How useful is cctv for residential use?

I've also gotten a little fancy with my ptz for my front door. Every little bit helps. And when the ptz swings around on you at the front door you know it and it is a deterrent! Qe8PGnCSdp4 XKPEKyX6Qe4

Damn, that's a new one on me! Hidden ir? Heh. I'm gonna ask the guy if he's interested and what he'd be willing to spend.
  4. What's the footage of the cable runs, being realistic because that matters. Warehouses can involve long cable runs.

How useful is cctv for residential use?

I think a lot of people here would say it's more than just security, it's an interest to the point of being a fun hobby with benefits. If you want out, yank it all down. Sell it and get some money back. Put something small in place if it suits you. One thing's for sure, if you have nothing installed you have zero chance. And call me superstitious, but the minute you take something down, something happens and you wish you had it in place.

That one looks cool. If you ever have one with ir let me know. I have a client that might go for it.

    Q-See Bandwidth usage

So you monitor the system 24/7 via the Internet? Still though, just a four camera analog system! Seems weird. Maybe they just caught up to you on port 80. You can try using another port, such as 89. And make sure you're monitoring the sub stream of each camera.
  9. The IR cut filter is likely stuck or broken on that camera.

Please Help or Give Advice for 64 IP Camera System

Well I'm not pushing my own products, just suggesting what can be readily bought to a member. Prices are no secrets. But I'll let you sell your software and computer...continue.

Please Help or Give Advice for 64 IP Camera System

How's the quality of the coax they have in place? Would 2mp be acceptable instead of 3mp? If so, maybe HD-SCI could be an option. Four 16 channel units, 2mp cameras, running over their coax. uG7nbrXJfKg

    Too much light for night

Let's see an image of what it looks like. You'll probably need a second camera. It's usually a common mistake to try and have a single camera cover too much area. A second camera, something like a 9-22m varifocal could be a good choice to monitor your truck out at the curb. If a bullet camera is okay, something like this might work http://www.gadspot.com/p-467-gs7005.aspx

  15. How old is the ups? They can be great and some can suck. I've gone through three over the years and the one I have now has behaved the best. The batteries die of course and can be replaced, but sometimes the ups is overall just troublesome. Take it out of line for a while and see what happens.

    Need advice

By powering locally you mean powering at the camera? In that case it would be fine. But don't extend the cheap cable they give you with a second 60' cable. That could degrade the picture. You want continous runs, not extensions. The cheap cables come in 150' lengths so maybe that would be enough. The best thing you can do for a new install is make your own cables with good coax. And you can power a camera at that length, back at the other end of the cable. But you'd get some voltage drop, especially if the camera has IR. So you'd probably be better off using a 12v 2a or maybe a 12v 3a, assuming the cameras aren't dual voltage which I'm sure the qsee cameras aren't. But at those longer runs, if you're powering the camera at the camera, it's not a concern.

Outdoor Pan/Tilt camera with with alarm inputs?

Cool! Good luck and post how you like it.
  18. What one are you choosing? From what you say you want out of a system, the ESDV-NVRX-8P looks like a good fit for you.

Outdoor Pan/Tilt camera with with alarm inputs?

I do believe that has a microphone on that pigtail as well. That's actually a pretty sweet looking camera. But as I said, anything like that is a gamble. The shipping is free but plan on waiting up to three to four weeks for it. Unless the seller says otherwise, it's coming to you the slow route. You'll have to hope it works fully and as you need it to for your situation or else you be stuck with it. Shipping back for a return/replacement is much too costly. The software and the quality of it is an unknown. The picture quality both day and night is an unknown. How much technical support you'll get to set up the whole thing as you need it is an unknown. It is a gamble. Bet as much as you can afford to lose. It's a potentially great deal for a decent looking camera. But it's also a potential loser too. Now here's a gadspot I found as well. This camera doesn't have the alarm/relay inputs. What it has going for it is at least they're in the states. It comes with a free 32g card as well. They have online tech support at gadspot.com. But it may or may not be a good camera, who knows. And again, who knows about the control software or how easy it is to network. I've bought from them before without issue, but just analog cameras. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gadspot-Outdoor-HD720P-PnP-Wireless-IP-Camera-WiFi-Security-Night-Vision-SD-Card-/161161832433?pt=US_Security_Cameras&hash=item2585fe67f1 Here's the camera direct from them with some manuals http://www.gadspot.com/p-478-gs-w3102.aspx Good luck.

Outdoor Pan/Tilt camera with with alarm inputs?

A quick search on ebay brought up this camera. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-WiFi-720P-HD-Outdoor-Dome-IP-Network-Camera-PTZ-P2P-IRCut-Pan-Tilt-Zoom-/191070684613?pt=US_Security_Cameras&hash=item2c7cb345c5 For 147 bucks I'd take a shot, what the heck. Could be a winner. My Hong Kong ptz camera is in it's third year kicking ass. It's a gamble, but I'd roll the dice if I needed something like this camera. Good luck.

    Remote viewing Qsee QT software

With phone software you usually leave off the :81, so just use your myqsee address in the address field. In the port field use 1723. When you're away from home and in an IE browser on a computer, then use the myqsee address with :81 and you'll hit the cameras.
  24. It's easier to manually trigger a siren through a Dvr or nvr, I believe. If you're going to do it via a camera itself, it might be more clumsy to do it trying to camera hop to get to the camera the siren is hooked up to. I did a video on a Dvr and in it I cover siren triggering. The same would apply to a dahua nvr too. Maybe it will interest you. EYRGLlBj8Go

    New CCTV System

If it's moisture condensing on the inside of the dome, you can actually see it when you look at the dome while it's happening. If it is condensation, avoid opening the dome until you have a low humidity day. You can try putting in a silica pack to absorb moisture, clean the inside dome and lens, and then make sure you put the dome cover back on correctly to make a proper seal. It could be a bad seal which will create an ongoing problem. But if you don't see obvious moisture in the dome while the picture is bad, then it's IR reflections and not much to do and given the cameras are new, either try replacements or exchange for something else. IR in bubble domes is always a gamble.
