  1. The two parts I highlighted are a mismatch, pick one or the other and that should fix it. I would personally not use either of those because they are so common, but make them match and you should be good to go. Feel free to PM me a link if you want it tested from outside your network.
  2. You need to use a dynamic DNS (also known as DDNS) account so that the rest of the world knows the path to your DVR. The IP addresses you are looking at (all of the 192.168.*.* stuff) are private IP's issued by your router and they are internal to the network... period. Go here to determine what your public IP address is: http://www.whatsmyip.org/ You then need to set up a DDNS account. Go to http://www.dyndns.org and get an account. Let's say you picked an address like this: "myfirstdvr.dyndns.org" You would then tie that address to your public IP address and add the port you chose in the DVR (we will use 3526 in this example), so it would look like this: myfirstdvr.dyndns.org:3526 The good news is that your DVR has a DDNS client built in, so it will take care of updating the public IP for you if it ever changes. You simply need to get the account, and then plug in those details (username password, domain name) to the DDNS client on your DVR. Also MAKE SURE you get rid of the default password since you posted it on the internet! One last thing to do... actually two. I would hard code the IP of your DVR, it will make the next step easier. Login in to your router and tell it that you are allowing port 3526 (or whatever you choose) to be forwarded to the IP address of the DVR. If you have trouble finding the place to do the port forwarding, check out http://www.portforward.com for some help.

    VMS for mobotix

Sorry to bring up an older topic, but you do have the option to monitor live audio and not record it. I am not sure if that gets you around the legalities, but Mobotix cameras do have that option.
  5. I have existing run of RG-6 in place and a rather long run of it (about 950 feet). The camera using that coax is being replaced with an IP camera. Can a balun be used in reverse so I can avoid pulling out all of the RG-6? If not, what device will give me that capability? Also, I am assuming it is not possible to send POE over that kind of distance but if I am wrong tell me!

    Thunderstorm and Lightning

You could always put lightning traps on each channel, but the key to any sort of protection system is a good (tested and verified) ground. Here is what the lightning trap looks like, they typically cost between $15 and $40 depending on size:
  8. EDIT: Hard drive is now included for the price listed in the title. I have a brand new Nuuo NVR (NV-2040) that needs a new home. It shipped to me with no power supply, but I am going to price this thing to move because I am just tired of looking at it. The power supply it needs it a 12VDC 5 amp unit. They typically cost between $15 and $25, but I will leave that choice up to you. I am asking $650 for this unit, and that includes shipping. This will include an Seagate Barrcuda LP 2TB hard drive (also new) This is model #ST32000542AS (5900 RPM 32 MB 3.5" drive) and is a very robust drive that will work quite well for you. I prefer PayPal and will ship (ground) by whatever means your prefer. Photos are all stock photos found on Google images, and again power supply is missing, but very easy to source.

IP cams over distances of 10km

This is something that my company does on a daily basis. We have IP cameras broadcasting at that distance right now. There are tons of ways to make it happen, but budget is a very large consideration.
  10. As the title says, is there any way to add a camera to CM3000 if it is not running thru a DVR/ NVR?

    I need a software recommendation

I have a need to replace Mobotix Control Center at a grocery store, due to massive instability, and Geovision stuff seems to make sense. Here are the details on what is in place: I have two 42 inch monitors for viewing these cameras. There are 47 Mobotix cameras and 13 Sony PTZ (all of which are on your compatible list) in this system. They are currently being recorded to 4 QNAP NAS devices (Atom powered TS-459's). Each NAS is currently running RAID-10, with four 2TB drives in each one. I have two rack mounted computers in the system (win 7 pro 64 bit) each with 4 gigs of RAM available to drive it all. The computer are i5's on an Intel DH55TC main board. One of them is using on-board video and the other has a dedicated video card with 1GB of DDR3. They both have a 500 GB hard drive as well. Please make a recommendation on what software you would suggest to run/ record/ playback all of these using my existing equipment. If there is additional equipment required, those recommendations are welcome too!

    I need a software recommendation

You really didn't read this at all did you? These are all IP cameras.

    I need a software recommendation

The instability is directly attributed to the Mobotix software, I have proven it on at least 5 other computers with varying levels of horsepower. The program is just not up to the task. I was shown the Aver CM3000 software today and I am in the process of installing that on my test platform right now. Perhaps this needs to be moved out of the Geovision forum since it has taken a left turn?
  14. No one needs a decent 4 channel NVR?
  15. Any idea what video management software this is?
  16. Excellent, I had a Netvision guy PM me to confirm that as well, thanks fellas!
  17. Any other thoughts? I know they are using primarly Pelco cameras, but I also know that their vehicular systems are using HIKvision, so who knows! I guess that means I don't really know a whole lot.
  18. I got a call from the local American Legion about a camera issue and when I got there I discovered a dead monitor, but this is not taking coax, it is taking some old CAT-3 UTP with an RJ-11 telephone connector on it. This thing is every bit of 30 years old and it is just a single camera on a door and a monitor at the bar. They asked me to find the absolute cheapest solution to replace either the monitor or the camera and monitor together. They said they would very much like to stay under $200 if it was possible. I am not charging them any labor, but I need to find a simple cheap solution for this. There is no DVR on this thing, it is purely to see who is at the door and buzz them in if needed. Any suggestions?

A monitor with an RJ-11 connector????

This is the plan... I did not even want to mess around with the old camera and they seemed quite happy to be rid of it.
  20. Why you gotta dis us southerners like that LMAO!! " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> I had a British guy suggest "TVT", but I have no idea what he was referring to.
  21. This is a system that was apparently developed by the Memphis, TN police department. I am sitting here looking at a bid for a project that involves some of that gear. Just curious to know what type of wireless stuff they (skycop) are using. We have several things that we typically use, but if they don't play nice together that could be a big problem!

Thanks to all... and I have sent a PM to SEANHAWG
