    I finally pulled the trigger

Nice! Looks great. You'll also want to walk around out there and see how your video looks with movement, day and night. Motion blur should be not tolerated at all. Tolerate a little noise at night, not motion blur. I'd also like to see you in a shot in the IR hot spot with smart IR on to see if that's working yet. I've heard it doesn't do anything as of yet. Really glad you're getting your system in place!
  2. So I have dahua IPC-HDBW3202 and I have a cctv mic hooked up to it. I also have the dahua 4 channel NRV and perviously to this camera, I had the same mic hooked up to the audio in on the nvr and the audio was clear and good. But now I have that same mic hooked up this camera and the audio quality has dropped to kinda muffled and distorted when voices get loud. This camera only has a wire terminal on it- no rca jack. So I bought from radio shack a premade speaker wire with an rca jack on one end, bare on the other. I plugged the mic into the rca jack and wired the other end to the camera. I had a buzz in the line, so I put a buzz eliminator in line and that took care of that. But the audio sucks. I'm thinking it's because I'm using this speaker wire with the rac jack on it- unshielded it perhaps is introducing the buzz. And then with the buzz eliminator in line, it's probably not doing anything good for the audio beyond eliminating the buzz. I'm gonna try redoing this tomorrow and start from scratch, by installing a bnc balun with the proper rca to bnc adapter on the mic end, and then use cat 5 wire over to the camera and see if the audio cleans up and sounds better. The only other thing I might try is switching out the mic for one that has a gain adjustment on it, to avoid distorting when loud conversation is too close. Any other suggestions about where I've gone wrong with this, or a better hookup?

    Audio camera problems

I didn't cut the wire because I wanted to leave placement options for the client if he wanted to move it. And you will need to power the mic somehow. The radio shack wire is the one I used. Good luck!

    Audio camera problems

I ended up using a mic with again control on it. Got it from ebay- not expensive. The frequency response of the mic is better for conversation- less boomy. Also the gain control on the mic itself really helped to dial in the right volume. It worked so well that I didn't need to change the wire out.
  5. Enjoy your camera! You have plenty of available light to do well even in the dark. Hope all your viewing is great and problem free.
  6. I have picture as well. But I don't see the ptz controls. But, yep- picture!
  7. You have to forward 37777 as well.
  8. I get into the interface but get a message- main connection failed. You've forwarded the TCP port have you? Pic is too small.
  9. Yeah I can see you feed and log in, but can't see picture.

    I finally pulled the trigger

Awesome! Great for you! Hope all goes well. Keep us posted.
  11. LOL- Nope. Just as well, swamped with my other two jobs this month! I bet your calendar is full though!

PTZ cam not tilting up all the way?

Not sure but if you don't have a ton of presets, redo them. Hope it works out!
  13. Probably boring I know, but it is a good time to size up what you're getting from your system with so many different people coming and going. I also have audio going with the front door channel as well. The mic is on the second floor in a back bedroom and you'd swear it was right there. This cheap little mic is awesome. Analog still rockin it! Although next year I think I'll redo with MP. We'll see. 4nebfc3apBQ And this is my haunt. I'm actually over the top now- people fear it. I'm losing trick or treaters! PTZ cam not tilting up all the way?

Edit- I thought you were talking about a different camera. Sorry. The camera probably restarted for some reason and reverted back. Try moving it to where you like again. Make sure there is no reboot schedule you might have engaged. This solution can work, but I would recommend you learn how much you move the camera from a preset position. This way you adjust it the same exact way every time you need to, and that will help all of your presets remain as you position them initially with the camera tilted up a bit.
  15. Why would you need to use pss? Just hit the cameras own interface. I think you're gonna like the camera. Good luck. Oh btw- if you get snow coverage at that house for a good part of the winter, that may provide enough light reflection to get a decent low light picture. Snow can help wake an otherwise dark picture up a bit. Just a little bonus- go snow!
  16. Quick answer is, only invest in a dvr that truly gives D1 30fps recording on each channel, period. Don't buy anything less at this point. My now retired qsee 408 did D1 30fps on the first two channels only. So, I had to balance out all 8 channels. I ended up at 24fps on the first two channels and the rest had a mix of frame rates from 10-17 at HD1. My more important cameras had the higher frame rates. Even though high frame rates aren't crucial, don't spend the money on a dvr with limitations these days. D1 30fps recording on all channels only. Then you can dial down if you care to. My 2 cents anyway.
  17. At that price, why not just replace it with an hd-sdi camera??
  18. And that can be had for the mere price of....over 2k! Looks good though. What happens at 30mp or so- the image breaks up too much?
  19. Info menu, then version menu. Just be dang sure you have the right file for your nvr. Good luck.
  20. Yeah, I believe that's the camera. I've also bought smaller stuff from them and they have always been fine. But personally, I wouldn't want to have my cameras black out all night- I'd want IR. If you have the ability, you could consider a couple of these and aim each one for what you need- http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-3MP-IP-Camera-High-resolution-HD-video-Low-illumination-IP66-IR-Range-90ft-/261206336361?pt=US_Security_Cameras&hash=item3cd11c6369#ht_1965wt_777

Using "Extra Stream" for Play Back

In the advanced menu in recording, you have to enable the extra stream to record along with the main stream. Extra stream recording is off by default. Set it to schedule so it follows what you set up for your recording schedule. Then just choose extra stream in playback mode and you'll have an easier time playing back files. If you need to backup something critical, use the main stream files at that point.

    Wall display MAtrix from Dahua

Do this- Create separate nine window tasks. To do this, open your first nine cameras only. Then go into scheme task config and make a new task called first nine. Make sure you choose 9 windows under the window field. Stream type whatever you want- main or extra. Leave all the other options as is. Click OK. Then add a new task called next nine with the same settings. Click OK. Do this as many times as you need for your windows configurations. Make sure all the task names save and show in the task name list, click ok and close that menu. Click ok again to save and close out completely. Next, right click on a camera window and choose 'add all windows to task' and in that sub menu, choose the 'first nine'. Then, close those nine cameras and open up the next nine. Right click on a window and choose 'add all windows to task' and in that sub menu choose 'next nine'. And so on, adding each nine windows to the different task names you created. Then go back into scheme task config, and go into the monitor project tab. Click new. Name the project whatever you wish, such as 32 channel tour. For mode, choose tour mode. In the task name, choose the first nine. Interval time whatever you want. Unfortunately it's only in intervals of minutes, so the shortest is one minute holds. If you want longer, choose a longer time such as 5, which is 5 minutes, etc. Then add it. Do the same, choosing your task names in succession and adding them to the project item window. Once done, click OK. Then click OK to exit out. Now, back in your main screen close all cameras. Then on the bottom click on task icon. You should see your task named '32 channel tour' as in my example. Click on that to start the tour. To end the tour, uncheck it. There ya go! Good luck.
  23. It has two way audio In/Out. Spec sheet is wrong I believe. That's a dahua. Where are you getting the 5232-8P. Don't see that anywhere- tough unit to find. Not sure about that one as far as the WAN port. But most of these dahua units only supply 4 poe no matter how many channels they are, in which case to fill out the rest of the channels you need a switch and then within the nvr 'remote device' section you grab the camera address on the network and pull it in. There's also PSS software that will open up any dahua camera you point it to. I think most will tell you that's the preferred way and the biggest reason why they don't prefer an nvr with poe at all. But I could have sworn you were looking for one with full poe, which is convenient of course. I'll be doing that for home use. And since you can hit the cameras web interface even within the nvr with a little hijinks, for home use it's accetable to me.
  24. I think you kind of boxed yourself in a bit as far as the 1k budget. The only good deals you're gonna find is costco Swann/Lorex/Qsee. Those nvr's will give you the 8 built in POE and cameras, close to your budget. But personally I'm not sold on the quality of those packages. Also personally, I prefer dahua and that would either be an OEM from some vendors, including qsee. I like their GUI in the NVR's, and I like the web service app and PSS software. I also think the nvr itself is more full featured, with alarm in/out and ptz. But if you're gonna piece it together, you have these choices for nvr's http://wrightwoodsurveillance.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67&products_id=306 And this one which I think I would get before the others http://www.securitycameraking.com/32-channel-elite-mini-nvr-59239-prd1.html But unless you have some good drives already, you'll have to drop a decent size drive in these things- at the very least 3tb but preferably larger. So your budget can be eaten up on the nvr alone. Then there's the cameras, and I would suggest to make it easier, you get the cameras that match the nvr. Mix and match camera brands with different nvr's is not advised. Dahua nvr with dahua cameras, or hikvison nvr with hik cameras. Bump up your starter budget to 1,500 and you can have a start with an nvr and a couple cameras.
  25. People HAVE to learn how to take a digital snapshot in their systems and stop posting a picture of the monitor. Not only doesn't it help to diagnose a problem, but authorities wouldn't accept that kind of picture either. Gotta learn. Please post a proper snapshot.
