  1. Ok, I have a NAS that appears to have valid images stored on it, and in the appropriate folders. When I go to the camera in MxCC and give it a specific date all it will give me it today... or sometimes yesterday. This is a new problem that has developed long after the system was working perfectly. The NAS is not full... not even close... and the camera is setup to record 15 days of images and I have verified the recording path. To make it just a bit more weird, if I log into the camera directly (either an M12 or Q24) I can see the events listed in the event list, but MxCC still refuses to play nice. Any ideas?

3vr? ever hear of these guys

I am actively pursuing them now, and I have seen their equipment first hand. It is very impressive gear and the engineers I spoke with seemed to really know what the heck they are doing. I am looking at possibly deploying one (actually as many as three) of the ServerClass systems at an Army base, but it will be a few weeks before i get all the bugs worked out. I will report back after I have a bit more detail.

    Video Analytics Solution

I am pretty sure 3vr (3VR.com) offers a software solution. I saw some of their hardware based stuff at the APCO conference and it was mighty dang impressive.
  4. Yes it worked great, I have done that to all of my cameras now. The best part is that even if the camera were to go down, you could still playback the images because the camera is totally out of the playback loop.
  5. I have used several of them and it is a great camera for that purpose. The first few I used had an issue where the lens was not fully seated so the picture was all kinds of fuzzy, but once we fixed that they worked great.
  6. I am looking for a PTZ camera that will be mounted in an outdoor dome. It needs to be powered off of POE, and it also needs to have a fairly high zoom (greater than 10x optical). Here is the trick... I need it to cost me $1000 or less, and I will be buying several of them. Actually, initially I will only be buying two, but in a few months I will be buying at least 20 if not more. I would ideally like to find something that plays nice with Mobotix control center, but I am not opposed to using different software as long as I can having motion based recording and playback all in one package. Of course the moboti stuff records direct to a NAS, so if you solution can also do that (even if it requires an extra piece of software instead of new hardware) that would be even better.
  7. Seriously? I have NS-202A's in my shop right now that I power with POE and they go 350 degrees around. I have also used the HCM581A, which is also POE and pretty dang tough. My only issue with those is the inability of the Mobotix control center... or more specifically the MX Server application to record the stream for playback. The 202 can be found in several places for under $1000 USD, and the 581 is about $800. Let's forget abotu the price point for a second. Is there any POE powered PTZ camera on the market today that will record direct to a NAS device without an NVR?
  8. I knew it was a long shot, but I know there are Panasonic cameras that meet these needs. The problem is that Panasonic stuff doesn't play nice with Mobotix control center, you can view all day long but recording and playback is another story. My boss is stuck on MxCC because it is free, but I really think we need another software solution that will allow us to use the fantastic cameras that Panasonic offers. Sony makes some good PTZ's in this price range too, but they are not powered by POE which is a must for me. I don't have enough space (or plugs) to deal with additional power supplies, which is why I am seeking a POE powered camera.
  9. That still does not answer my question though. What I am asking is will the camera delete the files regardless of where they are being recorded, or will it only delete files if I use an on board SD card? I already knew that the QNAP would not do it on it's own, and I have put scripts in place on my non-Mobotix NAS to make sure files get deleted. What I need to know is if I have a QNAP NAS recording ONLY Mobotix cameras will the camera software still manage the files based on the number of days I tell it to record or will I need a script on those devices as well? Each camera is currently set to record for 15 days, but since I am 4 hours from the site I cannot check on it very easily. I am just trying to find out if I need to install a deletion script on the NAS or if the cameras will continue to manage their own files (which are now remoted to the NAS).
  10. I have a fancy Rvision dual i50 camera running thru an Axis 241Q 4 channel video server. My problem is that i can only view one of the two cameras at a time. Does anyone know how to set this thing up so I can view both my color and my thermal camera at the same time in something other than the Axis software? My boss wants me to try and use Mobotix control center (which I sort of hate) and MxServer, so if you can help me figure that out I will owe you several beers. If you have any other ideas on how to make this work, I would love to hear those too!
  11. Roy FYI that camera is north of 30K http://www.handbooklive.com/product/334/ I want to say we paid around 25k but yeah it is not cheap by any stretch.
  12. This is an analog, thermal/ color, PTZ camera and I am using it with a 4 channel Axis video server in order to display the cameras in Mobotix Control Center. The issue I am having is that I cannot figure out a way to make both cameras show up at the same time. I can make one or the other come up but not both together. Is this a limitation of the camera or am I just dorking something up here?
  13. Oh I am not questioning the quality of the camera itself it is a friggin' tank! I am just trying to figure out how to make both things work at once. We are in touch with Rvision, I was just throwing it out there to see if anyone had done this before.
  14. There are zero BNC connectors ont he camera, everything is sent out via a DB-15 connector and then it is fed to everything else using this weird little breakout cable. The breakout cable has two BNC's, one is labeled "Video" and the other is "Vid2/ Audio" which makes me think that I can view both video outputs at once. I am going to poke around in the camera settings and see if it is just a software swicth that I missed. The bottom line is that this is simply NOT a user friendly camera, but I am kind of stuck with it at the moment since the customer wants this and only this camera.
  15. Just looking for key dates to plan for now so that I might be able to attend a few of the larger trade shows and possibly expand my horizons in terms of what is available and how I can best use it. Is there anything coming up in the late summer or fall time frame or is it all going to be next year? I deal with a lot of Federal clients too so anything related to that would be quite helpful as well.
  16. I am preparing to install Mobotix cameras all over a large medical research facility (about 80 of them). I have also been asked to look at possibly bringing all of their analog cameras into the same software suite that will display the Mobotix stuff. I know that they are using cameras that don't play nice with MX Control Center (the Mobotix software) and I am just too new to "the game" to know if such a thing exists. I know they have Pelco, Panasonic, Speco, Bosch and probably a few other brands that will surprise me later. Some of these are PTZ too and they want to have software PTZ control as wel. I am sure they are going to ask for everything under the sun, so the most capable solution you can think of is what I am looking for. I am sure there will be a cost limit, but right now let's just say that cost is not an issue so nothing gets excluded. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
  17. Yes, Mobotix offers a program called MxServer but it does not support all of these brands of cameras and since the last update for that was in 2008, I would prefer a more supportable solution.
  18. Is this a LPR version of the M12? Also do you get plates at night? No it is a plain jane M12 and yes... perfectly
  19. I currently have a Mobotix M12 setup as an LPR at a grocery store. It has the "big" lenses installed and we set both of them to view an area roughly 40 feet from the camera. It took a few tries to get the brightness, contrast, and focus all set correctly but it wasn't too bad. After we got the camera aimed correctly, I set the motion detection to capture several still images and made a bunch of small motion zones on either side of the road in the most likely direction of travel. We then drove a few types of cars thru the area to make sure it would work well and it works like a champ. I am headed down to that site later this week and could save the settings from that camera if you wanted to go in that direction.

    Hi there, I'm Scott

Just popping in to say hello. I am now a full time employee at a company that does all kinds of surveillance type stuff both fixed and mobile. This company primarily uses Mobotix gear so most of my questions will be focused on those cameras. I am going to have a TON of questions for you guys since my primary background is radio stuff. I look forward to learning from all of your and your shared experience.
