ssnapier replied to mark_kinesense's topic in General Digital Discussion
You want to shoot multiple lasers are people driving cars? No way in the world that gets past the safety nazi. -

The problem with the S14 at 40 feet is that you are not going to get a ton of detail with that hemispheric lens. If all you need is a good solid over view, that could be a good call. Is it a well lit area? -

That is too broad of a question, there are many different frequencies and methods of doing radar. I actually do not know if it would go thru glass, but I don't think it would work in the way you are expecting. -

I really just pulled 6 out of thin air, but this is to adjust for the constantly changing lighting conditions. You would need at least an IR cut, polarizing, gradient (maybe 2 or 3) and a general neutral density (tinted) filter. I almost suggested thermal instead, but then I remembered that thermals don't work thru glass. -

I think they have 25 or so people here, but a lot of them are the traveling sales reps. As fort the question about the development team, I will find out and report back... LOL -

It would also have to have at least 6 different filters on board and the intelligence (or a full time person making adjustments) to change the filters and adjust the focus, exposure, shutter speed, etc.... nightmare. -

I stand corrected... I am currently sitting in the Mobotix HQ in Manhattan and I was just told they ARE working on thermals with a target date of mid-late 2013. It is currently only being worked on for the S14 though. -

When I spoke to the engineers at the IPC in Germany this year, I told them that I could REALLY use a thermal sensor on these cameras and I was specifically told that this was "on the list" but not for the current generation... which means to me at least 2 years out. -

Any assistance is appreciated with Dahua & Qnap equipment
ssnapier replied to shamooni's topic in General Digital Discussion
The QNAP surveillance station is not that good, and they have been a little slow to develop camera support so I would not count on that happening anytime soon. Have you posted on the QNAP support forums to ask about that? I don't recall there being a way to record generic RTSP, but I could certainly be wrong since I don't follow it very closely. -
Are you having trouble with it? The instructions are pretty good and the whole thing is pretty simple to use, what's wrong?

Unless there is a ton of movement, 6fps is plenty. I would go with the larger image.

They changed the number of twists per inch on each pair to reduce crosstalk and increase bandwidth from 100Mhz to 350Mhz. Usually the jacket on 5e is thicker too, but that has a lot more to do with buying quality cable than any real spec change.

Camera system for HOV (car pool lanes) monitoring?
ssnapier replied to mark_kinesense's topic in General Digital Discussion
This would be a VERY tall order. Think about all of the factors at play! You would need to solve all of the following: glare on the glass speed of the car intelligence to figure out if objects are actually people sunrise and sunset rain, snow, fog... I simply don't see how a camera, even with the best filters, would be able to accomplish this with any kind of accuracy. Now, if you were to have a live person watching these cameras with the ability to constantly change exposure and other settings, then you might have a slightly better chance. -
I have it's big brother (the Dual i50) and it is a VERY good camera! Just make sure you pressurize it with 5 psi of nitrogen before use.

This thing is gently used and does have a few very minor cosmetic blemishes on it but it works like a champ. If you need one of these, this is your lucky day. There is nothing fancy about it, but it will get the job done. I am asking $225 plus shipping (probably around $12). Here is what I am selling (this is not my actual device):

For Trade - Mobotix D12 Smoked Dome For Clear Dome
ssnapier replied to Peter_'s topic in Classifieds
I have a bunch of leftover domes, I can send you two clear ones if you need them. How does $15 each sound? -
I actually have quite a few of these and they really need to go away. If you want 5 or 10 of them, I can make that happen too and I will reduce the price for buying a big group of them. This is a fantastic camera, I just have no need for all of these right now. Please make them go away! The lens modules are mostly D43's (8mm) and D65's (12mm), which is good for a lot of uses but I have a few night sensors too if you need them. These are all brand new in the box, but some of the lenses have been opened.

It could be... can you either post a picture of it or post the model number?

Total Newbie - Need 16 Outdoor Camera Setup under $5,000
ssnapier replied to marcosffa's topic in General Digital Discussion
LMAO! Ok... a normal 24 port POE smart switch (unmanaged) costs in the $350 - $600 range and is fully 802.3af complaint. There are very few cameras out there that would require POE+ (or 802.3at) and if you are trying to stay on budget just avoid those and move on. -

Remote Viewing and Recording on Pelco CCTV System
ssnapier replied to ianmatari's topic in Computers/Networking
I am not super familiar with Pelco gear, but there is normally a way to transfer all of your stuff via FTP. Perhaps you could setup a NAS with a built in FTP server and have that do what you are looking for.
