Found the menu option and now counting down from 227GB. thanks. for any one else following the thread its Advance ->System->Clear HDD

Was it formatted in the DVR when you first installed it?? - Dont know. I inherited the unit and dont know / cant find out about his history. Have you tried formatting it via the DVR control panel? - I cant find this option in the control panel.

Unit has a 250GB drive and is set to record everything and automatically overwrite. The available disk space cycles from 8.191GB to 0GB which gives me less than 24hours of recording at 25FPS with 4 cameras in use. I tried replacing with another 250GB drive off the compatible list (Samsung SP2514N -7200RPM/8MB cache - which had come out of a sky+ box) this appeared to work the first time and showed a disck count down starting at 223.000GB (or thereabouts), then after I rebooted it would no longer recognise it. I read a post from scorpion that said drives that have been in a PC cannot be used. Any way to unformat? Any suggestions other than go and buy another disk? If i have to buy another IDE drive any recommendations as I dont think the compatible options exist outside of libraries. thanks James
