  1. I believe it's an 8 channel nvr system. Keep your eyes open, it'll show up again sometime. But you seem to be looking for 4 channels, max.

    3 fugitives storm our parkinglot

Actually, camera three confirms that try as they may, police never could catch the filthy pig suspects. They're still out there somewhere...on the loose. And that thought is frightening. zcBzk-FtZcI

    2mp IP ptz over wifi

You should have taken some tutorial pics for the custom mount job. They do have this mount For this camera- Is the ptz bigger than that one?

    2mp IP ptz over wifi

WOW- fantastic picture from that camera! I figured it was probably parking. I have family in forest hills- parking sucks. We should hook up sometime when I'm out that way. Unless something new is out when I get my HD system in place, I'll probably put this beat in line for my front yard. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/sd698282a-hn-33.html I use the 700tvl analog one at work and it is just a great camera. I actually love my analog ptz that I have on the front of my house now, but that'll have to be swapped out for MP. I have nowhere near that kind of light out front, so I need the IR for sure. Anyway, awesome install you did there and the camera kicks ass!

    2mp IP ptz over wifi

That worked out really sweet man! What camera is that? Should see well at night right? Plenty of lights. I'm confused who needs to monitor that area and why, or was this just kinda for fun and to see if it would work?
  6. If you drop the fps to 15, you'll go even further. Something to consider.
  7. If you want to make it simple and get to recording and monitoring your property, consider just jumping in the game with a simple, effective high def system such as this one- http://www.costco.com/Q-See-4-Channel-HD-Digital-NVR-with-1TB-Hard-Drive-and-4-HD-720p-IP-Cameras.product.100003211.html You can upgrade the hard drive to a bigger one. The cameras will give you good resolution. Simple and easy. Costco has a Swann nvr system that everyone raves about here, but it's out of stock at the moment. This q-see package would probably do very well for you. Often times it's just best to keep it simple and get going. Good luck to you.

    POE - Which Switch?

Thanks for that info. Much appreciated.

    POE - Which Switch?

Is the 16 port Zyxel fan loud? I know loud is in the ears of the beholder, but I've read the fan is loud.
  10. Cool. I keep my extra stream at D1 15fps CBR 896. That's all high for the extra stream but this client watches his system on the pc mostly and he prefers second stream as he keeps all cameras open. So I wanted to give him a good looking second stream as well. It opens up quad screen on his and my phone fine, so no issues. Even D1 with mp cameras is better than analog D1, maybe because they are progressive scan. I think those bullets you installed have awesome IR spread. That's like, the best I've seen in bullets, or even domes for that matter. Is that intelligent IR? Have any shots with people in that IR field? I would probably spring for the 2mp bullet, myself.
  11. Oh I know and it's really amazing. I use the digital zoom all the time. Analog could never keep up with that. I did some pic examples as well with that, about half way down the page viewtopic.php?f=19&t=36256&start=30 But what do you have those 1.3's set at? Actual size pics? I just want to see what you can truly get out of that bullet. I always set at high res but I never go for more than 15fps, personally.
  12. It's funny because often enough I look at my analog setup and I think- do I need to upgrade that badly? All day long I get great recordings and ID shots where I need them and I have my awesome ptz out front. Clearly mega pixel is superior, but when you have your analog setup hummin along nicely, it becomes less clear whether you need to futz at all!
  13. The IR on that is actually pretty decent. At least there's no bleed or reflections, and it's a nice spread. I know analog is worse- L! I'd also like to see actual size pics. These are stretched larger? That will surely affect quality. Unless actual size of the 1.3 will help things, I'm not sure I could go lower than 2mp. I'm actually glad you're posting the 1.3 shots. There's not much on those dahuas to compare. But this large expanse at 1080p is clearly better. It might just be my bottom line for my home install when it happens.
  14. What are those cameras set on reslotion wise? Is 1.3 really that close to analog? Does 2mp make that much of a difference? I was thinking of going with some 1.3 cameras in a couple spots but not if it's that much of a sacrifice. Unless these cameras are set on lower res or something?
  15. Far as I can tell, nowhere. Most re-branders have jumped right to the 32 channel units now. For some reason, it went from 4 channels to 16 channels and now, 32 channels. The 8 channel, with and without POE, has been passed over for some reason. Eight channels is arguably the most popular system for residential needs. It mystifies me why the dahua has not shown up here [yet?]. Why would I want to switch to a swann or lorex? Not interested. I know the 32 channel is far superior and the P version has 8 poe in it, but it's still overkill. There must be plenty of people like me who only need 2mp max out of their cameras, and who would find the dahua 8 channel with or with poe a perfect fit.

    Is this a camera issue?

I don't believe you mentioned how many cameras you need for your system. That will matter, as the cost for an nvr with mp camera system will be higher.
  17. Yes, unlikely. Just keep dhcp off now and you should be good. That's what no-ip is there for, to avoid paying for a static address at your residence.
  18. I have some ball domes from them and they work well. I don't have this one, but a GS6008 would probably do well wherever you put it. Reasonable, and it's a varifocal so you can dial in just the right filed of view. I'm guessing you're from the states, so you'd choose the NTSC type, not PAL.
  19. Good for you that you're moving it. Your dvr will be much happier. You can go 100' no problem. Just get one cable length for each run- don't add on to the 60' cables to make the distance. One run, no extensions. And since you're talking about premade cables, consider this place for them. I only suggest it because the cables you're using are cheap to begin with. No sense overpaying for cheap cables. Unless you can find better prices, maybe this could help save some money- http://www.gadspot.com/p-38-bncpower-cut.aspx Btw- no worries turning off the dvr either. Because you disabled dhcp, that address will remain static in the dvr and when you move it and turn it back on, you'll see that address remains. Good luck!
  20. I've had a recent firmware update for the dahua 2mp mini domes- as little as a month ago. There were others for other cameras as well but I don't own them. The place where I bought them from alerted me and will continue to do so- passing on the FW file. With my albeit limited buying experience of rebranded dauha, it seems it depends on who you buy it from as far as after purchase support.

    From a supplier installer's view

You left out the picture. Hope all keeps going well.
  22. How many cameras do you have in line? If just six, when you have a 3x3 up, have you tried moving the sixth camera to a different window such as the 7th or 8th window and then going to 1x5/1x7? The window is saying no resource- such as an empty channel. Maybe try a window shuffle and see if the bug is something like a sequential window lineup when using 1x's.
  23. You shouldn't have placed the dvr in a hot attic. And I know you're gonna say you can't move it now, everything is wired in. But I'm telling you- the extreme heat and cold will do it in before long- most likely the heat. As much as it's not good to make extensions to camera cables, I'd favor doing that just to get your dvr out of the attic. If it's possible to run the cables from the attic to a room below, do it. It's either have a slight signal quality drop which you probably won't notice, or just kiss your dvr goodbye as the heat does it in. Good luck.
  24. As long as dhcp is now unchecked, that address will be static and you should be fine. Good luck! Btw- hopefully your attic is climate controlled. The dvr will not like temperature extremes and will fail prematurely.
