    Metal Mickey's

Hi, sorry old post I know but im desperately trying to get the usb-rs lead that comes with this camera, does any one have one?
  2. Hi all, Not sure if in the right section so forgive me if not. Im looking after a new site and they have the Bosch Metal mickey camera's installed. One was sent off for refurb and has come back all set to default which I need to change. Now as i understand it i have to log on remotely and to do this i need a 'Bosch, USB to RS485 Signal Converter to Allow MIC Series Cameras to Connect to a PC, Supplied with Each Camera [MICUSB485CVTR2]' Now they do not have any and to buy they are around £90. What are the chance of any one on here having some surplus to sell cheap or can point me in the direction of a supplier? Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi, I use Luxriot, what would you like to know?
  4. Thank you, exactly what I was after.
  5. Can any one just give me bullet points of the main differences? Simple things to explain to customers like.... Ip NVRs are easier to get the video clips from as you don't have to convert to a AVI file that you have to do on a DVR system.... Does that make sense? Cheers.
  6. Please forgive me as I am not sure what info you will need so will ask the question and see where it goes. I had to install a camera looking at a petrol pump at a local garage as when the customer filled up they woulD have to tell the staff the amount.... people soon realised they could lie! So I have a Sanyo dome installed on the wall about 4mtrs away from the pump. Using Luxriot the image is zoomed in so can read how much fuel they have put in. The customer keeps stating that a few times during the day for periods of any thing upto 30 mins, the LCD display on the pumps goes black. I have asked what the weather is doing at the time as first thought it muct be due to it being bright outside or dark outside and the whole image adjusting but he states it dos not matter what the weather is like outside and just does this at different times of the day. Is there a setting that i am missing? Could it be a faulty camera? If there is info you need but I have not provided, please dont flame me, just let me know and I will find out. Im still really learning with cameras so I will say sorry now as I am sure I will be asking lots more.
  7. Yeah what you have said has confirmed every thing i was thinking. Ok thank you mate, youve been a real help.
  8. Cheers for help so far ) ok, pic 3, the one looking direct at the Garage, the sun rises from the left and sets in the right. The sun does not go directly onto the camera or the pumps, the problem is with it reflecting off a car when it stops to fill up. So with the LCD going black is there nothing we can do about that as well then? Also one other side note, not seen my self, but the customer has said when it rains again you cannot read the LCD, would this just be the rain actually getting in the way of the camera?
  9. The pics are showing for me? Odd.. here is a direct link http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k580/foxguard/Tunstall%20garage/IMG_0908.jpg http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k580/foxguard/Tunstall%20garage/IMG_0907.jpg http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k580/foxguard/Tunstall%20garage/IMG_0909.jpg http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k580/foxguard/Tunstall%20garage/IMG_0910.jpg These are the extenders that we use... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VGA-Audio-Cat5-Extender-/180740661320?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item2a14fba048#ht_500wt_1156
  10. Sorry for the long delay in getting back to you. I was at the garage this morning and saw the camera doing what they had been complaining about. What it appears to be is the reflection coming from a car when parked at the pump. The sun rises behind the building and goes from one side to the other side always behind the camera, so I do not know how I can resolve this? it appears no matter where i put the camera the sun will always be behind it and will at points in the day, reflect of cars. Would putting in a different camera help? One that is not a dome? Here are some pictures of the garage etc to see if this helps you get a better picture of my problems. This is a screen shot of the monitor, you can see the top left portion is white, due to the people carrier parked the other side of the pump. This is where teh camera is currently positioned. Here you can see where the sun is and through the day it will go from left to right of that pic Also I am still having a couple of problems with the LCD display going black for no reason, for this I have some video footage taken 30 mins apart. This is at 0730hrs and this is how it should look, when zoomed in you can read the LCD just fine and from this video you can see how you could see it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2ufuqnUuX0 This was taken at 0700hrs and as you can see the lcd is black? This naturally means the zoomed in image you can not read the figures on the display.... why would this happen? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QihRGqHgiGc One last thing.... the dvr is in the office but behind the till i have used a vga over cat5 extender so they can have a 2nd monitor. The video quality is drastically reduced and I assume that ise due tothe extender. What do you mostly use for this purpose? Ok, thank you every one so far.
  11. I will try and get a screen shot for you, but the rest of the image seems to go bright and the LCD bit goes dark.
  12. Hi, Will try and make this make sense.... One of our customers has a camera that has stopped working. The wall it is mounted they do not want being touched... Out of the wall comes the Cat5 and a power lead so behind the wall some where must be a splitter that has taken the PoE cat5 and split the power etc.... Can I take this power lead and Cat5 and get some thing to join them so I can then use a normal PoE camera? If so what is this called please and if you have any links to a supplier would be really helpful.... Thank you in advance guys!
  13. Thanks tom. At the nvr end it is a poe switch that the cat5 comes out of... so already has power. it is then split to give the power and cat5.. i assume.. so what do i need to make the cat5 poe again.. either of these work .. http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/?categoryid=234
  14. befor you go spending money the first thing would have been to test the old camera and power supply. what make was the old camera ? and will the software take a sanyo. The old camera was a 'peak' We have installed Luxriot software which works well with the sanyo
  15. No not 100% sure as is all hidden behind the wall and they wont let us take the wall down etc... Kinda flying blind!
  16. At the moment it is all hidden behind the wall.. all I can access is the Cat5 and a power lead... I do not know for sure the power lead is working ok or the splitter has failed behind the wall. Have now been advised the Sanyo should be able to be plugged directly into the camera so all is well )
  17. I didn't realise the Sanyo camera would take a direct power, thought it had to be PoE. Ok that really helps, thank you very much.... as long as the power is still ok (its not been tested as yet) WE shall judt plug it in and away we go. If not will just run new cable down the wall but not behind it.... they dont want us remioving the panels... Thanks again for your help mate.
  18. Hi mate, Thanks for the reply The thing is, the camera that was already there was not very good. We want to replace with a Sanyo PoE that will have space under it to hide any adapters. Do such adapters exist?
  19. Hello all, Having to ruin cable down the outside of a petrol sign, was thinking of hiding the cable in normal trunking as can not get inside the sign. What would be best for attaching the trunking to the sign? Any ideas?

    Hi all!

Bit late as have been posting a little bit... but HELLO!! So far the help I have had from this Forum has been fantastic!! A short intro of me... I have started working for a small CCTV company in Suffolk. He is a good friend of mine and has been running a succesful PC company for many years and is now branching into the CCTV world. i have come on board and am learning quick!! So i'm sorry if I ask very simple Q's, but im trying LOL Thanks every one!
  21. Thanks for all your help every one.
  22. Hi, Can any one suggest a good encoder to convert 6 analogue cameras to digital for me? i have tried to search the forum with no joy and don't really know what i am looking for if i just google it. The supplier that i use for my cameras do not sell such a thing. Sorry i know this is basic but i am still a major novice!
  23. hi. that is called a hybrid. still no point in doing that if the current DVR is working. unless you intend to add ip at a later date. is your customer just looking at viewing his current system over the internet ??? Basically yes, remote viewing, not VHS tapes! and adding future cams to the system...
  24. We use Luxriot as our Software on our NVR's. My work college states that you can get a encoder card that would go direct into the NVR and then the analogue cameras go direct into that card, so bypass the old DVR. I thought you had to use a seperate encoder... but assume I am wrong?
