If you can afford the bandwidth you can afford a lock box bolted to the floor with huge bolts. with machine guns.. and dogs.. lots of dogs. And if that fails, theirs always renting Chuck Norris

WHICH DVR CARD IS NUMBER 1 ???
libertysurveillance replied to drapme's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
best card 16 channels is probably a geovision, they're great. Can sell ya one, they are reasonably inexpensive compared to high-end stand alone dvr's. our price on the 16 cam full rate is $1645.00. Let me know what you need -
Anyone know if there can be a simulated setup for a geo card on a laptop. Obviously we cant put a pci card in a laptop. But it would be so much easier to tote around a laptop for demo's rather than a complete system. Anyone know how to code up a moch up setup for just the softwares use on a laptop.

What type of PC's is everyone using for running their Geo systems.. Right now, for lower end cards we've just been using the cheap dell deminsions with the free LCD. We usually pick them up for around 400$ and sell them as is with no markup. For higher end cards, we use higher end dells, which sucks cause the price gets blow way out of the water for a machine with a pci-x, or agp slot. Their templates are like setup so there is no middle ground, either dead cheap or overpriced. We were wondering what everyone else is using for a cost effective machine.

What PC's are you using for your Geo Systems?
libertysurveillance replied to libertysurveillance's topic in Geovision
Ive been using 2.4ghz D's or Celerons with 250's and if people complain about the price, i give them that with a gv600, and explain to them whats going on. You get what you pay for =] -
These people are on a very tight budget. It's for the local little league, which brings in little to no money, and is mainly funded by the city. Thier problem is people are coming up with 4 wheelers and destroying the property, the in/out fields. They are putting up fencing wherever they can but they still manage to get in. Also just regular teenagers and such going there destroy stuff, painting on walls, even setting bleechers on fire. As you can see from the pictures below there are two places to get power from. Though that middle field is going to be a problem, and to keep the price down i was thinking for the middle field cameras maybe using solar (anyone have any experience?). But my main problem is, how can i keep this cheap.. what cameras should i use for this app to get the best possible image while keeping cost down. I tried to explain to the lady the whole field of view issue, she was suggesting one camera for each field. Told her that 1 camera would catch a lot, but you wouldnt make out what your looking at. Anyone have some input as to what would be a cost effective way to handle this?

libertysurveillance replied to libertysurveillance's topic in System Design
security guard, cost like 11$ an hour, and they only get paid 8, the other 3 or so goto the firm that you go through. Or something very similar to that. -
Those usb2pci' things arent cheap.

E-FM1 Handheld Focus Indicator
libertysurveillance replied to Metal Shaper Man's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I also found E-CLM1, which looks like a more up to date version, with an monochrome lcd rather than led's. Though the old red led's do raise the geek factor *oops on second look, this is a different tool E-CLM1 Handheld Cable Length Meter -

Securitymonster, yea the people said something about hiring a guard, i think thats also their best bet. I'm doubting they want to spend the money its going to cost to do this right. I really have no idea what their budget is, i just know its on the low end, now if thats 10 - 20k i really dont know.. -

Just ordered 3 of those today, for another job. They have a real narrow range though on the IR, and they really arent worried to much about night. I Guess most of htis is happening 3 - 8pm in the spring, summer -

libertysurveillance replied to libertysurveillance's topic in Geovision
Dell mainly uses intel boards/chipsets which usually dont have a problem with geo stuffs. what stinks about higher end dells is there jumps in price are like crazy from low end to - mid - to high.. it doesnt make any sense, they either make no money or make tons =\ -
anyone ever use this, i might have an application for it, and was wondering too if these bosch autotrackers were any good.

We've been getting low end dells for the gv250's, 600's and some rare cases with cheapo home buyers even the 800's. Last summer i was picking em up for $319 + tax/handling, this was with a 15" LCD. Right now the lowest end dells are about $350 - $450 depending on the sale of the week. 90% of them come with LCD's (by no means are these great lcd's but consumers love em). I just cant see spending another 100 - 200$ out of my profit, on a system thats a tad bit better, with a clunker CRT. I live in a metro area and there are dell tech's everywhere that do same day warranty service. The low end dells are the only reason we can out price the low budget systems around here. You compare to the cost of a DVR and GEO+DELL blows it out of the water. -

What stinks is you add windows to that setup and you're adding another 100 bucks. -

What about size Rory. I'd really like a small formfactor pc with a large enough case to fit the bigger Geo boards. I was looking at systemmax pc's for a bit, the only thing that bites the biggy on that one is, going from a tube to a lcd, drives the cost so high up, and people like the dell name, its hard to shy away to another company with the high prices they charge. -
I'll vouch for EZCCTV i've been a member of their forums for quite a while Charles over there is excellent with Geo stuffs, and has a very good relationship with geo. I've also downloaded ALL my last oh 4 -5 updates from EZCCTV before they were ever on Geo's site.. sitting.. waiting.. had to order geo v3.3 boards.. ohhhhhhhhh the cow kicked nelly in the belly in the barn
