    Geovision 1480 and geo fisheye

Yup, it works fine. I did something almost exactly like that for a small print shop near me. Has has 4 analog cameras and a Geo-fisheye. I think the only limitation was no audio on the IP camera thru the web interface. I could be wrong on that, it has been a while.
  2. I am pretty sure they just use the straight IP address with nothing else required (unless you have a custom port).

    Hello

    Welcome
  4. I never order 24AWG CAT-6, it just doesn't make any sense to me.
  5. I have not used any Hik IP cameras, but I know you can do that on Mobotix cameras directly. It would seem to me like this is a logical thing to have as an option.
  6. Those two piece connectors are only really required if you are going to be using gigabit or higher speeds. they help to keep spacing consistent and reduce crosstalk between the pairs (a big deal when at the upper limits of the wire's spec) and in some cases if you have to certify the run it may fail without those in place. CAT-5 is a gauge thinner and the connectors for Cat-5 have a physically smaller slot for each pin, so putting CAT-6 in one of those connectors is sometimes very, very difficult (and never recommended). My office uses the Platinum Tools EZ connector line, they work very well. Since the guides are built in they are much faster to terminate and you have the added advantage of double checking your color code before crimping it since the wires stick out. They do require a specific crimper, but it is very high quality and can be used with any other type of connector. Here is a link to the connectors in question: http://www.platinumtools.com/products/100010.php

    HDD Storage Deterioration

There are much larger DVR's available from companies like Bosch, Pelco, Panasonic, and Vicon or if you went into the IP camera world you can get recording devices as big as you can afford.

    Be gentle, please!

You need to either get 4 IP cameras or change out that card for an 8 camera card.
  9. I was introduced to these guys today, and while there website is lacking in spit and polish they seem to be using some VERY sophisticated software and hardware to clean up cameras images. http://www.phelps2020.com/Solutions.html

    Cabling for Residential Cameras

Here is a short article that should help clear it up: http://www.cablinginstall.com/articles/print/volume-7/issue-6/crosstalk-feedback/ask-donna/requirements-for-plenum-and-riser-rated-cable.html

    Poor Mans LPR

You might also try using a polarizing filter on that lens just to cut down the chances of glare.

    Cabling for Residential Cameras

Plenum cable is only used in areas where air exchange or circulation takes place, which is most commonly the space above a drop ceiling. These areas are generally wide open and have little or no fire breaks. Since residential construction does not use these some methods of building, plenum cable is not required for 99% of residential work. I have heard of people asking for it, simply because they wanted it, but as far as the code goes... not required.

    Hello

Welcome, what type of system are you working with?
  14. Your internet going out has zero affect on your internal network.
  15. Check out Wavestore, but I am pretty sure that Milestone supports both as well.

    flir dvr vs avtech dvr

Are they pretty close to equal price wise? Have you seen the quality of work that each company produces? Does one of them offer better after sale support than the other? Which one offers more training? Are they both using cameras with the same specs? Honestly, neither is a bad option which is why I would use other things (like those above) as discriminators.

    hikvision ddns setup!

What did you set up on your home network to provide this data to the DDNS provider? Are the ports forwarded in your router? Is the DVR set to update the DDNS or is your router doing that?
  20. Yup, I use the following NTP addresses and I have not seen a new IP camera or DVR that would not accept these addresses: 0.pool.ntp.org 1.pool.ntp.org 2.pool.ntp.org 3.pool.ntp.org
  21. If the DVR has an FTP option you could setup a NAS at the remote location and tell the DVR to send data via FTP to that NAS. That is probably a bit cheaper than two DVR's, but make sure that the location with the DVR has a FAST and pretty reliable internet connection with the largest upload speed option available.

    CCTV ROUTER NETWORKING PROBLEM

what brand is this thing (modem)? what IP is the DVR? what IP do you have on your machine when on the modem? what IP do you have on your machine when on the other two routers?
  23. That sale must have been quite short, it is back to full price now.

    Email setup

No, and why would you want to? The SMTP server asks for those separately, so what would be gained there?

    my ISP has Private IP

I think you may have misunderstood them. They probably have you on a dynamic IP. The answer is to get a dynamic DNS (DDNS) provider. When you type in a website name (like yahoo.com or google.com) the DNS is what tells your computer the IP address tied to that. In this case, the DDNS has an updater, usually either on your DVR or built into your router that tells the DNS server what your current IP address is. As for port forwarding, here is a graphic I drew that should help explain how it works.
