On the analog side, I've been flying this one up on a pole for over a year and it's been through a super storm and a blizzard so far. This beast rocks. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/sd6923e36e70-h-480.html

These days analog is skimping. But you can get usable results if you do it right. This is probably the best deal you're gonna get at just a hundred bucks more than your budget- http://www.amazon.com/Q-See-QT5680-8E4-1-Security-Surveillance-High-Resolution/dp/B00DWFFC94/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386050873&sr=8-2&keywords=qsee+8+channel+dvr If you place those cameras wisely you will do well. You have 8 of them so you should have plenty to work with. Good luck!

Pat, I would recommend you get an 8 channel dvr if you choose an analog system. Always plan on needing more channels than you think. This is a decent one to get you started- http://www.amazon.com/Q-See-QT5680-1-8-Channel-Full-Surveillance/dp/B00BWX2OU8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386042817&sr=8-1&keywords=qsee+8+channel+dvr I would also recommend that you buy varifocal cameras to help you dial in just the right shots. You could start with 4 cameras and add more as funds allow. But it's always worth the extra cost of varifocal cameras when the best field of view is an unknown. The added flexibilty of a varifocal is worth it. Here is a decent varifocal- http://www.gadspot.com/p-463-gs6008.aspx I would think a 4-9mm will help you dial in just the right shots. You should give yourself a bigger budget than 500 bucks for sure. Good luck.

Oh I know the IR on these is excellent. The dahua I have at work is amazing. Do they have it hooked up to an nvr there? An auto pan is gonna take up oodles of hard drive- hope it's a huge one! Anyway, looks great! -

The 485 line would have to go into either a ptz controller or an NVR, so there's another question of compatibility and that may require using their controller and they are available by the ton on ebay, cheap. Sometimes they even include them in the auction with the camera. The pictures for the camera in your link have changed, so it's tough to know what does what now- another odd thing. -

If you can't get an answer to every question you have to your complete satisfaction from your seller and/or inesun directly, avoid the purchase. Do not ask them the questions and offer an answer as to what you think it is. Otherwise they'll just yes you. Make THEM answer your questions. If they can't, avoid the purchase. That's the best advice I can give you. Good luck. -

I have an inesun analog ptz. I cover it extensively in my vids in my signature link. Of course it's not an IP camera, but it is very much like the one you're looking at as far as the camera itself. I like my inesun for sure. But I would caution you about purchasing the camera you're considering. Understand that if you're here in the states, if it needs service you're screwed. No way it's worth sending it back at a cost of at least 100 bucks. So right there, you'd be much better getting a camera from a vendor here in the states, such as a dahua ptz. More costly, but SO much more worth it. The other thing about inesun ptz's is they tend to use cheap cameras that don't support every menu item listed. Just because there is a menu item doesn't mean it will actually tweak the camera. The CAMERA has to support everything- not always the case. The best feature of the camera is the way the IR is handled- very well done. As far as their IP cameras, I have to agree that it might be tough to get it into a hardware nvr but I wouldn't know for sure. You might be stuck using only their web software and who knows how good that is. All things considered, I'd advise you to avoid the risk of purchase. The sellers of these cameras on ebay are very nice and attentive to get the sale, but afterwards you can't really count on them for technical support. I never got an answer directly to any question from inesun ever. The sellers aren't much help either. I took a chance on mine because I had 500 bucks to gamble on a ptz that I actually DO like, but it's a straight forward analog ptz. No way I'd risk bigger bucks on an IP camera from overseas through ebay. Shop around- get one from a local vendor in the states who carries and supports their cameras. Like I said, dahua is one to shop for. They are excellent ptz's. Good luck. -

How did you get it up that high? Ladder up on that building? You don't have wings do ya I love dahua ptz's man. I love ptz's period. I should have just installed four on each corner of my house and that would have been fine with me! -

If you take out everything but one camera and it still does it when viewing on the monitor attached to the nvr, there's a problem with the nvr. It'll need servicing or be replaced. -

Have you restarted the nvr? Sometimes it can clear out quirks. -

I'm actually confused a bit. Where do you see it choppy? On the monitor attached to the nvr? In PSS software? In the web service for the nvr? The phone app? And which phone app are you using? -

You have to invest in some time reading here. There is a TON of info for all of them. Read and read some more. -
Chrome ain't all it's cracked up to be. And one thing that seems to be universal with chrome is that if you have a camera web service open and you're monitoring cameras, and then you have other tabs open too, you get window 'bleed' from the cameras in your other tabs. It's happened on a number of computers when using chrome. For that reason alone, I don't actually prefer using it. And actaully, the CMS softrware that usually accompanies the dvr is better than web apps anyway.

Why would anyone go with an analog camera system these days?
shockwave199 replied to ak_camguy's topic in General Digital Discussion
I think it would be impossible to find an installer that wouldn't charge more money for an MP system, given the same amount of camera channels the customer wants. I want to meet the installer that charges the same price for an 8 channel MP system as they would analog. You can't always say less cameras are needed with MP because of resolution either. Sometimes you actually need X amount of cameras. So I think this thread actually IS best served to DIY'ers, where installation cost isn't a consideration, and cost per piece is not inflated. And as far as price, you can find 8 channel systems at costco at excellent prices now. Grab one and do the install yourself. But it will cost more money than an 8 channel analog package for sure. Is it worth it? I'd say yes. But you always have to keep in mind that these are the very same companies that have been selling the analog gear, and all of the less than good things about them can still apply even when you buy their MP wares. Difficult customer service. Slow process of replacements. Hit and miss quality control of the gear. Companies that got blasted when it was all analog don't necessarily get a pass just because they're selling MP systems now. So I think it still comes down to saying yes- MP over analog. But packaged systems will cost you more and they are still just that- budget minded packaged systems where risk still applies. Like analog, personally I'd still prefer to buy my NVR and cameras separately and not from big box stores. Something like an 8 channel Qsee NVR/camera package at 1,500 is very tempting- a great deal. But when two of the cameras go to crap in a month or IR's start blinking out on a camera or two, it's STILL Qsee you'll have to deal with to make it right. That's where the deal and the support can part ways. As always, IMO it still...depends -

Need D1 camera with outstanding night visibility
shockwave199 replied to JohnSmtihh2's topic in Security Cameras
So you bought the cameras separately? This is a decent special over at gadspot. The cameras are usually 55 bucks and I'm sure they would be fine. http://www.gadspot.com/p-537-november-promotion-buy-4-of-the-gs6003-get-7500-off.aspx They also got some 800tvl arrays in too and I might be tempted to try a couple of the funky bullet ones because I'm quite sure they have a superb night time image as well, with the IR arrays. http://www.gadspot.com/c-89-800tvl-cameras.aspx Whatever you choose, just make sure the camera is TDN with IR cut and if you need, a varifocal such as 4-9mm or 2.8-12mm. Something around there will help you dial in a perfect field of view if you need something more than fixed field of view from a typical 3.6 or 4mm. I haven't used the above cameras but I do have five gadspots- eyeball domes and bullets and they are still doing great after almost three years. In simple terms, these cameras will work with your DVR. Keep your recording rate high- D1 @ 30fps for the best quality recordings. I think you'll be pleased with what you see. Good luck. -
Sometimes complexity makes what should be easy things...complex. What DVR do you have? What is the max size recording block it can handle? You currently have it set to ten minute blocks. You can probably set it to at least sixty minutes to reduce the number of separate files per day, which at sixty minutes would obviously be 24 files per channel per day. Maybe the block could be larger as well. But you're talking about playback- usually a straightforward easy thing to do. That's why I ask what dvr you have. And hopefully you have continuous+motion or just motion recording enabled so while you review footage, you're going right to motion events. But I have to wonder why you must look through every second of recorded footage weekly and/or monthly. No matter how slick playback and archiving is, reviewing THAT much footage on a regular basis is beyond tedious. I sure wouldn't want to do it.

ESC-IPC1: Mobile App?
shockwave199 replied to NotSoSimple's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The free pro app is definitely the better one of all the Meye's. Make sure your sub stream is set to a reasonable stream. For the NVR system I used it with, if I can remember correctly I had sub stream set to D1, 15fps @ 798- I think. That can actually still be a bit high for streaming on the phone app. You might even try CIF at 5fps @ 128 or similar. Maybe try a gdmss for andriod or idmss for iphone app and see if that'll work- an even better free app. All else fails, sometimes the phone needs a reboot to clear things up too. -
