  1. ulterior, The one I listed is the model of the servers I have. They have others; even a stand alone.
  2. If you are in Canada you may want to check out i3International. I have 9 of their servers in three stores. Lots of drive room and surveillance is their only business. I did not purchase cameras from them; just the servers. Also, their software is top notch. They are based in Ontario. I was not referring to the cameras they offer but, rather, the servers. You can run almost any type of cameras including wireless. You would just connect the receiver to the server.

The proprietary software I use will differentiate from objects and identify either humans or vehicles. I also have the option of checking if it is a crowded area. I use hardware and software from i3International. From the manual: VideoLogix™ is an intelligent human(vehicle) tracking / theft detection module developed exclusively by i³DVR. This module allows: 1. Detecting Human Presence 2. Detecting a Vehicle 3. Detecting a Missing Object 4. Analyzing Human/Vehicle behavior 5. Initializing pre-selected response depending on the nature of the behavior The total number of available VideoLogix™ channels will depend on the DVMS model. Please contact customer care if more VideoLogix channels are desired. The VideoLogix™ tracking module is a versatile device that allows for seven different types of human/object detection and tracking: Area, CrossWire™, Idle, Missing, Stop, Direction, Passthrough Counter™.

I am the loss prevention manager for Gary's Wine & Marketplace in NJ. We have three stores. I use dedicated servers from i3International out of Canada. I have a total of 9 servers. Our Wayne, NJ store uses 4 servers with 64 cameras which includes 12 PTZ; inside and outside. The software is proprietary, is extremely powerful, full of useful features and uses direct internet connection; no IE. I have no problem viewing from remote sites. I have been using these servers for many years with little problems; mainly drives. I have tons of storage and on most servers (not the PTZ one) I can go back months.
  7. I run 4 servers manufactured by i3International with 64 cameras in a retail environment. My system allows me to set FPS for each camera up to 240fps. In addition, I can set what they call 'emergency' fps which means I can set my cameras at 7fps but when motion occurs it will switch to 15fps (or whatever I set it to.) The emergency FPS setting will take effect until 10 seconds have elapsed since the sensor activation or since motion has ceased. After 10 seconds have elapsed since the motion stopped or sensor has been activated, the regular recording FPS setting will take over once again. Garyswine

    16 channel dvr help

I am the loss prevention manager at Gary's Wine & Marketplace in NJ. We have three stores with our flagship store in Wayne, NJ at 24,000 sq ft. In that store I have 4 servers manufactured by I3dvr out of Canada. In the Wayne store I have 64 cameras inside and out with a mix of fixed and PTZ's; with room for several more IP cameras. I find the I3dvr's to be of very high quality. I installed several 1tb drives in each and can go back two months at least. The software is easy to use and has many features like object search which allows you to block an area and set up search times and just walk away. Software will provide thumbnails every time something passes through the block. I also have a total of five more I3dvr servers in our other stores. I can monitor from any location including my home. http://www.i3international.com/en/default.htm Garyswine
