running Geo ver 8.1 I have 13 cams, all different, some new, some older, and they all are flashing. Some cams go brighter, others go dimmer. Even tho they're set to record only motion, The flashing keeps them recording all the time. Anybody seen this?

I have a Geovision P.O.S (point of sale ) machine model # is v2e that works on 8.01 or earlier. We have this new customer, he has 8 of these things set up and none of them are working. When we arrived this is how it was set up rs-232 db25 from cash reg to P.O.S rs-232 db25 from printer to pos and rj45 ethernet from P.O.S to network. Now this customer had Geo set it up for him and according to him it worked but does not now. I have the manual and have gone thru it but still cant get this thing to work I'm not familiar with this type of P.O.S machine (no pun intended) now it is hooked up to an nec cash reg that is not supported by Geo But you have to select general type in the settings if it is not recognized but keep in mind it worked for little So any info would be great i.e. (details on how you set yours up and what kind of problems you might have had and what kind of software and hardware you have used it on) Thanks

The literature says that 8.2 supports recording resolution of D1(720x480). Does this mean that I won't be able to take advantage of a 1Mb cam that records at 1280x1024, or a 2Mb at 1600x1200?

I'm trying to use the geovision to send an alert when there is motion in the field of view. The version is 8.12 I can almost get the modem to work with video loss (it dials the phone then hangs up). The intruder alert is grayed out. Any suggestions???

zoomin in on video that has been exported w/ player
libertysurveillance posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
Seems that DVR's do not support zooming in on their playback when exporting a file to give to the police. I haven't found a player yet that supports this function and I had thought that Geo could do it. I have a video that the police are interested in but exporting to an AVI doesn't allow me to zoom cause Windows Media Player doesn't have that functionality. I thought the GeoPlayback program would do this but apparently I was mistaken. When playing back a scene, after exporting it with the particular DVR's player, I would think that I should be able to zoom in (like you can in Geo's ViewLog). But if the file has been exported, w/ a player, none of them seem to support the zoom in/out function. Am I missing something.... -

No it doesn't... the Geo player does NOT support zooming in and out as the videolog program does. Check it out. -
analog monitor with a PC

As usual, your expertise and responses are truly helpful. -
Is there anyway to connect a high resolution CCTV analog monitor to a computer for use with GeoVision, or other PC-based DVR's? Looking for higher resolution than we can get from the VGA monitors.

Is anybody doing this? Customer wants to get a call if someone comes through the door of his garage... Can't seem to get Geo to work with the modem... Anybody have any ideas???

question re: installing cams for multiple bldgs...
libertysurveillance posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
Looking for professional opinions... I have an installation of 40 cameras over 2 buildings. The main bldg (Bldg A) is 200'x60 and the second bldg (Bldg B) is 100'x60'. They are approx. 100' apart with the monitoring office in bldg A. 25 cams in A, and 15 in bldg B. Question.. do I put GEO in Bldg B, then connect it to a PC running Center V2 in bldg A? Then I have (3) screens in A. (2 DVR's for the 25 cams) and the PC running the Center V2 software. or do I instead run all the cam wires from B back to A, and put the DVR there, next to the other 2? Which would you do, or what better solution would you offer? Thank you. -
What are other dealers doing with regard to water spotting on PTZ's? Is there a solution that you can put on the plastic shield to sheet the water off the dome when it is raining? I've looked at the cams in inclement weather and you can hardly see through the spotting.

thank you, we'll try em out -
we have been selling midrange D/N cams with mixed results. We recently installed our first Bosch D/N cam. What an incredible difference! The picture was remarkable... please advise us as to what other $500-$800 D/N cams you all are having good experience with. And for the ever-present cheapo customers, can anyone recommend a decent D/N cam at a lower price, tho I doubt they exist. You really do get what you pay for with this technology!

flat screen VGA monitors vs CCTV monitors
libertysurveillance posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
Our experience with flat screen panels (ie. Dell) are that they offer crappy visuals (even in hires mode) of our hi res cameras... do most people prefer the older style CCTV monitors for their clarity? -

I'm not sure what is being asked. -
We have a couple of units that have this flashing problem it appears to happen when the hard drive gets full. All the camera screens start to flash or flicker in real time. But if you clean out the archived videos and reboot the problem stops until the hdd becomes full again. We are using version 8.1x and the hdd is on recycle. Also dont know if this would help but the dvrs have multiple hdd and are running on win xp home sp2 Wondering if anybody has come across this any help would be great
