Dahua based IP cam problem

All else fails, I'd swap it out anyway just to check. -
Dahua based IP cam problem

You also haven't mentioned anything about the how long a cable you have the camera on, and if you've swapped that out to see if that is the problem. -
Dahua based IP cam problem
shockwave199 replied to Zohan's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Try a 12v power supply and go straight to the router to see if the poe switch is the problem. I had one dahua camera act weird a while back- a different camera, but still. What solved the issue is, every stream but sub stream, I made the same- particularly the motion stream and main stream staying matched. I'm not even sure if that function of the motion stream being adjustable upwards actually works even now. But sub stream I keep at D1 CBR 15fps @ 896. That's a little high even for sub stream but it's only a 4 camera system, so remote pc and phone app is fine. But try only one thing at a time so you know what worked. I would see if the switch is bad first. Also, you linked to the 2mp. You say you have the 1.3? Btw- suffolk county myself too. -
Hi Andy. When it comes to doing this with an nvr or analog dvr, it can be done no problem. With a typically tight space such as a front door, analog can actually be enough for detail that is just fine. Here's a couple shots of my front door with analog- the camera being well placed And yes, recorded proof Santa does exist- So depending, analog could work and be cheaper as far as picture. For audio, there is this rig to consider. An NVR would be great, but a more expensive option. REJgL0b8SRc

That's plan B when your wife won't allow a ptz camera to be attached anywhere on the house. Christmas decorations year round though- no problem.

Costco $899 Swann or $1299 Qsee 1080p system
shockwave199 replied to 2020's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Not clear what the OP needs. 'Around the house and in a garage' isn't enough. The qsee ptz seems good, but you'll need to use it in an area with plenty of light. It has no IR. For another 300 bucks added to the mix, I'd probably go with this one- http://www.costco.com/.product.100069855.html?cm_sp=RichRelevance-_-itempageVerticalRight-_-CategorySiloedViewCP&cm_vc=itempageVerticalRight|CategorySiloedViewCP -
Dahua NVR 3208 recording rate
shockwave199 replied to Anderino's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I record mine with four 1080 cameras, all set at CBR 4096 15fps and it is plenty great. Doesn't answer your specific question though. I just never had a need to go any higher to see. -
NVR with built in POE switch vs. NAS and POE Switch?
shockwave199 replied to ctbaker's topic in System Design
Actually it spun off of a thread I made about hitting cameras on an nvr with a laptop connected to the nvr. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=35962 This can be done with dahua cameras/nvr, so I'm not sure you can do this with hikvision. Worth a try. There's a video explaining it too- 31ch1PYQ0C8 -
My example of focus shifting (Vari-Focal heat issues)
shockwave199 replied to thmaxxer's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm not really sure you're taking advantage of the vari focal to begin with. That looks like about what you'd get out of a fixed 3.6. I'd first adjust your fov tighter. Perhaps the top of the frame showing no more than the opposite side curb. Lose the neighbors house entirely. That will give you more of the driveway closest to your garage as well, which you don't have at the moment and should. You're probably gonna say you want some of those woods on the left because morons walk through there, so it's a hot spot. In which case, compromise between left/right view. Consider that the most useful information will be when they actually get to your driveway and the street. Anything more, especially at night, will probably yield very little useful video. So I'd probably favor nudging the camera to the right a bit as well. That'll actually give you a useful tighter shot- something a 3.6 wouldn't do, so take advantage of the tight shot, not the wide shot. You want wide, don't bother with a vari focal. This may not help your focus shift, but it's a good place to start and it might eliminate the issue by just doing that. -
2 Cameras, no NVR, remote viewing, ddns issues
shockwave199 replied to bucket772's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I know a separate nvr hardware box has limitations of it's own as far as max mega pixel and/or fps, but I still favor an nvr- a poe nvr. -

ONVIF PTZ For Baby Monitor
shockwave199 replied to texag09's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The only reason you'd want audio in the camera is to record it, because 2 way audio in an nvr doesn't get recorded- it's just for 2 way communication which is what you're looking for anyway. So don't spend a fortune on a camera that includes audio if all you want is two way audio without recording it- your nvr already has that capability built in. As for the setup, this vid may be helpful. You need a cctv microphone in the nursery, plus a speaker. REJgL0b8SRc -

You also need to enable DDNS in your router and input your no-ip host name and password, as your router will act as the updater for no-ip. -

I don't really know these cameras so take it with a grain, but usually If you have port 80 to forward in the cameras, I think you need to change the 80 port for the second camera. So if one camera has port 80 forwarded, the other needs to have 83, or 85, or 89 for example. Then as suggested above with needing only one no-ip address, you type that address in your browser to hit the 80 camera, and then :85 [or whatever you set the second camera to] added to the end of your one, same no ip address to hit the other camera. The no-ip is pointing to your gateway- your home. Typing : xx to the end of it points to certain sticks of furniture in your home- your cameras being those sticks of furniture. Not sure about the 8000 port. It could have everything to do with that port. Like I said, don't know these cameras. -
ONVIF PTZ For Baby Monitor
shockwave199 replied to texag09's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just put in a couple MP cameras with IR in them to cover the whole room. Rely on your two way audio in the nvr, rather than a camera. With 1080 and e-zooming with MP cameras, I can't imagine why you'd want an actual ptz. -
Has IP gotten cheap enough to replace budget analog?
shockwave199 replied to hubjeep's topic in General Digital Discussion
Has IP gotten cheap enough to replace budget analog? In a word, no. But that will never be apples to apples. IP/MP systems will be more money- always. But what you're really asking is, are budget IP systems as cheap as budget analog. All the DIY'rs can really afford, and all they're really looking at is more budget garbage for a good deal more money with the promise of better resolution. And you do get that. Of course it's better resolution. But that is only one thing in the puzzle of putting a good system together and installing it well. Better resolution has been marketed well to ignorant. Of course it doesn't account for the other stuff that needs to be right, to actually be effective in a critical moment. It's really all about tilting the odds in your favor for that one, single, perfect frame to help ID someone. Higher resolution will tilt those odds, maybe, depending. Is it worth going to a budget IP system over analog today, even though it's gonna cost you more, at a fraction of the flexibility of analog system? I give it a yes, marginally. For better resolution, absolutely. For everything else, marginally, to no. Budget MP cameras are making strides, but it needs more time to be hammered out. Years more time. In the mean time, analog can still keep you covered, offer way more flexibility, and be much cheaper. IF it's installed well. But then, that goes for any system- even higher resolution ones. Huh, another positive ID with analog And another And another And another Either choice can work...depending. -

I had the same thing. Didn't want to put holes in my siding. I mean, I paid a lot of money for it. Wasn't too eager to take it's virginity. But, after the first hole you get over it. The first hole is always the toughest- after that it's easy. -
New Swann dome at costco
shockwave199 replied to zikronix's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you're talking about a wire block on the camera, you can use this with any cctv mic that is rca and it works fine. You'll still need to power the mic, but this will serve as the audio connection from the mic to the camera- http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102959 In fact if memory serves, cctv mics have a male connector so you'll also need a gender adapter to connect the two- cheap and simple. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102696 -
its not a secret read spec. there both 16. its your link. its only for the lite not a 32 and no POE but for that price having a NVR that you can connect most make of ip camera would be a much better buy. why pay that and be restricted Recording Speed 1080p@240fps / 720p at 480fps / D1*960fps Resolution 3 Megapixel(2048x1536) / 2 Megapixel(1920x1080) / 1080p(1920x1080) / 720p(1280x720) / D1(704x576/704x480) Drive Capacity 2 SATA Video Inputs 16CH Total Ethernet Ports 1 Video Outputs VGA / HDMI / BNC Audio Inputs NO Audio Outputs NO Internal DVD Burner Support NO Smart Phone Access/Push Notification Yes Motion Activated Recording Yes PTZ Control Yes Simultaneous Remote Users 20 The non poe http://www.securitycameraking.com/32-channel-elite-mini-network-59238-prd1.html The poe version http://www.securitycameraking.com/32-channel-elite-mini-nvr-59239-prd1.html Yes, 2mp at 32 channels is 7.5fps. For 32 channels, still respectable. For 16, it's 15fps, perfectly fine. It does have audio in/out for two way audio. Recordable audio needs an audio MP camera, of course. The no audio spec is a misprint. The 16 channel video inputs is a misprint. It's a 32 channel unit with or without 8 poe built in and of course has limitations. Still though, nice unit to me and if you're a residential install that needs room to grow beyond 16 channels it's a worthy consideration for an nvr box.

Tom, please do not keep a secret. If you know why this 32 channel unit is only a 16 channel, let us know why. More than one vendor has this unit in stock. yFq8AsbdUTA

Looking for wide angle IP camera with audio for streaming

I use this one and it's been excellent for picture and audio- http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hdbw32003202-220.html -
Do not get hung up on frame rate. 15fps is actually quite good on the high end and 10fps is fine. You do not need and in my opinion should not use 30fps recording for high def. It's simply not needed. If you must, 15fps looks just about like fluid real time motion. The one I linked to above is a good unit. You should consider it. The dahua GUI is excellent, and that 32 channel has plenty of room for expansion.
