all worked out! " title="Applause" /> like the other said, sell them a regulated PS with individual fused outputs. tell them you are saving them money in the long run.

Advice needed :: Installation in the Ship Yard (overseas)
themerchant replied to ryeporta's topic in System Design
the resolution depends on your customers needs and how much they want to spend. you can use analog PTZ or IP PTZ over rg59 (they make a rg59 to twisted pair converter). I would stay away from wireless due to the setup and maintenance issues (interference, antennas, line of sight, nature). You need to see the site first before you can bid correctly. Again, as for materials you will need to go onsite, see what you need, how much you need. while you are there, maybe someone there can show you a local supplier.
