Highest Res and Quality From 8 Camera System Under $5,000?

I think ripping a thread to shreds is over moderating, frankly. Lots of things can be learned even in a thread that goes off the rails. Info that was lost in this thread now....if I can remember....is that the OP needs six cams around the perimeter and he needs clear wide shots covering large FOV's. A truck was stolen, driven right off the lot. Pictures of cars in driveways right in front of the camera need not apply, I don't believe. Correct me if I'm wrong. Good analog cams at doorways and loading bay garage doors may suffice, but MP cams for wide shots showing minute detail that you can drill into is probably the way to go. I learned this from information in this thread before it was ripped out. ak357- this question has not been answered. Perhaps YOU can enlighten us to the answer, and why. That way it'll save you the trouble of trying to trip everyone up with it on a frequent basis. Dan

    Some pics from the cameras

Trash cans go largely unused until fall cleanup. I do my own and kill myself doing it. But it saves 450 bucks. Trash cans needed. Yes- that is moss. Almost like a carpet there. Not particularly wet there, but not enough sun either.

    BBQ bandit

First he looks in the door. Then he goes for grease drip pan, but he quickly gives up. I am left skeeved. Such excitement.

No online video on my laptop

Not sure about IE9, but in IE8 there are these settings to try. Maybe it will help in IE9. Not sure. Try at your own risk, although the settings are nothing you can't just reset right back. Go into internet options. - Trusted sites, make security level low - Enter trusted sites - Untick require server verification - Add the address of the app manager or dyns address you're using Ok to all and close out of that and try. If nothing, reset those settings to what they were. Good luck.

No grid on motion detection setup thru web

I have the opposite problem in remote view- have the grid and I can block out sections, but no live picture in grid mode to see for setup. Could be a few things I suppose- but I suspect it's a graphics card issue or something of that nature. Doesn't bother me though. I set mine very well in the dvr. I can't sculpt any more than I have it. Dan

    Ir Camera recomendation

The city doesn't light privately owned shopping centers.

    Ir Camera recomendation

True. But I'll be damned- in our home depot shopping center there's quite a few stores including a liquor store. Long about 12am the parking lot goes dark. This massive lot just goes dark every night. Presumably to save on electric costs. Very weird, and very dark. I'd have an IR cam up if my little storefront was in there, for sure.

Night Shot in Color (No IR)

It's 3:30 in the morning- my brain is bending I guess with that short explanation, what I thought was bending isn't. I think! I've run a popular audio forum for ten years. I know what you mean. The past two years or so it got slow enough to close registration, but you can still email me and I'll register for you and then you take your account from there. I call it 'select registration'. It's still work, but it's better than weeding through endless spam- the spambots I mean. There isn't a filter around that'll stop it. I feel for ya! And since I pay for the site myself, there's no sponcers to worry about, hense we can recommend anything- a nice thing.
  9. All else fails, as a last resort revert back to the previous firmware version if possible. Maybe that'll do it.

Night Shot in Color (No IR)

Tell you the truth I could use the rules too. I see so much bending of them I'm not sure what's allowed! Shame too- it's like having handcuffs on to try and recommend things. Makes it tough to carry on in a forum.

    Ir Camera recomendation

OP- from the place you mentioned, think about the GS4006CF [white or black]. Looks like a good one. But for ten stalls I would think you may want two cameras, no? Is it just an overview or do you need detail? Otherwise, soundy makes sound sense- if there's decent light. Not always a given and if there's little to none, IR would be worth it.
  12. I find myself doing this all the time inside businesses. I'm always curious where the cameras are, how they are layed out, and best yet, what kind of cameras are in use if possible! I always feel kinda conspicuos doing it. I mean, I'm some guy eyeing the cameras- even getting a little close for a better look! I'm sure lots of times I look suspicious. But I can't help it. If you're into it, it's hard not to look at all the design installs that are everywhere these days and admire or even take stock of how it was done. Not for casing! Just for interest! I'll swear to it!

Night Shot in Color (No IR)

Why do you feel guilty about using the cameras IR? Whatever the case, you should consider making your choice with a person walking in that area and choose which one best captures that, as opposed to how an empty space looks. Walk up the stairs, down the stairs. Towards the door, back towards the stairs. Looking in each window. Looking right at the camera and not looking at the camera. Play the bad guy. It's the human you best want to setup for seeing.

Do you seek out the cameras just because?

Here on the island we have an elaberate traffic camera system covering many spots on the major roads. On the local traffic/weather channel, when they do the traffic they jump around to all the cameras for a visual as well. That is one hell of an expansive system. How do they get all that feeding to a central station for broadcasting? Here I am contemplating how much power for a 100' run! And some of those cameras are better than others, that's for sure.

    Looking for a MIC

Yeah soundy- I hear you. Like I said though, for me- surprise! IMO. Dan

    Looking for a MIC

Yeah, cheap right?! I at least buy from USA sellers though. I don't like the super cheap China auctions. I figured if they sucked what was wasted- ten or fifteen bucks? But...they didn't suck! I have a global mic volume setting in my dvr and I have it set at max, which is why I have an extreme pickup range. When you get progressivley closer to the room it's in, it gets louder. But it never distorts and I never hear hissing. I just hear pure audio man! I can hear outside traffic when the window is open too. I'm sitting here at work monitoring the audio remotely right now and I hear a chorus of crickets like I'm outside! If my house alarm ever goes off or there's a struggle inside my house, I'll hear it no problem and be right on it like a central station. Monitoring picture is great, but ever since I got an audio feed up at the house I really feel like I'm totally connected and ready to respond. Hope the mic works for you too. Dan

    CnM Secure set gateway failed

Watch and study as much as you can here- http://wifi-wiz.net/ Especially the advanced section. I studied and watched enough times that I got it into my head and didn't even need the manual once it came to setting up networking. Good luck. Dan

    Looking for a MIC

I got a cheap one- actually two from ebay just to try. No more then 15 bucks total for the two I think. Specifically for cctv dvr or camera hookup. Just the mics- I have cable if needed. I didn't expect much for cheap. Man was I surprised. These mics are amazing. The pickup range is head scratching- VERY large. From an isolated room, I can still monitor nearly half of my entire residence inside from one mic, BOTH floors! Low self noise. Very pleasantly surprised. My exprience- no need to spend large dollars at all for the type of mic I'm referring to. I'm an audio guy too, so I'm picky. Good luck. Dan
  19. Two times robbed- they are a mark. Spend a fortune on equipment that may or may not deter and ID them, or buy a good guard dog for the house. One that barks ferociously to put the fear of god into them, and will also rip them to shreds if they do enter. Problem solved. Dan

    Which 16ch DVR?

Can it do that times 16 channels, or even 8? I was very happy with 30fps at max bit rate when I got my first couple of cams hooked up and viewed remotely. By the time I hit 8 cameras, I had to settle on 20fps, highest bit rate. I have two channels at D1 and the other six at HD1. This I'm sure takes into account where I view remotely and a less than speedy internet- but not slow either. I can do better remotely on my wireless laptop at home- more smooth. But if anyone can view remotely at D1 x 16 channels at 30fps at the highest resolution and have perfect feed...not only is my hat off to ya, but I'll take off my coat, my boots- hell even my socks! Dollar for Every Post!

Yeah, amazing night vision right?! I checked that shortly after and the time was correct on my dvr. Then another check and it was right in remote view. Internet brain freeze I suppose. And yep, upgraded from cmos to CCD. Higher tvl as well.

Do you seek out the cameras just because?

Yeah, we have an ihop here that always makes me laugh with their install. I'd be willing to bet the system isn't even really on. Pretty sure the cams can't see through the bacon grease any longer.
  23. shockwave199

    Dollar for Every Post!

Well heck, since this is an old thread I'll use it to do my favorite thing- post pics! Stock cams that came with my package Upgrade to better cams, none of which are over 60 bucks
  24. You get a lot of action around there! I'd watch out for the four ring tail. He looks like trouble

Bullet cams vs Dome Cameras for outdoor use?

I think the best thing about domes is the deterent factor. The average moron will absolutely think twice about the possibility that the camera behind that dome can follow them- ptz. A camera you know is there but you can't really see is very off putting- even to an average moron. In fact more so. But I love my bullets too for ease of install and looks.
