Designing system for my home. ( Looking for help etc... )

I have seven q-see 420 tvls. I'll sell you how ever many you want for 25 bucks a pop plus shipping, no problem. I don't use them and they're just sitting doing nothing. PM me if you want. Dan

    camera pole

You could consider installing vandal resistant dome cameras directly to your walls. That way it's low enough to have a chance at ID'ing someone from their face, as opposed to the top of their head from up on a pole. A dome mounted directly to your wall is very unlikely to be ripped down, and they can bash the hell out of them and the dome won't break. I wouldn't install cameras up on poles, in general. At least not the way you're thinking about. Even a mild wind will get the camera wobbling and such. The extra work just doing the install of a pole- I wouldn't do it. You have nice finishes to your structures. Low profile domes installed where you need them will work better for you I think- and look better too. Good luck.

QC444 HD - High Picture Quality Setting

But what's that in correlation to? Resolution or bitrate? On my 408 web application, these are choices per channel, along with framerate. But I have no HD button choice outside of the setup menus. Are you sure it's HD as in high def, or is it a global switch for half D1- HD1?

Yeah, that's why I tried to point that out earlier too.

Test Pictures: Gadspot 600TVL vs 700TVL

I didn't ask for the pic to be deleted. I just think we get the difference is all. At least, by now we do. Btw- this is from the IP cam forum. A random pic somewhere from the picture example thread, I believe a 1.6mp cam- This is my 60 dollar analog camera on my front door- I'm not for a second gonna argue which camera will perform better. But I'll wager even my analog cam will ID a suspect.

Just for fun One of the customer do it yourself projects Avigilon 2 MP Fun, but in an analog comparison you're comparing apples to oranges. I think everyone understands the difference between fruits. Are sales so bad for MP cams you must jump into analog threads at every chance to show their superiority? I don't understand the need to bash analog over the head with MP at every chance. Why do you do that?

Are the channels set to B&W? Camera one- Super HAD ll @ 50 bucks Camera two- Effio Exview HAD ll @ 100 bucks Depending on someones budget, cam one could be fine. Personally I'd spend the extra 50 and go for what's behind door number two. How about some shots of these cams zoomed in a bit. Of course faces and details won't be seen full wide. Thanks for the comparison shots. Much appreciated. Dan

    Ghosting?

Fingers crossed that does it. How's that ptz up on your custom pole doing for you in general?

Is it the camera or DVR

What happened between this pic- And this pic- Something was changed for the worse in all the noodling that was done. I'd try defaulting the cameras out, because the first pic was fine. Too much user noodling can get you lost in the maze. They also look like cameras with no TDN. The colors look a bit funky. Also as Sean has mentioned- check the channel settings in the dvr. What is the resolution and bitrate set at? Do you have some extreme color/brightness settings going on, or are those settings still at default? Also, have these pics been made larger than the original snap shots?

You probably need to generate the files into AVI files, which could then be posted onto youtube. That player you're talking about needs to be able to do that, including just watching it in the player. If there is a drop down for file type, choose *all files and they should show. It's not all that easy dealing with video files in general- dvr files being no exception. I find a good video editor is always needed if you deal with videos in your world. Movie Edit Pro by Magix is super reasonable. Nice to have. But you need to render those H.264 into AVI files.

    Well it's about freakin time!
  15. As a last ditch resort, you might try to tint your front windows/door. Not blacked out, but enough to cut down the harsh sun. Maybe even a pull down sunshade/tinter type thing. Could help, but that seems like a very typical shot for a good camera with BLC to handle. Good luck.
  16. Do you have winter by you? That's one nice thing about colder temps- spiders bye bye. I've been enjoying the break. Aside from having external IR fixtures away from the cameras, not much you can do. I've tried bug spray on cotton balls and then wedged them into the sun shield on my bullets. Works ok, but of course when it rains the cotton soaks and slimes down over the lense. Not a great solution for cameras in the elements. And you need to refresh the spray too. Since all eight of my cams have IR and a few are high enough to need an extension ladder, I bought a telescoping truck washing handle with a microfiber brush on the end. This gets me about 22' up- plenty. And it collapes down for the 8-9' foot cams and then to 6' for storage. I love the thing. It's a ritual every night before I go to work, walking around to all my cameras and clearing stray webs. As summer turns to early fall the problem is at it's worst. I clean, go to work, monitor the cameras overnight remotely, get half a night where they're clear, and then a spider will just park it's ass right on the lense- sometimes for a long while. I turn off recording on the effected camera at that point. Doesn't happen to all my cameras, but the spiders seem to have a few favorites. They don't build webs- they just sit. I mostly get stringy cobwebs. I just deal with it. Good luck. Dan

For my American friends ! :)

I don't want- or really care. I'm not a moderator here. But I'm pointing it out is all. The difference in forums- Test Bench- General chit-chat about whatever topic you like That's an off topic forum where you'd post this. This forum Put questions here that don't fall within the other areas for your home CCTV systems This forum is for cctv discussion. But again, I'm not a mod here so, rock on.

You betchya. If you think you're gonna scare a raccoon off, think again and be prepared for a stand off and potential fight!

For my American friends ! :)

Aside from personal opinion, I think this should be moved to the proper forum and I think posters should avoid the temptation of posting in the wrong forum just for the sake of more exposure.
  23. I have an eight channel setup- all eight channels going strong. I have an itch to take one static cam out and put in a ptz, but I keep fighting myself on it. We'll see.
