  1. When you enable DHCP in the dvr to get an IP assigned in it from the router, after you confirm you have the address you must then disable DHCP in the dvr and save, to keep that address static. Then it won't change anymore. You may have to re-input that new static dvr address into your router again as well. Hopefully that will do it for you.

    Is this a camera issue?

You can't do print screens as an example of what doesn't look right. You need to do a jpeg or bmp capture/export, or whatever your cctv software calls it, from the archived footage. Otherwise all we see is worse than you're asking about.

    Is this a camera issue?

My guess is it's a really crappy dvr. But if you're using crappy cameras too, it's not helping. Looks like a camera focusing issue too. And in the end, that's a wide shot and it's analog. So yeah, that's about what you're gonna get. Even the best case scenario with that wide fov, it'll only get a bit sharper. Btw- how's this second photo taken? Cause your first picture is better.
  4. Good for...you. But there's a whole market out here that wouldn't mind having them available for consideration too. Hopefully where I typically buy from will get some in too. I don't know that there's much to check out, except maybe what the limitations of the unit are above 2MP.
  5. The OP started this thread back in May. I don't think this unit, most especially the P version, will ever show up. It seems resellers have jumped right to the 32 channel. And there is an poe version of that one as well [8 poe] but who knows who will carry what. I do not understand why the 8 channel was passed up. The only one that seemed to surface was the hik 8 channel with 8 poe. But that unit is completely lacking with no alarm in/outs. I'm just not sure why dahua users are getting screwed if they simply want an 8 channel unit, and most especially, a P version.
  6. I'm actually hoping the P versions make it this way soon too.

    New System help

Typical bullet camera with IR in it, which is actually decent IR for the most part. This shot is in a warehouse with the lights off. How useful is that? Almost not at all. You either need more serious IR than would be in single cameras, or you need to keep at least a few overheads on, such as this same warehouse from the same camera- I agree, more info about your warehouse is needed. And I also agree, the opinions expressed above about IR cameras being somehow superior is...nonsense.

    POE - Which Switch?

Do most switches have fans as well? That could also be a consideration.
  11. I would not count on it working. Buy it from a place that will except no hassle returns. That's the only thing you can do. Far as I can tell, ONIF means almost nothing. You have to try your specific cameras and just see if it fully works.

swann and PTZ control, not working

Can you get into the OSD menu in the camera? If so, your 485 is the right way around. If not, try reversing the 485 and also re-seat the wire in the 485 hookups on the back of the dvr. As long as you are absolutely certain everything matches in the camera and dvr settings, than it's the 485. Either try switching the wire around, try a new wire completely, and try re-seating it in the dvr connection block. Also make sure you're powering the camera properly, taking into account the distance you have it from the power supply.

ATLANTIS DVR - setup email notificatio

It's usually best to use the settings for the email account for your internet service provider. If you don't have an email account for your internet service provider, create one. You can try this though. For your user name, leave off btinternet.com. Just use arvinder.rai Leave all else the same. Good luck!

Thinking of buying a swann cctv package. Any good?

Was that an analog system or an IP system? It is interesting how the swanns of the analog world were looked down upon but in the IP market it's like people forgot it's still...swann. And the units sell out so quickly at costco that there must be a rush on to get the next batch in, which makes you wonder just how good QC can be under the circumstances. So if you're asking is swann any good I couldn't say. I don't have their gear. But as much as it being the flavor of the year here, so far I hear a lot of talk but I don't hear much raving about excellence going on either. So who knows if it's any good. People are buying them up but not saying much after that!
  15. You know I'm gonna have to look at DSS. I've always just been using PSS.
  16. Dahau just put out a FW update for the 2mp mini dome that does this but I haven't updated yet so I don't know if it just allows for bright/contrast tweaks or profile tweaks. I think it may be profile schedules.
  17. Yeah what's the deal with a private suggestion. I'm open to suggestions too!
  18. Why not use something as simple as a 2MP dahua mini dome? I believe it can take up to a 64gb card. Use PSS software to load in all of them to view from one location. Make sure their sub streams are all set accordingly to help view them live all at once. Set both main stream and sub stream to record. Recording sub stream as well will help make any locations playback easier at the central location. You can view playback of any camera when needed and archive that to the local computer. If you're sitting there watching any camera live you can hit local record and record that event to the local pc. It should all integrate ok. If you're talking about constant activity all day during normal business hours, just schedule constant recording during that period and then motion recording during off hours. That's the best way to just guarantee you catch all the action if there's constant action anyway. I'm just thinking out loud suggesting this. I haven't done it, but it should work fine I would think. The only thing that camera won't do well is see in the dark. But if you're talking daytime or well lighted areas at night, no problem. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hdb3200c--17.html http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/pss--147.html http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/dmss--148.html
  19. I just had one of my analog bullets fail. I have another at the ready for just this reason- cameras fail. I could even take the opportunity to upgrade to a better camera. The choices are endless and not much money. The camera that failed lasted for over two years and took a good deal of punishment, hanging tough through blizzards, hurricanes, monsoon rains, brutal heat and brutal cold. As much as anyone, I'd like to upgrade to an IP system too. Who wouldn't. right? I've held off and probably will continue to do so for a number of different reasons, including budget. But this camera failing got me to thinking about another obvious [or not so] concern. What if this is a swann or lorex or qsee bullet up there and after a couple years, it craps out? I'm mostly stuck having to get that manufactures replacement. And I have to buy a two pack and hope they're in stock at the moment or I lose coverage. Not to mention, I better have the money at the moment. Or I have to spend the money up front and just get a two pack so I have extras. And who knows what costco will actually be carrying down the line. Cameras take a beating from year to year. It's pretty much a given one will fail along the way- with luck, only one. Every time my cameras survive extreme weather and temperatures I breath a sigh of relief. I'd be even more worried with much more expensive cameras out there. I know it's obvious- all these new cameras haven't had time to really be put to the test. It's a gamble at this point, imo. And with IP/MP systems such as the costco offerings not truly being open to third party choices, in this early stage of the game it's almost like your buying an analog system that uses din cables and cameras like old lorex stuff. You're kind boxing yourself in buying a boxed system- literally. And that makes me wonder when I think about installing a system- are all these products REALLY ready for prime time? Because if they aren't and the cameras end up being delicate, finicky beats over time, the one who gets royally screwed is ME.
  20. Forgive for asking the obvious, but you do have this channel scheduled for MD? And I mean scheduled in the schedule menu, not just the period menu in the detect menu, but the schedule menu.
  21. I'm gonna have to let others help you because it simply goes against my principle to install 1k cameras at a total of four for simple surveillance of a small store. I don't care WHO insisted I spend all that money. I wouldn't do it on principle if I knew it could be done at a fraction of the cost. Best of luck to you.

    POE-Switch on DVR-input ?

  23. It's still missing a key thing I want- alarm in/out. That's a deal breaker for me. So it's between dahua, swann, or even q-see for the rebranded dahua.
  24. Get yourself an 8 channel system. Put a camera outside in the front, outside in the back. Put one on each side of the building out there. Put the other four where you need them in the store. Then hire a professional installer and I GUARANTEE that budget will be used up.
  25. The other end goes wherever the central location he ran the wires to inside your house. You put the dvr there. The bnc connectors on that end each go to the dvr channels- and hopefully they are at least labeled on each end so you know what wire is which! The power jacks on that end would going into separate power adapters in a power strip right there, or maybe the power adapter for the swann you're looking at has a four way power adapter in which case you'd hook up four to that. Or sometimes people use a power box, where all cameras go to that one box and it powers all the cameras. But the inside where all your cables come in- that's where you put the dvr and power for the system. oaVRGFPQUHg
