    gv-800 framerate vs resolution

Hi all Got a gv-800 recently and I'm a bit disappointed with the jerky recordings it makes. When I asked geovision about it they said it supports 100 fps (PAL) at 320 x 240 only. This surprised me as other dvr manufacturers seem to define a frame as 640 x 480 and use tricky claims like 100 images/sec instead. Does anyone know if this is true? I tried 320 x 240 and although it is a lot better there is still some jerkyness where the time between a pair of frames seems to be twice what it should be. Also I want to record at 25 fps so that when I transfer to PAL video there is no more jerkyness introduced but although I've selected max frame rate of 25 fps I still get a 30 fps recording. I'm using MPEG4 recording. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks

    gv-800 framerate vs resolution

ok Rory I'll look at Ultra VNC. I'm new to Windows. Used Macs since 1986. Not sure what PM is but will set out all the settings and post here. I have to go now I've been in front of this machine for about 6 hours straight. I'll post the settings later. thanks again
  3. Hi all I want to transfer gv-800 MPEG4 video files to my Mac. I can get the files across but Quicktime just played with a white screen. I installed 3ivx codecs and now it plays with a black screen. I installed quicktime on the Win machine and it plays the files with a white screen. Can anyone help? Is it possible to turn the avi files into true MPEG4 files? thanks

    gv-800 MPEG4/AVI transfer to Mac

Hi Rory Yes quicktime on Mac can play avi files but it has to have the codec that the avi used. It has MPEG4 and I set geovision to record MPEG4 (other options were wavelet and Geo MPEG4) but quicktime originally thought codec was GEOX then afterr I installed 3ivx codecs it sees them as 3ivx D4. I'll look at Movie Maker - thanks Yes a brand new card and version 7.05 software. I don't have to have MPEG4 but thought since the avi is supposed to be MPEG4 that there may be some way to strip the avi wrapper and leave MPEG4.

    gv-800 framerate vs resolution

thanks rory Yes a new card from Aus PC-Market in Australia. They seem reputable and the antistatic bag had a sticker saying "Anti-Piracy Version". version 7.05 of software I think the card was version 3 gv-800-4 bnc with 4 audio I'm only running 2 cameras so far and wanted 25 fps at 640 x 480 from each but it can't seem to handle this with or without audio. Do you know if it is supposed to be able to do this? thanks
