Finally getting around to finish my project and need help. I just bought an LG M3204C monitor to put video in the bedroom. I can use an hdmi extender and a usb extender to have video and control, or direct bnc and usb extender. My question is which would be better? I understand that the hdmi is a better quality picture, but will I notice a difference? All we will do is monitor from that room. The run will be around 50-60 ft. The dvr is a Ganz DR16HD. I am looking at a Gefen hdmi cat5 extender with ir and a Gefen usb 1 extender. This way I still can control the dvr remotely. If anyony has a better suggestion I am interested.

At the A/V source end, you connect the HDMI IR CAT-5 Extender Sender unit to your HDMI source and its IR blaster to your devices IR eye using the supplied cables. At the remote end, your HDMI display connects to the HDMI IR Extender's Receiver unit. Two CAT-5 cables connect the Sender and the Receiver units to each other, allowing for up to 300 feet of A/V source extension. Power-cycle all equipment and you will experience remote HDTV extension with full IR control of your HDMI source. The run will be 50-60 ft.

So then am I ok using an HDMI ir extender for the video and remote control and then using a USB extender for mouse control in the other room? I can get a GEFEN HDMI IR CAT5 extender for around $150. Then get a USB extender for around less than $100. I guess that both will do what I am trying to do.

I understand the pictures better but is it worth the difference in price for just monitoring with analog cameras.

What is the visual difference between a day night camera and a true day night camera? I am currently using CNB VCM 24 VF's and am happy with them. I need another camera to watch another area that is around 250ft or less away. I found a GANZ ZC-D5550NXA camera but it is a day/night camera and not a TDN camera. Would I notice a picture quality difference or anything else? Has anyone used the ganz camera model with success or problems? Any pictures to share?

What I am trying to find out is what will be the difference in the picture between the ganz camera in my original post and the cnb 24s i have now
-
Thanks, but the CNB VCM 24 VFH is not an ir camera. I am trying to find the difference in picture i will see if i were to switch to a D/N camera verses what i am using now.

Thanks for the answer Soundy. I guess I may be asking it the wrong way. Compairing the picture of my CNB 24VFs, what is the difference in picture I will notice.

VGA or HDMI remote viewing which is better???
woltert1 posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I would like to put a monitor in our bedroom to watch and control my system. I currently am using 12 of the 16 channels but will be adding on the rest shortly. Am I better using a VGA or HDMI KVM extender? The dvr is a computer ganz DR16HD and supports both formats. I am not sure which will work better( picture, control, etc). I have remote viewing ,but it is not the same as a direct connection. I will be using a 32" TV/monitor from Samsung. I would like to know if anyone can tell me which is better for this setup and if there are any brand recommendations for the KVM or monitor. The run will be 70-80 Ft so I will need some kind of an extender. -
What is going to give me the best picture quality with the mouse control? Is there a certain company and model? How is installed? The budget is slim I just got laid off.

I recently installed a Ganz DR16HD dvr with 12 cameras. After getting it connected to the internet I am not happy with the image quality verses going with a direct connection. My question is what is the best way to make my direct connection? My thoughts are to put a 20-30” HD TV in the bedroom so we can watch the cameras all the time. What I was thinking of using an HDMI connection. The DVR is in another location of the house, and I need to run the cable around 48+ ft to make the connection. I am not sure if this is going to be the best way or not. So I am looking for some suggestions on what would be the best way to make this run, or is there a better way of making the connection. I also would like to be able to control the DVR for that location and am not sure what I would need to be able to do this.

The camera will be outside around 12-14ft high and I need to reach 120-200 ft with a 30-50ft wide picture. I will use IR illuminator to fill in for the night. I am looking at the CNB MIR1000 or the Vitek VT-IR2 , I don’t know which one is better . If anyone has any suggestions on that I am open to opinions. Back to the camera I am looking for a box camera with a lens that will go to 100mm. I am looking for a good quality picture. I currently have a GANZ DR 16 HD with 8TB, 6 CNB VCM-24VF for outside( I am using low voltage lighting for the nighttime with good results) and 6 CNB DBM 24VF for the inside, Altronix 2416 power supply. I am getting ready to hookup the cat5 for the internet viewing. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the responses so far, but ,y main point is getting lost. I need suggestions for a quality box camera lens set up. Any brand is alright as long as the picture will give me a high quality picture. I need some experienced suggestions with the camera recommendations, maybe even some pictures if you have them. Thanks -

Thanks Tomcctv for the reply. The reason that I am looking at separate IR is because it will give me the ability to put it in the best location. As for the camera it doesn't have to be a CNB. I just want something with a clear quality picture. -

Does anyone have any suggestions on camera and lens combos???? -
I would have to agree with Birdman. I am a new DIYer to the game and just installed all CNB camera’s. 6 VCM-24VF out side and 6 DMB-24 inside. I have not had any problems at all. When I got the system running I didn’t even have to focus the cameras, but I did just to make the picture a little better. I was going to put up flood lights for the night time, but we just got some new low voltage lights and they put out enough light at night to make the cameras see the whole front yard all the way to the street which is about 50-60ft from the house. After seeing that we just added 5 more. The lights have 11w bulbs and are spaced about 4ft apart. There are a total of 10 across the front of the house. After seeing the differences I am going to put up some in the back yard and also add some low voltage spot lights way out. If I had to say anything bad about the CNB cameras, right now I can’t find anything as of yet. So far they have been flawless, even after Hurricane Irene.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me where the best location to install outdoor dome cameras is. What do you use to determine the best location? If the house is 40ftx60ft wouldn't you install the cameras on the corners and then fill any spots that might be blind. I am looking to put 6 outdoor CNB VCM-24VFs around the house. I will be installing 4 motion flood lights on the 4 corners also, so do the cameras go behind or in front of the flood lights.

I have a question for any installers. I was forced to get into CCTV because I have been robbed 7 times. The problem I have is that we just had 14” of blown insulation in the attic this spring. I have a hip roof with 3ft eaves and getting from the eaves to the attic is very difficult to say the least. Does anyone have a good trick to get the wiring into the attic with out having to crawl all over the insulation? I know that I will have to get into some of it but I don’t want to crawl all over the attic and have to get it re-blown. In the past I have used a 15ft piece of PVC and slid it into the attic and crawled to the end and ran a satellite line but with the blown insulation now in place it is more difficult. I will be using RG59 siamese cable and making 12 runs total, 6 outside and 6 inside.

Installing new Cable tricks in attic
woltert1 replied to woltert1's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Thanks Roy. The problem that I have is not getting access to the attic from the eavs. The eaves are vinyl so I will pull the siding down and have a 6" hole to go thru. My problem is the blown insulation, I don't want to pack it down by having to crawl all over the attic. I am wondering if there might be a better way. I called the insulation company and asked how much they would charge to fix or re-blow the attic afterward, the responce was $400-600 depending on how much work they had to do. -

Yes. The insulation was blown on top of the existing insulation and is now 14" above the rafters. I am trying to not crawl all around and crush the insulation, but if that is the only way I guess that I will have to get the insulation company back and have it reapplied. Yes the hip on my roof is very low the higest point is around 4ft and the lowest is at the end which is 6". -
That was my thoughts, but what about the flood lights? With them installed on the corners where would be the best location for the cameras. In front of them or behind them. I am going to be installing 6 cameras inside the CNB DBM-24vfs also watching the windows and doors. When I set up the dvr I am going to link the alarm with the cameras motion sensor for the inside in hopes to not only catch the subject but to minimize the false alarms. The outside will be set the same way except I will not attach it to the alarm, just have the motion activated.

I am looking for any suggestions on a new system. First I called a local cctv installer and had them come in and give me a quote for a system. I just got laid off from work so I can't afford to have them do the system. I have researched and come up with this for a system, which is close to what the cctv company used. Same brand just different size in camera 16 instead of 9. Everfocus ECOR264 16x4/1T DVR Everfocus EHD500IR x 5 out door for around the house Looking at the Everfocus ED610 or the ED335 x6 indoor. I am not sure on the inside cameras which to use, but I think the outside choice will be ok. My budget is around $2600.00 Max. The above system is around $2550 shipped with power supply, coax, and connectors. I will be networking the system for internet viewing, and hooking it to my alarm system also. Any other suggestion would be much appreciated.
