In a situation where I want to monitor/record cars going down the street in front of my house (No LPR), what FPS is recommended? The IP cam will be 5 feet away from street with an IR illuminator a few feet above said camera. I was going to use a 6mm lens cam for a tight high quality pic of just the road and cars. I have no idea what FPS cams do best with at night when there are moving cars and people in the road.

Silly question, but have you tried a hard reset? I ma not sure if the Honeywell DVRs have a reset button though. -
What is the safest and more efficient way to wire/power 3 IR illuminators? Each one has a 3A wall power supply, but I want to eliminate plugging in 3 different things and run the wire outside. The IR illuminators are 12v.

Samsung Techwin SNF-7010 in low light
trauts14 posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
How do most fisheye cams perform in low light environments since most do not have IR LEDs. I was looking at a Samsung Techwin SNF-7010, but cannot find any reviews on how it performs outside at night. I guess a couple of nearby street lights would greatly help the situation. -
I bought a CMVision IR illuminator. I want to cut off the female power adater on the back and wire it directly to a power supply. Once the adater is removed how can I determine which wire is positive and which wire is negative? If I am not sure and I wire it incorrectly will I fry my illuminator or do most have protection preventing incorrect wiring?

Once it arrives on monday, i will do a test and compare the built-in ACTi IR LEDs to the new illuminator.

Anybody have any experience/input with cheap IR illuminators? for example an IR illuminator with 98 LEDs or 200 LEDs? I prefer a Raytec, but I could buy multiple cheap ones for the same price. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks. Im looking at a CMVision IR9 i believe. It has 9 (i think) large LEDS. 49 dollars on CMVisions amazin page and same price from their corporate webpage.

Thanks for the assistance. The IR illuminator I am looking at uses 12v. Will any 12v wall adter work or do I need to know how many amps the illuminator uses? The product description does not state amperage. I know it uses 18W.

I am trying to light up the street. My cams are mounted on the house which is 30' away from the street.I dont have anything closer to the street to mount illuminators on unfortunately.

How do you ground an IP camera? My ACTi cams are wired to my POE network switch. The switch is plugged into a grounded outlet via a UPS. Does that mean I am safe, or do I need to do anything else.

The ACTi cam i want can store raw files or avi i think. Will raw save me space on my NVR? Is either one better.

IP cam amount of gigabytes in a 24 hour period
trauts14 posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I am interested in the ACTi E77, which is a 10MP IP cam. In theory if a were recording 24 hours straight through how many gigabytes of data could I expect to see/need to store? Any reviews of this cam would be helpful a well. Thanks. -

thanks for the input. i was going to buy a Solstice NVR since it is compatible with my existing ACTI cams. I will have to check whether Hikvision cams will work with Solstice. -

Thank you for the assistance. Can you suggest any 2-3MP IP cams that you would buy? I would like to research the 2-3MP cams since that is probably going to be my best bet. -

thanks for all of the assistance. i do not "need" a 10mp cam. i saw the price and i thought that was a was good deal. i would love to hear any suggestions on any good cams that are onvif compliant even if they are less that 10mp -
Has anybody used the Alibi NVR or any Alibi IP cams? If so, what are your thoughts and/or comments?

Solstice NVR - am I the Guinea Pig?

Does the Solstice NVR "play nice" with many types of IP cams? I assume it is ONVIF compliant? -

i think the E77 will only do 6fps at 10mp if I am correct, so i guess 6fps at 10MP would be my question.I was also looking at a 3.0MP ALIBI that will di 3.0MP at 15fps, but I do not know a thing about ALIBI. Thank you for any assistance -
If I have 4 IP cams each 3MP) on my network will I experience network slow down? I do not plan on streaming them remotely. Just recording and viewing locally. For example, with this amount cams recording on my network will I see a slow down when I view Netflix or stream video from another source. Will it slow down my internet?

Has anybody had any experience with this camera in low light environments? if has 1.3lux, but I do not know how well this will work without IR illuminators. I have street lights, would this ambient light be enough for the camera to see at night? I dont have any idea as to what 1.3lux equates to.

I am not sure if most NVRs are device specific. Can anyone suggest a NVR to use with IP cams that will will reguardless of the make or model of the IP cam? I have a couple of different brands of IP cams and would like one NVR to record them all.
